VN - Ren'Py - Abandoned - Roommate From Hell [v0.55] [TiDeMooN]

Oh, boy, I'm really struggling here. Basically, the grade of 2.5 points on average seems just right. And that's only since the last update, before that... Oh, well.

But...
Let me try another way: do you also know those TV series that are actually nothing special in detail - and yet you are eagerly awaiting the next episodes? That's the way this game is! Crazy, isn't it?

Okay, I'll still try to give the game a mark:

The story: I like it (4/5)
Storytelling: it's ok (3/5)
Characters: not bad, MC and Daisy good (4/5)
Dialogues: sometimes not really good (2/5)
Graphics: mostly ok, but sometimes bad (2/3)
Girls: Daisy's hot, the others are fine (3/5)
Animations: surprisingly good (3/5)
Choices: only a few that have had no consequences in the game so far (2/5)
Content: for a 0.55 not really much (2/5)
Audio/Music: not implemented by the def (1/5)

That's 26 out of 50 points -> 2.6/5
Well, that's almost exactly the rating here.

But as I mentioned before, this game has something that I can't explain. Maybe it's because I'm more the story-based type of player and I like it simpler than having tons of choices. So there's an extra point, so it's 3.6/5. Well, and since there are only whole notes I have to round up: 4 points.

Conclusion:
Since the last update, the game is okay again. But don't expect a big game for God's sake, then you're completely wrong here! It's just a nice game for in-between times, which funny enough caused a kind of addiction in me.

Seems like 0.055. Premise is about all this has going for it.

Writing is bad. Plot is alright, characterization is thin. Sandbox attempt is unneeded and poorly realized and the literal Press Here To Continue Plot button made me laugh.

Art's alright. Not bad, but nothing stellar.

Porn content at this point seems to be some nudity and one wank. Nothing squicky though, so great.

TLDR: Stick to whatever story ideas started the project, don't cram miscellaneous game elements in because everybody and their dog has them.

The new freeroam system seems a bit, unnecessary. It's long, and drawn out, and consist of doing the same activities over and over again, while interestingly, there is absolutely nothing to do in the afternoon instead of nap. Perhaps this is feature that should've been released when it was a little more fleshed out.

Well this is a piece of crap.

This game started off great with an interesting concept but ends up like so many project a piece of shit. It gets an update roughly every 3 months and those updates are extremely small. So after a year the game has no real fap payoffs. I mean there is some but not worth supporting nor a download.

The game does the ever so common start as a VN then switch to open world with no content not even locations. You can't visit Ruby and yuki because "reasons," you can't interact with your roommate which it a title fucking character. Seriously why add open world when all your locations are pointless? you can't have a shower in the morning because again "reasons." You seem to only have classes in the morning because I guess reasons and the restaurant in the game is only open in the evening again for "reasons."

After doing 20% of update 0.5 content and literally taking a shower were NOTHING HAPPEN was worth 4%. I was like fuck this there is no content at all, I am out.

Do not download this game. There isn't any content there is little pay off for your efforts and the game hasn't progressed at all in a year. The story while not the greatest got dropped as of 0.5 with a shit open world click for no content grind.

Positive: Interesting concept. Lot of cute monster girls hiding in the human world. There is not much story progress yet, but I think it has a lot of story potential.
Main girl is cute.

Negative: Lot of the girls are variations of the same model. They look cute, but unless there is a reason for it in the story more variety would be preferred.
The updates are extremely short. Some tens of images with animation stages included. And even with that, the update intervals are quite long. If something does not change, the game will lose all support before the story could get anywhere.
The last update introduced "free roam". I'm not totally against free roam, but in this case it's only there to stretch out the otherwise abysmally short update. But as expected it only turns the game into the most repetitive boring grind I've seen in a game.
I hope there will be a positive change with the amount of content in future updates and also that updates become more regular resulting in lot of interesting story progress but at the moment even 3 stars is generous.

Ok so theres not ALOT of content yet but im already hooked. Im in love <3 Try it out its super cute and im really looking forward to more. And im already in love with the roomate Again im really looking forward to more

I'll start off with saying I gave RfH 4 stars mostly for the potential that it has. There really isn't anything too original yet as far as what I saw. There's been a few that you lived with another worldly being, there's been many you live in a dorm room. So like I said, not too original...yet.

Now, the renders are alright, the story though not unique is being well written. Now the potential comes from the fact that your roommate is a hell being, and you're on a college campus. Those 2 things alone gives the Dev a lot of room to expand on. Is there room for improvement? Sure. It's a young VN.

Would I say give this short VN a play through? Sure. It really is a fun VN with potential.
