VN - Ren'Py - Ripples [v0.7.0 Public] [Jestur]

Over all this is a very good VN.

I can see it's influenced by anime and my anime experience is limited to a few shows I like.

The models look good, the Dev seems to be throwing in variety rather than having all the girls with weirdly over sized boobs which is a plus. The graphics and animations are done very well.

Darci has been an early favorite of mine both her character and physically however she has shaped up to be the tsundere one which easily can get old and annoying. She's quickly being surpassed by other girls, notably Alyssa and 1999 Jenny. Hopefully the Dev will have her relax some with the MC and her feelings for him sooner rather than later.

There are a couple characters that are a bit annoying or don't add much to the story, Jessica and mom's yoga friend ( forgot her name already) but not too major.

The story line and writing are entertaining and done well. Any story involving time travel can easily become convoluted or flat out weird like someone becoming their own father or father of their sister, hopefully this one stays away from that. Sometimes keeping things simple or straight forward is best.

One area this also shines are the little easter eggs sprinkled in such as the picture of Judie on Alyssa's dresser, George Carlin's 7 words you can't say on T.V. and the nod to Rias Gremory in the cell phone wall papers as examples.

This is a VN where I look forward to updates. I can't wait to see how things progress with Tiffany and to see where things go with Jessica. Hopefully more of Jenny as well, hopefully without the story line getting too complex or weird twists, this one is good enough it doesn't need extra gimmicks.

Really great game, basically. Story is original enough and very engaging without sacrificing actual sex content like certain games. The models themselves are a bit generic but look good, but the animations in the sex scenes help elevate them a lot. Looking forward to new releases and definitely supporting the game now!

The Breakdown:

The Animation/Visuals/Sex Appeal:

• There's not much to say regarding the visuals as it uses an engine and a set of models used by a lot of other VNs. They look good and look polished, but I don't hold it against the devs of Ripples that the models sometimes looks a little stiff or awkward.
• Where the visuals shine are during the animation loops during the sex scenes. The action seemed fluid and also felt kinetic, and the looping was seamless. There were times when I found myself thinking I was watching a really long scene, but really the action was on loop and I never even noticed.
  • The direction and choreography was also top-notch as you almost always got to see the action you would want to see.

The Writing:

I honestly think this is where this VN really shines. The writing was the driving force behind my interest in this game, and kept me hooked right up to the end of episode 5.

While the threw me for a bit of a loop early on, I thought it was honestly as well done as that trope could ever be, and I'm saying that as someone who hates that trope. There were times when I felt the storyline got in the way of the main one, or vice versa, but the writing always managed to bring it back around to that connective narrative tissue.

The other thing about the writing that I really liked was the fact that each of the characters seemed to have their own distinct 'voice', so to speak. The common stereotypes you see in other media had a bit of a twist on them, and each of the major characters/love interests all had tantalizing threads you wanted to keep pulling on. There wasn't really a moment in the game when I felt that one character overlapped egregiously with another, or that a character did not provide anything meaningful to the overall narrative .

Overall, really nicely done. The humor was really good, while the drama was captivating.

Ok, so normally at this point i would write a detailed review, picking apart the different aspects of the game and scoring it.

Forget that, hands down this is 10/10 across all fronts. Quite possibly the best game on this site, perhaps close second to Eternum.

I would play this for the story even if there were no H scenes in it, the truth is the H scenes just add the perfect touch to the story, and leave you impressed and hungry for more. I find myself impatient for the updates because i want to know whats going to happen next, and i keep changing my mind on which girl i like the best. Honestly its impossible to choose.

So, this is me off to Sub for this developer, because .. yeah. damn. im all in.

This game has the highest escalation rate in terms of quality as the different updates have come and gone. the story remains intriguing despite the ample amount porny situation the MC gets into. Lots of other great things as well like how both the young and milf versions are so good it is hard to pick which is better. Just hope the the plotline doesnt fizzle out since the hype buildup is bringing about great expectations.

An average porn heavy VN with decent enough plot and a few interesting characters, most of which fall in love with MC way too quickly to feel satisfied.

There was a handful of good kinky scenes, which I liked.

Renders and animations are good, but models could look better as we have seen in some other HS2 games. Loved the normal sized titties though.

For me this game is 3.5, but given its current rating I can't give more than 3 stars. Seriously, this game has no challenges for the MC which is boring!

Edit: that late night movie scene with the landlady seemed realistic to me and was easy to immerse into, which was super hot. It hit my weak spot, so I change the rating to 4 for that

Game is sooo good. Didn't have that high expectations but it turned out to be a truly amazing experience.

Models are top tier. Some of the best animation ive seen on this site. Sex scenes are long and detailed.

Story is interesting and enganging. I was wondering what the author meant by sci-fi since it wasn't explicited anywhere but im glad i played it to find out.

