Ripping hstream.moe "4K" streams?

Anyone know how to use yt-dlp to rip off this website's "4K" video files? I tried adding the manifest.mpd but I think it's being blocked. I tried using a VPN but that didn't work either.

Owner of that website here (lol), you can afaik download them with a tool called "get-sauce" on Github (Google: gan-of-culture/get-sauce)

We don't have any CORS protection or DRM on the DASH streams, as it doesn't work with our video player.

then enter the following "get-sauce -c 0 hstream link"

this should download the 4k .mp4 with the subtitles included

I also use that site to watch hentai. Although I don't really see any difference between 1080p and 4k...

You need 4K TV or monitor but it's hard to see the difference on a small monitor anyway. Hentai is 2D animation so it's harder to see the pixel difference when comparing to live action or 3D CGI.

did the 4k video download at least ? that is the important part . you can download a lower quality version from the website directly and use that subtitles for the 4k vid . use MKVtoolnix to merge it . also as of me writing this if you link a discord to the site you get 5 free 4k downloads from the site per day .

I nvm I figured out a way lol. As I'm downloading it with get-sauce I just make a copy of the .ass file before it gets softcoded into the video. Then I hardcode the subtitles with ffmpeg

yes that can happen sometimes . sometimes the video does not get softcoded and you have to manually merge the .mp4 .acc and .ass
