Ren'Py Request for a Simple Mod to Disable Gallery in "Our Red String" by Eva Kiss

Hi everyone,

I'm playing the visual novel Our Red String by Eva Kiss, and I’ve encountered a problem that really affects my experience. The game has an option to unlock the entire gallery instantly, and it's very tempting to use this option when I’m not happy with the choices I’ve made. Once I see the unlocked scenes, it spoils the experience of making choices in a choice-driven game. I'm in the initial chapters so it hasn't ruined my experience that much, but it has the potential to do so later down the line.

I would like a mod that simply disables the gallery, so that even if I click on the gallery section, it won't open. This would help me maintain the immersive experience without the temptation to spoil things by checking out scenes prematurely.

I understand this might be game-specific, but if possible, could someone create a simple mod for this that I can just drop into the game folder? I would really appreciate any help or guidance on how to achieve this.

To be clear...

Are you looking for mod to reset the "unlock entire gallery" (assuming you've already used it)?

Or are you looking for a mod to disable the whole gallery - so that you can't look at it at all (even if you've met the criteria to see the pictures/replays)?

Edit: Already written one of those (sort of)...
Put the attached file zzz_screen_preferences.rpy in the /game/ folder.
This will force the game back into "normal gallery" mode. The gallery will still work, and will show images you've already unlocked. However, it will switch off the "forced gallery unlock" and disable the preferences option that allows you to switch it back on. No more gallery cheating for you.

This file is not guaranteed to work on future versions of the game. It will likely continue to work (since there's no reason for the dev to rework this part of the game). But I can't predict their future choices.

Thank you for your help! I really appreciate the time you took to create that mod.

However, I’d still like a way to completely disable the gallery because it's misleading in a heavily choice-driven game like Our Red String. For example, in Lens's masturbation scene thinking about Ian, the gallery also shows the other variations of Lena's masturbation, even if I haven't unlocked them.

This makes the gallery unreliable and full of spoilers—it reveals scene options I never experienced, shows which characters are involved in different chapters, and overall ruins the mystery of playing naturally.

So, I’d really like a mod that fully blocks the gallery—meaning, I can’t open it at all. A cheat or simple mod that removes or disables the gallery tab would be perfect. That way, I won’t be tempted to check it and spoil my own playthrough.

Would something like this be possible? Thanks again!

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to update you all—I managed to create the Gallery Disable Mod myself with the help of ChatGPT! I’m not a coder or developer at all, so this is a huge win for me.

I don't know what I was doing but somehow I managed to pull it off.

The mod completely blocks access to the gallery and displays "Gallery is Disabled" instead. I also added a "Back to Menu" button so you don’t get stuck.

I’m attaching the mod here in case anyone else wants to use it. Big thanks to those who pointed me in the right direction—it was a wild ride, but I pulled it off!
