Renaming the characters

Dear all,
Actually i am new to this forum moreover i have no knowledge of computer language. I need your special help that what is the procedure to rename the characters in the game?? is it some special job or some good hacking is required to done the same?? if it is a simple job please explain . i will be very very thankful to you.

It depends on the game engine. Ren'Py? Relatively easy. Others? Not so much
