Oh what a terrible, terrible, awfully unfinished turd.
The UI is so unmanageable that I stared for literally 5min during the 1st battle. And same for clothing on/off. And then all over the place - placeholders that this or that is not unfinished. And tons of started stuff, tons of potential, yet not a single sex scene. For over one hour!
Well ... it is unfinished
Regarding the sex scenes (or lack of them) I'm sure this developer has expressed the intention of writing a game which has some sex/pornographic scenes in rather than the other way round (although possibly, if this is correct, it could be expressed explicitly in the thread's initial post now the developer has control)
The UI is what it is. I've definitely seen much worse.
Strikes me as a lot of preparatory work with a some very nice touches and a great deal of promise

I do think the tag list (I assume populated before the developer took over the thread) is a bit too full of stuff that is only touched on or even at this stage only hinted at.

One of the best I've seen and I've seen almost all. I like the setting with the virtual and real world. I found it to be quite immersive. Can't wait for a new version to see how our hero will be affected by what has already transpired :^) I like when the main character is at first reluctant and not fully willing about the whole feminization / sissification process but is coerced, blackmailed or forced into by people or circumstances and then inevitably corrupted ^^ tho I prefer when it happens slowly. ^^ I like where things are going with the burned clothes irl... ^^ Great game, I wish it was longer!

I wish you were able to stay a dude. I'll probably recheck this game out if they ever add a male route (i read some posts saying that it may be planned).

Is there something bugged with the baths only in the online version, because I tried to download the hotfix one and it's not load images at all maybe I'm stupid but am I missing something?

Hi, I can't post my own games here for some reasons, so for an update on the game/future and access to my new project please see this . Links to the game are in the post. You can also access the game directly but I still recommend reading the Patreon post for context. I will address the comments and questions about both this game and RTD that have been posted here in a day or two.

As I have mentioned before, I am impressed with RTD to date.
Can I ask specifically (for clarity)

Do you intend to abandon development on RTD as an html game ?

It is my firm belief you should use whatever IDE suits you best.

I have to say my experience with playing RPGmaker applications is not good. I like to download (or puchase on some medium) software and install/run while off line so I find messages advising of a missing RTP library (or somesuch) irritating.
Currently I'm fairly sure I have nothing on my PC written in RPGmaker. Rubbish, I must check before posting.
Edit: after more checking I have some RPGmaker games that run fine and some that don't - will probably have to investigate further - I think the reason I don't like them is that, to me, they have the feel of educational games

Whichever way you choose to go I wish you the best with your future development.

When this RTD was first posted here and i played it i almost impulsively went and became a patron, but after sitting on it a bit and seeing you choosing to probably go with the rpgm route i don't really see me suppoorting this or playing it. 80% of my experience with the engine is god awful and even though i can with confidence say that you can make the game reat in rpgm, it so over saturated and used to me that i completely loose interest.

That beautiful art and turn based combat of the Twine game was really engaging and way more unique than just free asset sprites and running around in an empty town which looks just like any other game. Isn't using the money you get from patreon to hire someone who knows how to handle the combat mechanics and the things you have little experience with?

Lastly the only fatnasy no irl theme you prefer to go with is absolutely fine with me, its more interesting and less overused than porn pick images of sissification.

Well anyway i hope if you read this you don't take it the wrong way and make something of my criticism.

Just wanted to say the thought of taking it more to just being about Tali and not the whole vr thing is fine by me since honestly I much prefer the fantasy setting, I will say though Twine or RenPy would run you much much better for your style then rpgmaker, but I get it if you switch. If you do go to rpgmaker then as long as you keep the combat style and have good sprites I think it'll run better. I'll stick around either way so best of luck!

I'm not sure what to say about the new version because the genre shift and rewrite has turned it into a different kind of story. It's nolonger a Sword Art Online-esque matrix dive into a fantasy world but just a pure fantasy world which takes away the relationships and changes the contexts that used to be in place as to not require short-term elaboration upon, and while that doesn't mean that the new version doesn't work and isn't viable on its own, it does make it into a different setting and makes for different kinds of characters we're interacting with. Hmm.. Not bad but different and those who wanted what was will probably be disappointed that it isn't that anymore.