Characters are more than just two dimensional and have actual personalities that make them stand out. MC isn't a dumbass either which is always a plus in my book.

Overall this game has so much potential, and if the author keeps the quality of this game consistent i am almost sure it will be one of the best AVNs out there by the time it gets completed.

One of the best VNs ive seen. Great renders, probably best animations, great music, best sound effects, pretty common plot twist but quite enjoyable nevertheless, great characters and interesting dialogs. Overall easily top 5 VNs i would say. Great work out there!

I'm just a little scared because the story reminds me of the "Dark" series and I don't want to spoiler but if the same thing happens (genetically speaking) then it might be a little weird, but fortunately we are not there yet.

Really good for an HS game, those don't usually appeal to me, but there's something special about this.

The images are really good, they look better than the standard HS games.

The characters are believable and have different personalities which is a plus.

I like the harem aspect of this one a lot. Not just because it's a harem game, but because it's done well. The way the paths weave in and out with the girls is very thoughtful.

Overall just a wonderful laid back game that will hit you ever now and then. I'd say give it a try.

story: 5/5 Despite the very average translation I had, I found the story very good, a good mix of humor, drama and SF

characters: 5/5 The female characters are all very well done and we get attached to them without any problem

sex scene: 5/5 They are really very erotic, and for the most part a great length with different scenes!

renders: 5/5 Absolutely beautiful, I find nothing to say about it

animation: 4/5 Just like the renderings, the animations are absolutely beautiful and in very good quantities! on the other hand, I can't put 5, because I don't know if it's only for me, but at each beginning of animation there is like a past image that appears furtively, which is quite unpleasant

sound: The erotic sounds and the music are very good, but as in many games there are sometimes empty moments without music

gameplay: 4/5 The choices are not extremely numerous, but it is not disturbing in this kind of vn that relies mainly on its story

To preface this I would say I'm not usually someone who enjoys VNs because I'm too scatterbrained and unable to stay focused especially when things start to get dull. However, I am glad I gave this a fair try.

TLDR: Great game, Great animation, Great immersion and Great characters Good overall story.

After finishing v0.4.6 I would say this is one of the best on the site. It does well in all categories. What really wins me over in games is good immersive animations and this game scores a 10 in that and not just because of the great animation itself. It's the sound effects. No matter how good some animation is in some games if all I have is some common royalty free music to go with it, my immersion isn't going to be all there.

What really earned my 5 stars is the story and characters aswell. As I said at first it's hard for me to focus, so when the story, scene or character start to get dull or repetitive I get too skip happy and ruin entire games for myself. To sum it up, this game does what it's trying to do real well.

The overall main story isn't the most unpredictable and that's honestly fine, because I feel like Ripples does real well at making you interested in the characters themselves.

Definitely, one of the best game here.

The first thing I want to mention it is sex sounds. They are the best. For some reasons there are not a lot of games that have at least some sex sounds. I am not even saying about a good one. If you are not ok with sex sounds u can turn off them in settings.

The sex scenes and animations are great.

The plot is not my cup if tea but it is also not weak spot so no nagging about it from my side.

I would like to have a more diversity between girls fashion styles and facial expression (It is classic problem of HS games). Some of them looks too similar. Please, understand, me correctly, it is not a critical problem at all. it is just a point for improvement.

The game is not sandbox and that's great because devs usually do not have skills and resources to implement sandbox in a good and decent way.

There are some sex scenes without actual sex. I hate them honestly speaking but there are not too much of them.

Sex scenes are just right, Playthroughs are fun. Characters are consistent and un-boring. Actually no complain other than the limit of character design, but thats just how it is with renpy or the software the author is using. Give this game a chance.

I will rate it 3.5/5. It is one of those time travel paradox plots, thanks to "Dark" we have quite the abundance. It is ambitious but difficult to pull off a reasonable time travel plot without plotholes. I have doubts that this one will be successful. It takes a rather serious tone to writing. As of end of Ep. 4, story is intriguing enough to hook the audience to play the updates, but its quality hangs by a thread imo.

+The renders are good but Honey Select greatly minimizes variety of physical appearances of girls.
+Sexual content is satisfactory with animations, sound etc.
+Lots of pop culture and retro references
-Lots of filler dialogue
-Average and unoriginal setting
-Quirky plot development with deus ex machinas all around.
-Relationship dynamic with girls are too shallow.
-The story seriously lacks male characters. MC doesn't have a male BFF in a highschool drama. Yeah it is a harem game probably but dude get some bros before hoes to talk. That Darci character could have had a dick and just merge her tomboyness and "sexual practices" into Jessica. Right now Jessica has no impact.

In overall, the plot makes you wonder and play the game, so you bear with averageness in writing besides the main plot. Lewd scenes are good enough to distract the player on the way. I will keep coming back to this game but can't say I am amazed.

