Sandbox and the sense of *freedom*

Out of my mind I remember:
-A struggle with sin (albeit I think there is one or two characters that need it for the main storyline)
-Peasant's quest
(both of these are RPG maker but it's literally a sandbox in essence)
Then also Love & sex second base which is more visual novel sandbox style.
Overall it isn't impossible that you may need 1 or 2 characters out of a big cast to continue the main quest, but I would say that those games you are basically free to romance just the characters you want.
The reason many developers tend to force you to romance certain characters (in some all of them) is because when they do the harem scenes don't want to take into account if x character was romanced or not. It is especially common to have to romance everyone in games that have multiple chapters.
Also be aware just in case that the 3 games i gave while they have the NTR tag it is perfectly avoidable, peasant's quest I believe it had one character that was married, in a struggle with sin the game is very clear when there is anything to prevent and in the case of love & sex it's just one character I believe.
Personally I do not fear the tag but I say it just in case.
