Ren'Py Renpy Patch

Hi all,

I am in the process of starting a new Renpy game. The style will be similar to Man of the House, Big Brother etc.

The main character (male) will live with "foster" parents, or something similar (to bypass Patreon's rules).

Since I'm starting the game from scratch, is there a best coding practice to allow a patch to be provided and applied?

The reason I ask is because obviously most games out there with patches were originally made before Patreon revised its rules, and so the patches had to be built in to thousands of lines of code.
