Unity - Completed - Room Girl [R1.4] [Illusion]

Anything said in this review is just my personal subjective opinion. That being said the character creator is amazing. It does not have all the options compared to HS2 and AI Shoujo but it really feels like a step forward. The Graphics are really good (If you have a good pc) the only thing that bugs me a bit is the loading times (I got the game installed on an nvme ssd). The concept is flawed in its execution but ultimately it is a nice changeup compared to HS2 where its just coitus. I mean in this game its coitus with extra steps but atleast we got extra steps.

Positives:

• Graphics are good
• Characters in the game look really good
• Different concept compared to a lot of games
• Customization is good
• A lot of good Cards already existant

Neutrals:

• A lot of different positions (Same as honey select tho so if you are looking for new fresh animations after playing HS and AI Shoujo this aint new chief)

Negatives:

• Gameplay isnt really polished enough (Can be circumvented with trainer)
• Translation is good at some points, bad at some points and straight gibberish at some points
• Not a lot of Mods

Summary / TLDR:
At the end of the the most important thing is if the game ticks boxes that are important for you. For me the graphics, artstyle and customization weigh out a lot of negatives that the game has. But some people prioritize gameplay over looks and they hate this game. So download the game, make some characters, play and make your own opinion about the game.

I've been enjoying Room Girl as my first 'realistic' 3D Illusion game. However, from what I can tell, this game receives very little community and mod support compared to some of their other titles. I've played Koikatsu, so I was not very surprised to see that this was a copy of that gameplay formula. Running around and making idle chit-chat to improve your relationship with characters. You unlock different areas for Free-H mode by triggering H-scenes in those areas in story mode.

I really don't understand the point of the skill point system. It made little impact, so I didn't even bother interacting with the environment to improve stats.

Maybe I'm not that good at character creation, but I felt that the face customization was kind of limited. A lot of the characters have similar looking faces.

I recommend trying the optional 'PoVX' mod for a more immersive first-person perspective.

i only play this game 2h. no story, none of original and the bgm is boring, hurting for my ears. Ai shoujo and Koikatsu, KK sunshine at a least have a game play. And a real mape with action. I delete RG after the free sex mode. No threesome, poorly lesbian, pseudo gay (only hug?) that not my guts but shit! Creampie don't overflow, no belly expension and pregnacy.

This is going to sound biased, and really it is because I am an Illusion games veteran that has born witness to a slow decline in what was the single best porn game developer out of Japan for gameplay elements back in the 2010s.

Pros:

Best graphics of all of the more realistic art style Illusion games.

Great customization as refined throughout the Illusion Unity era.

The most gameplay since the Illusion Unity era began.

The switch from Mono to IL2CPP has made the issues that potentially came from using Mono in previous games a thing of the past.

Cons:

Gameplay is extremely barebones with much fewer options than the obvious inspiration. The reason is obvious and twofold (A) their customers have, as always, been pleased by a focus on customization on a level that does take away from gameplay development and (B) they never retain their developers long enough to really get into making games like they used to because of the cultural stigma of being associated wit porn in any capacity.

Stats mean nothing, you can literally get sex the second you have someone you can invite over to your place.

Animations are slow and lengthy for very little stat gain, exacerbating the meaninglessness of the stats.

Characters cannot have sex with anyone that is either not assigned to the same occupation group or is not a bad friend, even if you can make two people of different groups meet in the same place, no interaction options. The one exception is the doctor.

The switch to IL2CPP has made modding a nightmare and porting old mods basically impossible because older games used Mono. This means definite longer waiting for essential mods and potentially not seeing modding at the same level as previous games, including possibly never seeing some of the essentials at all.

Overall, this is their weakest game since Artificial Academy 2 out of the entire bunch, all of which were lesser quality in general, but not this bad.

Yes, it has no innovation.

But it's still a good H-game when it comes to H-games. And the graphics are great. (If poorly optimized.) Can't really call it just average then. If we went by Illusion games, then yeah sure. But considering the competition on this site, it's definitely four stars, unfortunately.

