Ren'Py - Rogue-like: Evolution [v1.6h] [Oni]

I've been checking out this game on and off for years now and just like others have previously pointed it out this is a patreon milking project of grand scale. This far cry from a kinetic novel with, there I say "sandbox" elements is nothing short of utter garbage. The fact that it has such a high rating baffles me. You will find simple Japanese hentai visual novels more entertaining than this crap.

First of all the story is bland. Nothing ground-breaking so 0 points for that. The UI didn't receive any major updates since forever and is atrocious. The gameplay loop is the most meaningless shitty grind you will have in a kinetic novel ever. Figuring out how to progress with the girls is also just more painful than entertaining. Not to mention the fact that update wise you will get essentially a middle finger every month for your support on patreon and have been getting it for around 7-8 years now... The only singular good thing I can say about the "game" is that the art is animated and at least consistent. That's it.

It is a true enigma that this joke has more than than a 4 out of 5 star average rating on this site. You are all true masochists guys! Damn... not one to kink shame but, DAMN...

- be ready read the code or ask for help in forum, cuz no w/t/guide here
- there almost zero story, its not nachteil- for such games its ok
CONS:
- very overcomplicated and hidden mechanics w/o any normal explanations. or faq. as example- by reading code i found interesting girls trait- "exhibitionist". how to give that trait to girl? u must be caught 3+ times for adult actions in public(i recomend do that with StormX or RogueX) to obtain hint- where is "Xavier's files", then u must take certain girl (StormX or RogueX) to xaviers ofice and take evidence. then u must be caught again(!) and then u can force xavier to allow public adult actions for 1(!) girl. then after some actions girl may obtain that "exhibitionist" trait. ok, u can say- its hard, but posible, but... in game mechanics exist another hidden parameter- girlX.Taboo- embarrassing stat aaand that stat after EVERY part of stripping and every adult action raises to 40(u must be full of "energy" and girl also)
- some girls r different(much more complicated to harem way), like emma or jean(they start with zero love stat instead 300-500+ like other girls).

CONCLUSION:
we have very good game with terrible "periphery"- no faq, ho guide, no w/t, no hints. i recomend to play only in moded version to avoid some grind, to improove qol and for monitoring stats(like: mod allow u tracking "taboo" stat).
if u dnt like sanbox xor grind and u have no wish/not able read code or read game thread - avoid that game

Great game with a lot of variety in the scenes and characters (specially if you are a X-Men's fan), very good art and not in the grindy side thankfully. A real 5/5 and its still in development, so its gonna be even better

Decent game, much fun to be had if it's your first time playing it. Apart from that it's one of the most successful ongoing patreon scams.

The game released some 7 or so years ago and the current version is pretty much identical to the alpha build. All the dev has added are new girls that bring nothing new, no unique interactions or dates you can go on, same thing with all, even the clothes are mostly the same.

The whole premise that you are irresistible or that girls get addicted to touching you and you can use that to coerce them into naughty stuff is great but the dev doesn't want to go all the way so it ends up amounting to nothing. Rogue or whoever will get desperate and in the end they just forcibly touch you and reset their addiction, it's pointless. It could've been expanded to humiliation play while on dates and such without getting too brutal but that would be too much work to code.

Its a great game.

You should focus on classes and training room at the start to gain levels and unlock your addictiveness. After that conquering almost anyone becomes easy (hug them to get some addiction).

A bit grindy at start, but in a few hours of gameplay you will be constantly attacked by aroused girls. Often they will walk into your room, when you have sex with someone else and decide to join in a threesome.

There is a threesome management system with alot of options. Wanna have BJ from one girl while kissing another? - its possible. Want one girl to clean up another by licking her? - possible too. Damn its great, and I've never seen such system in any other game.

Everything is based on game mechanics. No story BS or quests with a wall of text. Devs definitely knew what's really important for gameplay and focused on it.

