Remains Rebirth is difficult for me to critique, it both starts off feeling a tad cheap while also scratching some strange Newgrounds nostalgia itch I didn't know still lingered within my soul. But the enemy art and variety was nice and once I realized I could hold a button down and just spam my characters main attack the grinding that I was dreading became far less of an issue, and the progression coincidentally far smoother than I had anticipated.

I grew to really enjoy the girls as they opened up more and the game progressed, and while I would have enjoyed even more dialogue I did particularly enjoy getting their thoughts in new areas. Sometimes RPG's can feel lonely, but Remains Rebirth did it's best to help alleviate that feeling. The story itself was also enjoyable, a little sparse but definitely more engaging than your typical marvel movie. I liked having the glossary for more backstory as well, but it did leave me wishing for more, it almost feels like there could have been another whole game from some of it.

Tiny, practically minuscule gripe, Why did Sehmet have to call you Senior? I kept reading it as señor and it was making me laugh unintentionally, anyway.

The porn aspect I feel was laid out pretty well, with some coming a little earlier or later depending on how much you had explored and unlocked and others coming as a result of resting in certain areas or after certain times. If you explored a lot it did seem to run out sort of quickly but nothing I would say is negative beyond just wanting more.

I actually originally started this review off as a 4 star, then after writing what I had, considered why it wasn't a 5 and the answer boils down to the ending stage of the game. Perhaps I was just not being mindful enough, but I swear I had not gotten all three orbs before jumping into the end portion, and my inventory I only saw 2, but after running around the world for 1-2 hours I eventually just plunged in to see what would happen and then finished the game. Your companions in the castle are also not particularly helpful because they each make it seem like perhaps there is something you forgot to do when there was not. Then I consider how much back and forth I had in the castle getting keys for keys to more keys and really its the part of the game that falls flat the hardest.

Would definitely still recommend to anyone looking for a good RPGM game with some porn sprinkled in, but the ending chunk can be a little bit of a slog, even without the weird orb nonsense that I for some reason had issues with.

To sum it up? And bare in mind this is my own personal opinion so make of that what you will.

Basically, it's a harem themed Souls-lite inspired mystery to try and figure out why the world came to a grinding halt.

It's got great art work, decent voice acting where the girls really deliver and the TL work is, overall, decent.

Gameplay is fairly standard with n9 real gimmicks to it but basic ain't always bad, especially since it's more about the exploration anyway. The 'Souls-lite' bit is definded by 2 things:
    1. Minimalist storytelling usually wrapped around a world ending mystery/revival effort peppered with lore from books, items, and the occasional NPC. No hand holding so pay attention and don't skip dialogue.
    2. Exploring. LOTS of exploring. Oh, and you can tackle most areas in any order you like. Just expect to get stomped if you walk into an area without properly prepping. Likewise, gear hunting is a thing, so have at it. Lastly, instead of bon fires and Firekeepers, you get to bang your girls and collect items called 'Pure Material' to boost your skills.

Overall, it's solid but isn't stand out. Better than average but not great. It's just good for what it is. Like a short but good book you read, finish, and put away.... and then pick up sometimes to reread when you're bored.

Some losers might decry it for its very orthodox style, but harems rule, choosing one girl is stupid, powering up through sex is win, and exploring the world trying to figure out why it's so distorted with a battle harem at your side, frankly, NEVER gets old and will always have a audience.

    A solid 4☆'s

Overall: There are things here to enjoy, things to annoy, and it would probably get a higher score if it wasn't a porn game.

    Good:
    - Rewarded for exploration. Not just treasure boxes in the corner of the map, but also hidden doors and such. Few h-games do this even though it really helps flesh out the maps and areas don't feel uselessly big when there are secrets to be found.
    - Temporary access to skills through equipment. It can help round-out a character's attacking options the party's composition before you bring a full party along.
    - Some very good set pieces; the game strays from the volcano/sewers/ice-cave/forest trope.

    Bad:
    - For some reason, the porn is poorly integrated into the story and unavoidable! Well, technically it's avoidable, but since you need to H the girls in order for them to acquire skills which really shouldn't be gated (earning xp despite not being in your party; moves which use TP) it's unlikely you'll willfully nerf their usefulness. By extension: harem is also unavoidable, though I suppose that's only really a downside if you -- like me -- prefer games where you have a choice of 1-to-n girls instead of needing to have them all.
    - Self-insert protagonist. I know some people like self-insert protagonists, but this one only has one voice and it certainly isn't mine.
    - While the sex itself is vanilla, the scenes' overall tone is generally chauvinistic. Lines such as "No matter how powerful she is, in the end, she's easily subdued by a cock in her cunt. She's just a girl who can't win against a man..." Standard stuff for an h-game, but no less unenjoyable.
    - Enemies disable your whole party and you can't run, so while the game pretends to be nonlinear you'll instead just die a few times while you look for the correct path.
    - It can be difficult to follow scenes since they're a mix of speech and narration but don't really separate the two. The dialogue part will just say "Anne-" in the top line. No color-coding, no separate namebox, no avatar.