As an Illusion's games player, i must say i'm really disappointed now.
This is the WORST "Game" from Illusion.
Games are not all about graphics.

Pros:
- Graphics seems to be good.

Cons:
- The game do not have a Story mode.
- It is repetitive as a cacophony.
- The mechanics are simple but really slow to be completed. (The x3 do not fix this problem).
- The "registering" process is simple but is not well implemented. Characters may be available at day time and be completely missing at night time. EVEN the ones you create.
- Sex mechanics are to damn simple and easy, it becomes really boring after 2 or 3 runs.
- To get sex from the girls is really easy too.
- Very few personality signs into the characters.
- Very robotic world.

This is really disappointing for a game from Illusion. The company developed Artificial Girl 3.
One Star is too much for this ripoff.

Game itself is okay'ish. i give it 2 stars as i give it a few years to see how it will grow with mods or such.
As it is right now, it's a okay'ish-meh'ish game.
It have good thing, but nothing that pop out the curiosity or the pant's zipper.

It's a good idea at base tho. Maybe this will give ILLUSION a way to get something better in futur. The base is here.

But let's be honest. As it is for now, it doesn't really worth the time spend to download it or to install it.
It even more worth it to download the freaking 1To mod archive for Honey Select 2... Even if you know that something probably gonna bug and corrupt the game at one time so you will waste half a second to delete it from your pc in a few months/year.


It seems to me that ILLUSION is now more into creating Prototype, than actual game.

Well, it can be said that the developers had a good idea for the game this time, but it was poorly made. Of course, the biggest advantage of this game is its graphics, because the rest is rather poor.

The creators probably wanted to make this game something similar to the Sims and the idea itself was good, but the creators simplified it all too much, which makes the game boring. Throughout the game, we perform the same interactions over and over, regardless of who we play, and if we want to have sex with someone, we must at least be friends with him ..., I did not see the possibility of forcing someone or blackmailing them into having sex with us.

I would also prefer to get something like an open world (it doesn't have to be big) where I can move around freely. Unfortunately, this game offers us only small rooms, where there is actually nothing to do and they only serve as a background for boring interactions and sex. Creators should create an open world, where we have, for example, several districts such as: school, city (for dates), doctor's office, residential district with several houses to visit, etc. The world should be connected like in AG3, so someone could for example spot us as we are having sex with someone.

In my opinion, if the developers made this game similar to AG3, where we only control our character, and the rest of the NPCs live their own lives and make good or bad interactions with us or other NPCs, than it would be a much better game. To that open world developers should add some interaction like in Sims and we have a pretty good sanbox.

What I didn't like about this game is also that there is no meaning what character we play, everyone have the same interactions with each other what is boring and breaks immersion. I also think that there is to little characters of girls and too little personality traits. This game also lack relation between characters, so you can't make someone your mom, sister, childhood friend etc.

Generally creators should continue to follow a path they begin in this game, but as I wrote above, they should give us more freedom and possibilities in an open world where we control one specific character and the rest of the NPC would live their own lives and there should be more variety to characters and their relations.

At the moment I can only rate this game at 2/5, because overall developers are going in the right direction, but this time their game was done poorly.

Imagine you run a studio and have a budget to make a big adult game, imagine you have a meeting and someone says « we could make a sims like » and you proceed to show some amateur mod that was made a few years ago on sims4 called wickedwhims.

Now imagine what games you could come up with, you’ve got the resources, the engine, the assets.
Now the real work begins, you need gameplay developers and game designers, very important indeed. Maybe a few more animators ?

It’s all exciting, you have so many examples at hand of good management games, and you know that this could lead to an actual hit, sex games mixed with a simslike mechanic ? It’s gonna be good !

I'm not sure how to feel about this game.

Again, Illusion is coming out with a game that is based on HS2, again character creation and etc. are the same, again the sex scenes are the same. It's the same game repackaged for the 5th time. However they did admittedly nail down a really good formula. It just needs to be expanded upon, which Illusion is apparently incapable of doing.

From a gameplay standpoint, this game competes with LifePlay and NSFW modded Sims. As of right now, Room Girl is extremely basic compared to the other two. It revolves about controlling characters and getting them into various situations. But other than that, there isn't anything. The other two games have many more mechanics which make every character feel like a person with traits and preferences.