I've enjoyed what I've played so far. There isn't really much story some characters (mainly Gwen fangirling over the characters) will give you some backstory, and you give some simple answers to progress the story. Other than that there's not a lot. The animations are nice and the characters are drawn well that I can get off to them. The only complaints is there isn't any audio, The threesome scenes is just extra dialog with one character watching while you have sex with the other and there are hitches when two or more people in the room but that could possibly just be the cheat mod making it lag. If you don't mind grinding (or cheating) then I'd recommend it.

a very wonderful romance game on the x-men. No sounds of any kind in game but not a problem for me, has a good amount of interaction with the women ranging from head pats. hand holding, dates, gifting outfits, and many different sex scenes. Started of getting close to rogue, got friendly with laura, ended up with both cleaning us all up in the showers, i think i know what heaven looks like now.

cool concept, trainer type gameplay. cool models, with a variety of different characters from the Marvel/Xmen universe. range of different deeds, from oral, anal, vaginal etc. ass licking. so has alot of the basic core sex features at your disposal.. animations are insanely welcome, not insanely detailed, meaning not the most mind blowing ive seen, but it suffices more than enough to enhance the gameplay.

the initial gameplay loop is quite tedious, so my advice is to enable the console commands, and then level your player up max, and then increase your addictiveness, as then everyone wants you in a much more enjoyable pace, than originally intended. means you can fine tune it, and still work for it, but not be waiting a millenia. or if you want immediate faps, then use the console command and increase the love of each person.

after using the console commands, i really did enjoy its concept, although outside of the ladies needing a dose of you like a crack addict (flattering).. theres not too much else to do, discover or explore outside of that initial gameplay loop.. so often youll find yourself just repeating the same tasks over and over, as this isnt exactly a story rich title that drives you in on it, especially if you already know most its lore. though admiteddley you can see the developer has put alot of effort to include characters lore and additional details of their origins.. the little chats, the characters remembering little details from conversations is pretty neat, wish that was expanded on a little more though. same with how the girls will essentially force touching your face if you deprive them of their fix.. you have an option to refuse, and then grab their arm, but can never over power them? id love some dynamic play here, if they can force themselves on me, i should be able to do the same, whilst of course getting negative stat on the relationships.. that option would be cool.

another thing, theres quite a few cool characters, and i love how they look and act differently from eachother. however, id love to have more fine tuned details, so having their pubes grow more, so bigger bushes, from basics, to then expanding onto their inner thighs, pubes around the anus, also the same in regards to how thick it is. general body hair. of course dependant on the character and what you think makes sense for them aka x-23 definatelt seems the type to be FULL ON APE HAIRY all round..

id love some more positions in sex, and the animations being improved. sound actually being added so SFX for sex and stuff.

MORE variety in partners, Male, female, trans male and female etc. to add some variety in what we choose to explore. would be cool. as then you could be a top or bottom, which could change the dynamics of the relationship dependant if youre a sub or a dom in that specific narrative with a character that otherwise could technically Top you. and exploring that.

but all in all is a pretty fun game to play around on, provided you use the console commands to find that personal balance that suits what it is you want and how you wanna play it. if you still want to EARN their affection, just increase your level, cash and also your addictiveness. enjoy.

two stars missing due to missing SFX, The insane grind, and a lack of the wishlisted features listed above. some overall QOL improvements needed, some variety in partners, genders of said partners, general tweaks to the progression system (dont change it, just let us tweak it in game).. more pube options, more to do in the games world, and just more random world events. let us be an actual XMen, do hero shit, or be bad.. let us randomly come across a person who needs help, do we take advantage of them? by non con, or agreeing to help on perverted or materialistic agendas? or do we choose to be good and help irregardless. theres so much that can and could be done to expand on the pros of this game, and also add to it to enhance its gameplay and world. hmu if you need help!

Honestly, the art is great. But that's all this has going for it. The grind is annoying, to get anyone to max other than Rouge is a pain in the ass and not really worth it, the "threesome" mechanic really doesn't work at all, some parts of the game are pointless (such as the mall, as a whole, basically never needs to be gone to after the first time you're taken there), getting in trouble kills any momentum the game actually has when it happens, meaning some scenes you'll outright avoid...

I checked this out thinking that a game started in 2016 being updated regularly would have a ton of content. It really doesn't have much going on.

I fully understand that 2D art takes a long time to do compared to other methods, and technically every girl has their own sprites for sex scenes, but there really is not much variation when actually playing through. The sex scene mechanics mean you're basically just playing the same couple animations over and over.

The writing is fine, but nothing particularly interesting. There are some basic quest mechanics and different interactions with characters, but it really feels pointless when the end result is the same thing you've seen a dozen times already. I guess you either really get into the basic concept of this game, or get absolutely nothing from it.