Story aside, I've no problems with RPGM myself. It works fine for me. The combat is a little bit broader due to the change since it encompasses more than just two abilities, and I did appreciate that defeat doesn't seem to mean gameover, but a slightly different scene instead. What I was unhappy about gameplaywise is how at the end of the demo you get into two fights that may as well not be fights because you're expected to lose. I never tried it, but I got the feeling that persistence, luck and careful check on your healing may allow you to win the day, but to me it just isn't worth that kind of time and effort unless there is some great benefit to it, so I feel it would be easier to just make it a cutscene instead unless there is more than a slightly different dialogue and the same conclusion anyway hidden behind the victory screen.

In general Tale of Tali has a competent start, but a less unique one. Not to say RTD was something we've never seen before, but it is a genre that's not as explored in a game format and with it came some elements that won't be very translateable in the new version, from the cross-playing to the diving into new lives and worlds to the GM watching up in the sky ready to pull tricks and plothooks to the mingling of game mechanics and genre savviness the characters may or may not have from previous games to the relationships both in and out of the game; all of which I will miss as interesting elements in the story. I wonder a little what would happen if you wrote the fantasy portion first, the real life portion second and then tried to mingle them, but that's daydreaming and I won't ask that kind of time and effort.

What I wanna know about first and foremost is what the new version will do differently from any other RPGM and/or fantasy-with-porn game and setting out there now that the VR element is out, both in terms of story, with the characters and what might be expected in terms of gameplay. Both in general and as compared to what RTD had. Of course, I also realize that is a very spoilery kind of question so I am prepared to just stick around and see where development takes us instead. The last thing I'll say is that the Patreon poll is something I didn't feel I could vote on, because while I have seen RTD in its twine format, the new story changes quite a lot and I don't feel right using it as a strict comparison against RPGM but would rather want to see how the same new story goes in twine form before I judge.

... rewrite has turned it into a different kind of story.
Have now had a go at the Tale of Tali demo.
Have to agree with MostlyHereForYuri. The dynamic of the VR vs real world has gone. The real world has gone altogether. The feel of the game (even in the VR) is very different. Battle process different.
This is a completely different game.

I think it looks good and see no reason it can't gather it's own following.
I just suspect some RTD lovers will not be ToT lovers and vice versa.

Still wishing you the best in whatever you decide.

I purposefully used in-game assets for this project to show the audience what I can do with stock engine and stock assets. A lot of the art would come over to the new engine definitely and is being tested.

Twine or RenPy would run you much much better for your style then rpgmaker
Both RenPy and Twine have the same issue of being genuinely great engines that allow a competent coder to do really cool stuff. Problem with that is I am not a competent coder, and I have to rely on other people to do those cool things for me, maintain and modify them. When I have a cool idea I can't make it a reality without pestering my friend who does the big brain JS for me, and that's just not a comfortable situation for me or them to be in.

What I was unhappy about gameplaywise is how at the end of the demo you get into two fights that may as well not be fights because you're expected to lose
Fun thing that, I started working on the last map with less than 24 hours of trial version of the engine on the clock, that's why these two feel so unpolished. That's certainly something I would revisit.

As for the shift in the story, I totally agree that it is a completely different beast. but ultimately RTD's story was something I wanted to play but turned out to be something I didn't want to write. The constraints that 2 world setting imposes on me made it hard to move things along and I kept having to put off fun ideas for quests and other stuff because "welp I gotta work on the irl section now" and since this has always been a hobby for me, I hope it's not too much of a shock when I say I don't want to keep working on it if it doesn't bring me joy. Also, I didn't really enjoy that the core aspect of my story was being stuck in a body you're uncomfortable in, which I've come to realize is something that kinda hits a bit too close to home. I understand a lot of people are upset, and for very valid reasons, but this is ultimately a choice I had to make.

A body you're uncomfortable with is a little questionable since you seemed perfectly able to embrace it, if with a little awkwardness to start off with, as to be expected, and I wonder what would happen if they were simply stuck in the VR or something similar, but I understand. Ultimately it's your game, your time and your effort to write it up, code it and so on so forth. While I will miss what could've been personally, what is likely to be doesn't seem bad either, like I said, so I'll keep tabs.

I see, in that case I see why you'd want to switch, and tbh as long as the sprite work and visuals stay consistent then I'll be happy. Thanks for being responsive I get your reasons.

RPGM is where I say peace out. If a competent dev can do well with RPGM then yeah, sure, but you said yourself you're not one.
Not to mention the constant slog of mashing the enter/space button to read at a pace that's still largely at the mercy of how fast the game wants to display a string of like 5 words. Even from good devs I've yet to have an RPGM game that I actually like how the story is presented.
To say nothing of the complete change of direction/tone that made it fun and unique.