I think that this game needs time to age. Developers need to update, add more features, turn it into an actually in-depth simulator which can compete with the aforementioned games. At the same time, the community needs to mod the game, port all of the existing content made for HS2. But considering the game got such a bad reception, I doubt it is going to happen. We'll see. I suggest coming back to this game in 4-6 months and see how it evolved.

Best Illusion game ever! It is like kind of SIMS plus Illusion titles. Awesome. I wish there is more games like this. Slow and rewarding. You need to try for yourself. It is really worth it. Animations comes from previous titles but they are like upgraded to premium quality.

Ah another effort from illusion to bring sex and gameplay together. I played all games so far illusion company created. This wild "jack of all trades" sex game they want to create, it aint gonna happen. They are just pumping out these highly expensive studio, pose, scene creaters, which our western friends use to create cheap VNs

Like predecessors, game has nothing new.
Gameplay: Meaningless, it is just HoneySelect with extremely tedious extra steps. Character relations feels nothing and those coins you earn doesnt yield any meaningful reward, it is just plain stupid.

Sex: Same since Honey Select 1. Better play previous titles, which are more stable with mods and you can directly jump to sex scenes.

i gave it 3 stars, because there are horse sh*t games out here, worse than this garbage, with 4-5 stars with brain dead reviews

If you want game play, play any game they made before 2013

At this point, it should be clear to everyone that Illusion no longer make new games but rather just repackage their old games with slightly improved graphics. That said, the gameplay is decidedly different from previous iterations, but that's not necessarily a good thing...

Room Girl is a very light "life sim". You are in control of multiple characters and your job is to guide them through their daily lifes. You pick a character and get presented with multiple options: interacting with other characters, doing work, lazing around, etc. Each action will improve a characters stats as well as effect their mood. You can enter relationships with other characters through conversation, with a "pick the right topic" minigame to between different relationship stages.
There are occassional events with other characters, some triggered by actions, some seemingly random. Usually these will lead to dates or straight into sex.
There are two main ressources that limit your character's actions: Time and Stamina. The game is divided into a day-and-night cycle, with each phase lasting 3 in-game hours. Each action will forward time by 5 minutes, giving the game a somewhat "turn-based" feel. Most actions cost Stamina, which can be replenished slightly by sleeping/napping. Once out of Stamina, the character can no longer initiate actions but can still be interacted with.
There is also money in this game, but this is only to buy a range of different buffs to improve the effect of certain actions temporarily. There is no clothing shop, or toys to buy. There is also no Needs system like in The Sims, and no home decoration.
Gameplay has never been Illusion's strong point, and while it is admirable that they try their hands on something fresh, Room Girl is just boring. There is barely anything to, and what you can do doesn't seem to matter since you can just initiate sex with any rando you find after talking to them for a few minutes. Which brings us to the hentai part of the hentai game...

Sex scenes are the same as they have always been in Illusion games. If you have played one, you've played them all. You pick a position, then adjust the speed of the action with the mousewheel until you hit the right spot for the girl to feel good. There is no groping or touching, no switching between holes like in Koikatsu. Positions and actions during intercourse also seems to have no effect on a character's personality like they did in HoneySelect 2.
All animations are practically unchanged from HS2. 3P and Lesbian positions are extremely limited, and 3P is the maximum. No GB, no orgies, barely any BDSM. Sex in public has no consequences. Other characters will at most lookaway in embarrasment or not react at all.

In essence: The Life Sim gameplay is boring and pointless, and Intercourse gameplay is nonexistent and just an animation loader.

The only good thing to find here are the improved shaders. Characters look better than in the previous titles, altough still a far cry from what they could with current technology. Environments still look lifeless and empty in most cases.
Ironically, for a game that is trying to be a life sim, the only lesson Illusion seem to have taken from The Sims is the business model of selling you 500 pieces of DLC, only to hit the reset button with the next release and resell that same DLC again.

