Renpy Question: Text over animations?

Hi all. So I'm doing Daz animations and moving them to PS as image series. I'm doing this because I can render the environment as a background, then animate the characters with no background, keeping whatever light sources there are in the environment as well as any 3D objects the character interacts with. It dramatically cuts down render time because I only need to render the environment once. Of course I can't move the camera bc of the BG, so it will cut somewhere else as I splice the sequences on the timeline.

My idea is to do a montage of stills and short animations to cut down on the mechanical-ness but still introduce movement. The stills will be done as part of the timeline in PS as well. They'll appear for a few seconds, change, move back to animation, and so on.

I'm wondering if there's a way to put text over this animation, and do so in a way that coincides with the appropriate render or animation. My intention is to put the stills and the animations in the video rather than just as a render with a pause.

You can do that within Ren'Py. You can pile up multiple things by using "show" and hide them by doing "Hide"
You can show a video as animation, then show an image on top of it as text.
Then, once you're done, you can simply do "scene".