I may be back to check out on the new project, but I highly doubt it. I'm here for the m2f and TF and all the fun that entails. Not even remotely interested in a game where the PC starts as female. Might as well just check out regular porn.
Best of luck, but I'm Audi 5000.

Is the Tali sprite chubby on purpose? I'm not saying you should change the design(even if it's not my type of tea) but since it's clearly SAO Asuna I wanna double-check it's a purposeful design choice.

Also the Bard's italic test is practically unreadable. The blend of pink on a black background and small thin text is a recipe for disaster. Maybe if it was bolded it might be better.

Aside from that, I've only read this page, but it sounds like you're considering switching to RPGMaker? If so, please please don't.

There aren't very many games that make actual decent usage of the RPGM engines, and the ones that have good contemt could just as easily be made in Renp'y for example. Also RPGM can be just as difficult to code for as either Sugar Cube or Renp'y. There's plenty of tutorials or plug-ins for either of them.

My personal unwarranted advice is to figure out if the combat system is really worth changing engines over, and consider how the other things that would be simpler in Renp'y or SugarCube- conditional variable checks, and lots of them, as well as other systems- is worth the trade-off. It might be difficult to code or get a combat plug-in to work for Renp'y or SugarCube-at least the way you have combat set up atm- but the rest of the systems are unlikely to be done in RPGM as easily as the other engines.

The other thing to consider for switching to RPGM is that this is a work in progress. Advancing and finding content is far far far more tedious with RPGM. Twine, Renp'y, you don't need to actually move the characters to explore, and if you have areas with little or no content it's a lot easier to check them in the other engines then in RPGM. By and large, RPGM is way clunkier to play, generally requires way more plug-ins to not be a slog, and only really fits games where the combat is a central focus-having a bunch of defeat CGI's, having the plot be reliant on battles and featured heavily without feeling like a slog etc etc.

The last thing couple things to consider about RPGM, is firstly unless you're packaging the RTP into the download players will need to find the correct version and install it themselves-a task that while easy is still bound to crop up dozens of questions even when explained in the Original Post :p

The other thing though, especially as a WIP, is the file size. Even if you try to skim it down by not including the RTP, it's still gonna be a large file, and one users will have to download the full version of everytime it's updated. You can't just release a single HTML file for a bugfix players can pop in their folder, they'll have to download the entire thing every time so much as a typo is fixed.

TL;DR: I think you're underestimating the ease of use of RPGM, RPGM is a huge download hog for a WIP, and in general is way way way more of hassle for players to slog through.

having a bunch of defeat CGI'
that is absolutely something I want to do

Well, I said I'm not a competent coder, which is what is kind of required to do fun, engaging, and flowing minigames in Ren'Py or SugarCube. I wouldn't go as far as to call myself an incompetent developer.

I'm fairly sure the most successful Ren'py erotic game is Summertime Saga and while the graphics there are ok (animations having lower frame rate than stuff I have lol) the minigames are absolute crap, and these guys have a massive fucking budget. I keep seeing mentions of great battle systems in Ren'Py but I've never seen any so if you know of anything I could check out I would gladly give it a look. I know some examples of really good custom battle systems in RPGM like Karryn's Prison, and I am moderately confident that with my potato brain I could pull something similar off, just because of how much simpler it is to modify an existing system than building stuff from scratch. Going through a mass of dialogue can be just as much of a slog in Ren'Py, skip button being no different than just holding Z.

The issue is a lot of people got burned by large empty worlds from 12yo devs who spit out a "game" a week and that's not at all what I want to do. I want to build a world that is alive and fun to go through. The demo I made was basically just me playing around with different mechanics but even there I paid attention to use the Variables and Switches system in a smart way, so making a save generator for putting a player at the end of intro with all the choices there would take me maybe 10 minutes for those who wish to skip content they've already seen, so I don't really see it as an issue.

You're the second person to call her chubby over more than a year so I don't really think a lot of people see it that way, I certainly don't but I'm revisiting the art style anyway soon so maybe minor adjustments to it will come as a result. As for the Asuna point, when I first made RtD on my glorious eastern European money I couldn't afford any commissions so I just used fanarts of Asuna and later when the game won a contest over on TFgames I used that money to get commission art for Tali, but I said something to the extent of "make her look similar I guess" and this was the result. I've got to say I don't really think they're that similar, the art style is completely different so I'm surprised so many people see it at a glance, but I guess that is something I have to look at as well.

I'm a huge fan of ttrpgs, so I loved the idea of RtD and while I am sad I wish you the best and hope you can enjoy what you create.