Meh, story. Nothing really sets it apart from anything else on this site.Models in the game are ok, there is an animation in the beginning of the game that almost made me turn it off right then and there with how ridiculous is looked.

Absolute top tier game. High model quality is visible in the screenshots. The animations are also excellent, not the very best I've ever seen (House in The Rift) but still great.

The girls are all distinct and have their own appeal, and IMO they are all appealing beyond their looks.

Then of course there's the story. I would play this game even without the porn. The story is actually engaging and I find myself playing even when I'm not horny

While the story initially seems a bit cookie cutter I find enough character and unique bits and pieces that I'm really enjoying the game.

A lot of the choices are more about the level of relationship you want with the people involved as opposed to the storyline. I suppose if I were to make s suggestion it might be to do as I've seen in other games to identify if a choice is really significant to the future path. Since this is a time travel situation it can be a little more challenging than usual. Particularly if you were going to try to pickup the game on a new update after several months.

Overall - story quite good, relationships pretty hot. (really like Jenny and Skylar), programming seems fairly solid, animations are fluid. Only glitch I noticed was getting the sound out of sync when spanking Skylar and clicking the mouse instead of letting the seen play out. (my bad)

● Story/plot - 9.5/10
Plot is great, one of I enjoyed most in recent VNs.

I like it looks like another "big dick guy at school" but there is something more and that whole main plot I find interesting. I really enjoyed the "backstage" too, like MC playing real VN games, talking about real(?) anime with passion and I really felt they are interested in it in the way they were talking about it. It even made me looking for some anime to watch myself but meh, that's not for me unfortunately. Interactions and dialogues are solid in general with nice sense of humor. I also like intensity of action, it feels very natural although I was only like 3 days in-game time? Time traveling tho is dangerous topic to play with and is easy to make it look bad, devs handled it quite well I would say.

What I liked less were some behaviors sometimes, like what happened after "shit ninja". After 5 minutes it looked like they all got over with it. I mean lol, Brad had it on the phone, why didn't they watch it again and discuss it or show it to Jackie who knows shit about physics? They barely talked about it at all like it was "another day at school"... Also everyone is a bit too nice to each other in dialogues and MC mentiones too often that he helped someone with something, like he is hungry for praise or something.

● Graphics/visuals/renders quality - 9/10
I'm not anime fan but those who are will be amazed by these renders. Although I really like them, they are great quality and it is nice to see something different yet still at high level.

● Animations - 9.5/10
Same as above, top notch if graphics style in general suits you.

● Music - 5/10
I find it the hardest part for many VNs. Although music is fine and well matched there is too little variety of it and it often gets annoying when scene lasts a while and all I hear is 15 seconds looped music. Also there are some problems from the coding perspective I think, like new scene starts new song, I go next scene, go back and music sometimes reset and sometimes goes mute completely.

● Characters - 9/10
I love mimics and overall behavior of each character. They all act great, dialogues look natural with nice sense of humor. Tbh every female character is adorable and could be main LI, it is hard to like most just one of them and there are loooots of them. Despite this amount of them I didn't feel like they are repeatable or something, at least not in bad way. There are barely any male characters but it is better this way than having another jester-best-friend.

● Amount of content - 8/10
Well... It is E4 for now and I hope for many more to come, it took me some hours to get through it tho. Despite main plot there is anything really to do like free-roam or some mini-games, any character stats or so. That is not bad and I did not feel any need for for that since there is constantly some kind of action but still, it is just a VN type of game.

Great renders and animations, great characters, great and not easy to write well plot. Surprisingly this one is one of the top I ever played.

Ok, for a damn long time I've splept on this game. For some reason, the begining of the game didn't give me great vibes, Darci felt way too straight forward to me for just a "friend", and at the same time she had cousin vibes, I dunno. The dialogues sometimes also felt a bit corny, but were improving the more I played. I guess sometimes introductions aren't easy to do. Was for quite long time to try again due feedback but for no reason I got lazy to try it again.

Anyway, I finally gave the game another chance and the "theme" of the game finally had me hooked. Definitely wasn't expecting it, and the introduction of the thriller was very well introduced, I really felt the involvement in the game as a player. I have no idea why, but the powerplant tunnel vibe along with going into the past made me remember of Fallout for some reason.

Anyway, just starting the episode 2 at the moment, but now I know why Caribdis gave a shoutout for this on Oailt. It has a decent balance of comedy, thriller, and character growth so far. Also, the MC doesn't act like a douche, and all the girls in general are likeable (Maybe except Darci at the begining but she started to grow on me).

Definitely a fun game so far, and worthy of patronage if the quality keeps up on the next episodes. The dev also seems engaged within his fans from what I understand on the thread, which is nice. Give the game a try, and if you like it support it, seems worthy due quality and dev comunication.