The Sim with S*x.
The game don't have much story, it's more like a scenarios, and you're the one who control those scenes, create relationships, make decision, so you could rate story 1/10.
Graphics: Good, some pre-order outfit look greats
Sound: great
I like it, hope there'll be more "action", right now I could only found few "special" places

Good visual, nice concept, but poor execution.
ILLUSION has all the building blocks in their past games, but somehow can't put it together.

The main game is in a very poor stage, and since it switch to IL2CPP. The future of the modding community doesn't look bright.
The correct way to play this game is to bear the bad game play to unlock all the sex scenes, or get yourself a Omake save data. Then you can play Free H mode as HS2 with better visual (in compare with vanilla game).

I don't think ILLUSION will try to fix the game play besides pushing out a few more outfits and the studio mode.

If the Modder can over come the technical barrier. Mods grow back to the level of HS2. Maybe the game can be a 4 star, and over take HS2 as a pure fap simulator. But as for now, it's a 2 star.

Oct 22, Update:
Since Bogus made the "Action Patches" mod. The game play has been vastly improved. This mod along adds one star, but the pace remains drably slow.
With all characters interaction unlocked. It may be more stars for whom can make story in their mind.

Really Good, Most of the people searching for OLD Illusion won't find it here!

No bug, just missing option or strange one... Still didn't have any issue after 18h playing so it's pretty great!
Playing it is easy, but it's one of the game you can't finish!

People discriminate it because they are frustrated to no found the AG3 or other good Illusion game like AA2, but if they want to play AA2 just go back to it! Illusion doesn't make the same game twice,they improve it and need to be in the norm when they are that big, so they adapt and it's a pretty good game!

Go for it blindly, don't expect anything see if you like or not!

Very hard to play/restrictive. And even more dull than the last 5 games.

Back in the good old days with AA2 you had an entire cast of characters that interacted with each other with an evolving friendship/love/hate system. They interacted with each other creating scenarios out of nowhere. Girls got jealous, fell in love and spread rumors affecting the relationship of the MC and other NPCs. Now those systems are a thing of the past and you are not even a character in the story, you move all the characters at once like an all mighty god with no real attachment to whats happening.

It has a lot of bloat and useless activities that serve no purpose other than tedious grinding of in game currency.

Graphics are beautiful but sex scenes feel empty because the whole game has no soul.

Maybe mods make it a better experience in the future and i'm sure the beautiful graphics will be used well on future renpy 3dcg games. If you have played any illusion game in the last 10 years this is the same but even less interactive and sadder.

The game is a tech demo with the newest things that technology has to offer.
And because of that making mods is annoying, translating is annoying, and making plugins is very hard.
For me, this game is just not fun.

I like the concept and the graphics seem better than HS2DX.

Currently the game isn't too thrilling to me (you create characters, put them into the world and then they live their lives which you can influence and push them into directions (such as talking to other characters and starting relationships and H-scenes).

Currently it's pretty bare bones. But I think once the mods are there, this may be a decent new illusion game.

Lacking and a bit clunky if it wasn't for the restrictive gameplay it may have been better. But the fact you can't interact with most locations and anyone outside of your occupation/location ruins it all. This means the office ladies cannot go to the casino and gamble outside of the slots and they cannot interact with any guys outside of the office guys. Also the game leans towards you being the female only. So if you prefer to play only as the female you'll find more joy in this game. If you prefer to play as the guy you'll find this game awful. If you enjoy both its OK. Honestly the game just lacks any substance. I mean its Illusion but they used to have things to do and content to play with. This game just lacks so much. Its not AI Girl, Artificial Academy, Sexy Beach, or Honey Select. Its Honey Select 2 assets with no real improvements and gameplay that's more shallow than Honey Select 2 which was just about building a harem with thirsty waifus. AI Girl had gameplay and a plot even if basic. This just has nothing in that regards. Its more boring and shallow than Honey Select where you just hump girls. In this you can only hump the girl(s) of the same building. I just can't believe Illusion sunk so low. But at least its not yet another r$pe game such as Playhome. You're better off playing Honey Select 2, AI Girl, Koikatsu, or Artificial Academy 2.
