My guy...you might be waiting years for that one. You have no idea how long it took to get from 0.0.7 to here.
Then so be it! This isn't the only game I approach with this mindset. A lot of the games I download I end up playing for 10 minutes and all of a sudden the "thanks for playing" screen shows up, so I'd rather wait and get a better surprise. Maybe not 0.4.0 but not now anyways.

I don't often rage quit at the firs boss but man FUCK the first boss. Not worth the hassle
I posted a video of my no-hit run a little ways up if you need assistance on how to fight him, and several people have given their strategies. If you get hit but aren't torturing yourself like I did, you can heal yourself pretty easily as long as you have enough essence for it. Overall, you should be fine as long as you stay mindful of what the boss can do and how controlling Akaren works.

Thank you, but I have been fighting that boss for over an hour to no avail. And I do not bother with a game that is this poorly designed that they can't even have a decent first boss fight. This game is a loss to me.

...Okay, I can understand not liking the game, and each person is entitled to that opinion, but I'm getting really sick of people calling this game badly designed because they can't beat the first boss. It's really not that bad. Now, if you have some merits in other games of relatively high difficulty, or even just moderate difficulty, then I'm willing to have a discussion about it, but it seems that people find it easier to say that the game is bad than admit that they're just bad at the game. I don't want to assume this is the case for you, but you didn't present any arguments against the game's quality outside of the fact that you couldn't beat it, so there's not much of a benefit of a doubt I can give here.

I prefer not to rant on about such things. But if you want, I can give you my reasons as to why I think it has bad game design.

The controls are wonky. After I noticed that you have to use both hands for the keyboard, I tried my luck with a controller. And through a controller, the movement is not properly aligned to the pad. The game is hyper-sensitive to the movement pad, making it difficult to control the character. The buttons for jumping and the like were alright, but again, movement was an issue, so I went through with it and stuck to the keyboard controls, which worked better at least.

The combat against regular enemies was nothing special. Said enemies can practically always be one-shotted. Which I guess was the main focus of the game, going with the ninja aesthetics and all, but even when I was forced to battle, a few hits did the trick, and I could move on. And for a first level, that was to be expected. But then comes that boss.

The boss can two-shot you. And that in itself is already poor game design in my eyes, for the first boss should not have such mechanics. This wouldn't be so much of an issue, I suppose, if the healing method were easier and not behind some convoluted key strike combo to get some HP back. I don't have the finger dexterity anymore to move keys that quickly. Even trying to cheese the enemy by moving back and forth and just hitting them once didn't work for me. The animations of the boss and the character are not smoothly synced with the buttons. I already noticed this when fighting the normal enemies. My character would move way too far to the left or right than I told it to, or the game 'saves' your button mashing to the point where it continues an attack even though I have been canceling said attack. And unless I missed it, I couldn't find a block mechanic for the character either.

Combine all this with the fact that your own attacks do extremely little against the boss, and you have the recipe of an overly frustrating game design at a stage where this should not be the case because the player is still on their learning curve. If the devs intended this game to be souls-like, then I could have given it a pass, but then the controls still need a major overhaul.

But that is just my take on it. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I, for one, just cannot bother with a game like this. Maybe I will check it out again once it has had a few updates, but I rarely see an updated game revise its movement mechanics.