I've been enjoying this game for a long time and I don't think I'll get tired of it any time soon. I love the artstyle, the variety of characters, interactions with them, a great amount of dialogue options and all the sex stuff. You can play however you want, hate or love any girl you want and do whatever you want with any of them, you can roleplay as a chivalrous gentleman or as a dominating evil spawn, so the replayability of this game is simply endless.
Despite Oni being very slow with updates to the game, I get excited every time there's a new version, even if it's a freaking mess with lots of bugs. I hope he doesn't abandon this game after all those years and maybe we'll get some more content soon(TM).

Even though development is rather slow, the quality has been consistently high ever since Oni first started out. The gameplay loop may be rather simple, but it is so very fun. Artworks and sex scenes are fantastic, though the UI could use an update. Still, I highly recommend it!

this game is all about grinding the girls. Visually, the models are okay-tier, but what disappointed me the most was the fact that the image of girls and sex-animations aren't in harmony. If a girl is touching herself, you will have the normal images with her arms, then another (pair of) hand touching her... it's immersion-lacking.

Another thing I didn't like is the lack of focus and hints of where to go to have new scenes.

There are many menus and submenus in each location, but the UI doesn't provide useful information for options who are interesting.

The setting, marvel's X men school provides most of the fun and the hype : Rogue, Storm and other loved characters are in there.
Plus you can play as a female or male so that's also good.

very good art, unique story, some humor, tasteful and a realistic flirt system what is quite well balanced.

it is remarkable how much quality can be squeezed into such a small game file.

a question of taste, it is one of the few games where pubic hair has been taken care of, loving it.

i was quite surprised of this piece of art and hope this project continues.

honestly it is not perfect, but the few bugs (the artist even warns about) dont bother me and i find it still excellent.

Pros: 1) Great artwork of all the girls
2) Simple gameplay: there's no story so you get to the point fast. Also you won't ever need to worry about money nor that girls won't interact with you ever again. Heck you don't even need to do anything because they'll come to your room anyway (more on it in Cons)
3) Great variety of things to do during sexual encounters

Cons: 1) No music and no sounds at all
2) Stats don't really matter because all of the girls at some point come to your room for "refreshments" that lead to a stat gain most of the time. Even of they're "mad" at you for breaking their boundaries they'll still talk like nothing happened after 2 in game days. Also making anyone your girlfriend doesn't matter at all because you don't get bonus scenes and the only outcome I've seen is that the girlfriend in question might be mad at you after seeing you with anyone else but like with the "mad" situation earlier they'll talk to you after some time.

Overall a very solid game. Not a lot to do in this game but I can say that I enjoyed getting everything that this piece has to offer.

The game is ambitious and tries to cover a lot of ground, but doesn’t quite hit.

Pros: The art is excellent, and the game manages to be relatively true to the characters (at least inasmuch as you can in a porn game). The sex scenes are unconventional, but hot in their own way.

Cons: It’s pretty buggy. It tries to be very sandbox, and it’s easily possible to get into situations where the game is confused (example, during sex you could be standing up while fingerIng a girl with one hand while playing with her butt with the other hand, all while sucking her boobs, *while* she is blowing you, *and* another girl is making out with her. Busy girl, but silly to the point of immersion-breaking.) And:

The sex writing hits some good buttons, but because of the procedural nature it just can’t deliver on images. You’re basically looking at a CG of the girl with some disembodied animated hand or wiener waving around in the foreground. Thinks like girls interacting with each other during a threesome are described but almost entirely left to the player’s imagination.

1. Story: I may be dumb, but I did not found out much here. If there was necessity to do X to get more story the game simply did not make it clear (2/5)
2. Originality: There are lots of parody games out there, but the game here shines more in the versatility you have in the scenes. The art is really similar to the cartoon too, so I'll give this one. (4/5)
3. Sound: There are few sounds. Mostly of them for the scenes. No music (which sucks for me). (2/5)
4. Playability: The scenes managment and the variety of girls make the game a good play. But for me, since there is no story what so ever, I went bored fast. (3/5)

6. Bugs: I had only one bug after unlocking high stats with the girls, when you do something in public Professor X ends up going wild and you get a new option when you are in his room with a girl. But when I was to try it, I received a Ren'Py error screen. (4/5)
7. +18: Art is good, the few animations are good too. Really hope this one goes longer. (4/5)
8. Amount of content: I don't know, for a game so old in the f95, I think this one lacks lacks content. Ok, there are lots of options and girls, but that is it. (3/5)

In hot scenes he's great and has tons of options!!
In the next updates I hope they will be able to add the tanning of the girls during the pool days and some movements in the sex scenes without having to download the mods....
