VN - Ren'Py - Return to the Cabin [Ep.1] [PPanGames]

I have played this dev's previous game so I was well aware of the possible limitations I would come across in this new game, and even like that I was surprised by how bad it is.
He took what was a decent abandoned game and added nothing of value, in fact, just made it worst.
Let me start with the only positive of the game: the visuals. They are not top notch, but they are decent, The main LI, the mom, is attractive but she doesn't look like a mom character, looks like 20 yo woman, more like a sister, still not bad visually. That's it

Then the characters themselves are so dumb, the "mom" character is just a sex doll, it is not even a person or a character, she is literally there to get fucked either by the creep protagonist or by the other characters. Nothing about her makes you think of a mom character, even the MC treats her as a sexdoll he found off the streets and can get away with sexual assaulting, which is all the "romance" going on between them.

It is impossible to like or even take her seriously, because her personality is non existent. And since she is just a sex doll, there is no build up or relationship progress, just skip everything and just "grab her by the pussy" and thats it, that's all MC does (and I assume the other characters as well), it is just so dumb, uninteresting and boring. Like I went back to 2016 and played one of those extremely amateurish and low effort porn games with stupid/lazy plots and characters. Calling this an AVN is giving it too much credit, I think a short gallery that shows everyone just fucking the woman would have made more sense, because he isn't trying to tell a story or have actual characters here, the only thing of value is sex.
Dialogs are the same as all his other projects, mediocre and cringe at times, already talked about how the characters are bad and the story/writing as well, just bad. If you play this, just ctrl skip to the sex or download a gallery mode, don't waste your time.

"What is dead may never die" was taken literally here.


Story:

When the grandpa is away(Dead and rotting in the ground) the son will play. So the original wasn't an oscar nominated game but it was tolerable. If you're going to revamp a game like this then why not take the good and focus on improve the hiccups of the original to possibly make it better. But instead the dev took everything from the original. Like the original, there was barely any build up before the MC starts turning into the creep monster.

Like the other poster pointed out, they had minimum convo as normal functioning family before the MC turns on his "charm". It would've been smarter to build on this before crashing out so soon. The Dev just made it even more unserious than before. There's no pacing, everything felt rushed. Nothing new other than what we already experienced in the original except it's sped up more into I believe 3 chapters? No other characters then the 3 we've seen. The "Vanilla route" is just filled with sleep creep juice and the other.. nevermind.

Sometimes it's best to leave things alone..

Dialogue/Writing:

Basic. If you're familiar with the Dev's previous work then there's not much to expect in terms of story depth or character development.

Overall:

Three games total. One was abandoned, the other was behind a paywall so I dropped it and now it appears to be stagnant. And this of course, another lazy "Fan made" bait for quick cash. Good luck in your future endeavors.

I didn't realize going into it that this was a remake by someone other than the initial dev. That doesn't change anything, but it is worth noting.

It could be due to choosing the NTR route (though I can't see how), but there's absolutely no lewd content in the first episode. MC gets close so many times, and then the scene dies out or he pussies out. It's genuinely annoying.

Renders are good, but there are issues with poses and clothes. If I'm honest, that isn't something that dissuades me from playing a VN, I've just learned how to spot corners being cut.

The story is pretty much the same as the original game, if you've ever played that, obviously with the new dual route system being a huge change.

I can't imagine it being worth playing both routes unless one has different lewd content than the other, but so far there doesn't seem to be any lewd content anyway.

I'd skip this if you want to fap or just enjoy seeing nudity. I don't think I'll ever understand why certain devs go out of their way for a slow burn that never really actually starts burning. Perhaps this one will surprise us in episodes 2 and 3.

Game deserves higher rating than it has, maybe not 5 as its a slightly watered down story wise of the original, however its still hot with a milf i like the look of and like hows shes chasing more. Just hopefully it s going to lead to multiple sex scenes and not one at the very end of the game.

It’s a well-made game, brought back from the ashes, and it adds an OPTIONAL NTR route (for the radical crybabies), which I personally enjoy a lot. In fact, I wouldn’t play if it weren’t for this route. I never rate games, but I feel compelled to write a review and give it a good rating because I can’t stand the crybabies anymore—backward, radical, and intolerant people who bash it just for containing NTR, even though it’s OPTIONAL. Some people are just idiots, and there’s nothing you can do about it. Thank you so much, and keep up the good work. It has the potential to become one of the best games on this site for me.

To be honest, as a newcomer with no knowledge about the previous game on which it is inspired on, I don't see anything wrong with it!

This is just all around bad. The Dev says at the end of the update that he took it upon himself to finish this story because he was a fan and it being abandoned was unacceptable. No, what's unacceptable is you butchering a story that already had flaws to begin with.

Let's unpack this:

The story not only was not improved but made worse. The MC is now dumber and even more horny just for the sake of it. The conversation between he and the female main character was normal for like 5 minutes but the very moment they arrive at the cabin it's instant perving, instant spying and blank staring. What's horrible is that this is supposedly a place that's triggering for her, a place that she's had traumatic experiences in the past and how is she rewarded? By more perving from not only the MC but the cliché old man that last I checked was a decent widower in the original game. He starts groping and creeping on her while the MC is present. The same MC that just vowed to be there for after she gives him an earth shattering backstory on her past.

Of course, the Female character is even more stupid and submissive than before... So, I ask the question of what was improved? This mockery only hurts the original project. The female lead still looks like a teenager which is kinda on brand with the Dev considering his characters that are supposed to be milfs usually looks like teens. The writing is worse, he managed to make the MC unlikable. Cut out the other characters so now everything revolves around either the creepy MC perving on Female protagonist or the creepy old man. That's literally the story. He's already poorly paced this story to the point where the player is now almost caught up with the original. So now what?

The Gameplay is also not enjoyable because of this big ass textbox and sprite combination that takes up nearly 30% of the screen. A lot of pressing of the H key which is never fun.

Because let's face it, money is the only reason he's doing this because it has nothing to do with passion or bettering the story otherwisehis first two projectswould'vesuffereda better faith. I'd say good luck with this but it would be disingenuous.

Looks very promising , very nice rendering and who cares if mom looks bit young. Well done !! Don't care for NTR haters who give poor ratings only to justify their disapprobation. Hope NTR path becomes a spicy story where the old fart can get into knickers step by step. Look forward next update.

A very low effort attempt at a romance+ntr game. So low effort that it is just taking an abandoned game as a base, cant even think of his own characters.
So of course when playing this also feels low effort, dialogs are boring and a hassle to read, the story is so basic it is almost insulting to call it that, characters are the usual in incest games but of course the female mc has to be dumbed down and made more unlikeable to include the other content, so she is just there to get fuck, either by her son, random ugly men, or anything with a penis, her character just doesn't exist, she is just a walking vagina, the game needs her to be just pussy, tits and ass. Nothing more to her character. Same for the male characters they are just all creeps that would be in jail for life for rape/sexual assault if the existed irl.

Tldr: low effort "remake" of a game that isn't his and seems more like an attempt at a quick cash grab by appealing to fans of an abandoned game.

I am baffled by the other review so here's my two cents. This game has NO meaningful interactions. The choices you get to make is the path and what bikini the mom wears.

The story (so far) is very much on rails with 0 player input.

Also not a fan of the mom model, she looks in her early twenties instead of being age appropriate and it takes you out of the story from the start.

So far it's just another run of the mill kinetic novel.