    Medium:
    - I can't really think of anything for this section... which I guess is a sort-of medium aspect in itself! Usually a 3-star game for me will be one which is just generally average whereas Remains Rebirth is a combination of things I really liked and things I really disliked, without many filler aspects to balance it out.

This game feels like Fumika Fantasy gone wrong. But first, what I like about it.

    - The art is good.
    - There is a pretty solid JRPG system, with level-ups, equipment, and world-exploration.
    - Some decent sex scenes

But there are several places where the game takes the wrong direction in my opinion. Like in Fumika Fantasy, the difficulty spikes pretty heavily at various points. But if you have a walk-through at hand, or if you spend too much time inspecting every place on the maps, you can mitigate that to some extent and not have to grind too much. But, in comparison to Fumika Fantasy, this game still feels far, far too grindy, and the enemies too punishing. If, as a developer, you want to have a hefty amount of challenge in your game, don't make it a porn game, please. It just isn't hot.

And there comes the second big problem I have. There isn't that much porn in this porn game. So, in the end, although it is an okay JRPG experience, it is not to me worth the time to get the sex scenes.

tldr: this game is definitely one that prioritize RPG&Exploration over H . It not targeted for everyone but if you are the type that likes challenging turn-based combat & exploration with some H sprinkled on it, it will be worth your time.

    Gameplay (4.5/5):
I think the creators (and modders) did really well with equipment options and difficulty design in this game.
There are a ton of equipment with different attributes that is quite important for a player to utilize in order to progress through areas and bosses successfully. The developers also hid a major amount of these equipment behind puzzles or hidden paths, forcing players to pay attention to their surroundings and think instead of just mindlessly going through each map.
The difficulty design of the game is also pretty good. The mobs always serves as an constant challenge that forces you to think carefully but isn't so difficult that it forces you to grind levels. If a section's mob is too difficult, it's basically the developer's way to tell you to explore another map first and come back later.

    Charactetrs&World Building (4/5):
MC is mostly a self-insert so not much to talk about for him.
The four girls have their own personally and background which adds some unique touch of flavor towards your experience
There is also many side characters, glossary, and dialogs that adds on to the world building. It's not spoon-fed to you and you'd have to take time to find and think to stitch these information together, which again is not for everyone but is done good for its intended audience.

    Story (3.5/5):
Probably the weakness part of the game. The story is pretty linear and the writing is nothing to wow about. But the story is still overall structured and interesting enough to keep you reading.

    H (4/5):
It's all pure love/vanilla & harem stuff. The art style is pretty good and it's backed up with voice. The game use H as a "reward" for your efforts of exploring and progression which I'd say is not bad.

Overall, I'd give the game a 4/5 based strictly on it's gameplay, story, and H. But I upped it to a 5/5 because I personally really enjoy RPG & puzzel/exploration that makes you think&focus. If you are here for a challenge then I say this game would be worth a try.

This is your typical and basic RPG games, no special or interesting mechanics or techniques to me. H-aspect is vanilla harem.

Story: 3/5. It's ok, the story put some mysteries here and there, enough to trigger your curiosity. It's linear plot, and the harem ending (the only ending) did not satisfy me.

    Gameplay: 3/5. Average.
    • Max level is only 60.
    • Too many gears with too many kinds of effect, none of the gears being "meta". While it's ok to balance gears, the drawback of this is that it makes it quite hard to decide which gears are best optimized for which characters, so it's up to your preference instead.
    • Monsters have ridiculous power, HP scaling and ridiculously strong mechanics in late game. You may even encounter high-level area when you're still low level, which may cause you confusion not sure where to go first.
    • Maps design is good, having some nice investment in mechanics and puzzles. Though you may have to open your eyes widely, paying attention and explore every nook and cranny or else you may miss something important, which is annoying to me. The most annoying map which consumed most of my time is The Madness Forest, there's no clue which path to pick here, you gotta guess and remember. I wish you all good luck finding 1 of the 8 elders here.
    • There's no sex-related mechanics or status, showing your progress toward any girl. Since the story is linear you can only see the development with the girls by yourself.
    • The game has no New game+.
Note: Do not skip too many mono/dialogues or you may not know where to go next.

CG: 4/5. Nice and hot H-scenes accompanies by voices, though too few scenes for me and no animation.

Overall 3/5. A good game to skip time. No re-playable value, but there's still re-fappable CGs.

The story is good enough to read, overall plot is interesting, balance combat, the grind is quite easy, good voice acting, the segs is balanced.
Lacking in weapon balancing, hard bosses, and is quite short (<10 hours even if u maxing everything)
