VN - Ren'Py - Abandoned - Scars of Fate [v0.6.2] [Silent77]

I wish i did not waste my time on it.

1) Game has serious problems with dialogues, sometime it is unbearable.
Seems like it is not DEV's native language, but again, I played games where Dev is not english native, and yet those games have perfect dialogues.

2) Characters have serious problems with motivation, they just don't have a soul. Potential LIs fall in love with MC just because... because they fall in love. And MC, he is a pervert, what normal person in a moment of danger will have have creepy perverted thoughts. That sucks on every possible level.
I wouldn't say that all characters are bad written, they are just NPCs.

3) Next one, MC's GF gets raped right at the start of the game, and mother (whether she is potential LI or not) gets fingerfucked (willingly) by murderers of her son. Nice vibes from the start of a game.
Don't get me wrong, whether it is NTR or not, personally I hate this kind of a game. If you don't put the corresponding tag because of definition issues - then just write a small note in a damned description, so players who are not into this will go away.

So I actually don't get why I don't hate this one. It has all the things I generally don't like; Annoying "Borderlands psycho/Tiny Tina" dialog, characters that fall in love with MC after one sentence, snowballing story beats, and any time MC is in "danger" of having a serious conversation he drifts off to have horny thoughts. And don't get me wrong, it still has all those things, and I do hate them, but for some reason, I don't completely hate this VN. One thing I'm still not sure of though, is if the Dev speaks english or not. I can't tell if it's just bad grammar and simple spelling mistakes, or translation issues. Either way, a LOT of spelling and grammar issues, an editor is painfully needed. I also want to say when Ingrid kisses you the first day, it was a literal jump scare than scared the crap out of me and then made me laugh the second time. So... lol

Moving on, the story is not bad. Like I said it does snowball a lot and the three stories haven't re-intersected yet, but it's serviceable. (Even though one would have been rectified if someone just turned around..) I'm getting off topic. You follow MC, the apparently most attractive human that ever lived and is super charismatic even though every time he opens his mouth I kinda wanna hit him. The story starts in his hometown, the middle of nowhere. He lives a quiet life with his father (RIP) and mother. You get ONE DAY of peaceful nothings, MC gets the girl of his dreams, Ingrid, then the town is essentially destroyed. Dad dies, MC almost dies, love interest too, and mother gets captured. Although Dad "dies" off screen and I'm sure he'll pop up again later. Essentially your dad was a warrior of.... something?... And Lord Hellion wanted to kill him and bang your mom. ....We will talk about Lord Hellion later.

Back to the adventure, MC falls off a cliff and is taken prisoner. It's there he meets his soon-to-be crew of Miri, Sam, Jess, and Kiyoko. They are about to be sold but Kiyoko betrays the captors to help MC and the others escape because..... MC is attractive. This is the theme for this story, any time MC is in a bind everything works out based on the fact that someone in the room finds him attractive. I am so unbelievably tired of that trope. So, you all escape and kill the captor, Meat, and run to try to get back home. To summarize a few of the story beats without giving everything away: MC fights a crime boss's son, fends off space barbarians, attracts the emperor's daughter, captures a different crime boss, and says "I'm not gay" a lot. That's all very brief but I don't wanna rehash the whole plot, as I think this is worth the read.

Now the characters. Miri, the fiery younger sister of Ingrid. She's had a crush on MC forever, and the mouth of a sailor. I actually like her, even though she just disappears for large chunks of this story. Sam, I'm guessing, was a former spy that likes to watch MC be a pervert. Every conversation with him is annoying, and he talks in circles to keep up the facade of mystery about him. Jess is a braindead devout housewife that is just there for no reason. Kiyoko is the crafty girl from the wrong side of the tracks that MC has to melt her icy heart. Arana is just a girl that saw MC said "he's my boyfriend" and that's it. She loves him now, why? Dunno. Ingrid is presumed dead but in the 5 days since she was shot with an arrow, healed and became a super spy in all that time? Lastly, Viktoria, there is literally a scene where she gives birth to MC so when they finally get around to trying to slap that dumb incest tag on this I don't know how this will do on patreon. She was captured by Hellion and is sad a lot, understandably, but that's all she does.

On to the complaints. The snowballing. Everything so far takes place over at most two weeks. However, there was a point when I thought it had only been about 4 days but MC said that a couple weeks had passed. So even IF it's going slower, you the reader have no way to know how much time is passing. Even still, everyone's too quick to fall in love with MC, it's ridiculous. This also uses the default RenPy UI, although, Dev edited it so the dialog is halfway down the textbox? Change everything or nothing, man. Seriously. The renders are inconsistent as well. Like, Miri has black corneas during the whole "lettuce head" section and I don't get why. And there's not a lot of shadows so everything looks weird, and the animations aren't great. I'm not one to complain about that stuff usually but I noticed it a lot. And LORD HELLION I cannot take another one of his "LOLRANDOM" monologues, my god. I can't tell if we're supposed to think he's funny, or likable, or Dev did it on purpose so we hate him. I hope it's the latter but I also would love it if every single line of his was deleted from this VN.

I think this is worth a read. Partially because the plot isn't "MC returns home after [X] years due to [amnesia or dumb reason], suddenly finding his all female family attractive. He then woos them with the most banal dialog ever." But there feels like there are stakes at times, and Miri and Kiyoko are decently likable and different characters. The over abundance of humor is very bad, but it is a dumb porn game so what can I really say?

TLDR - Decent story, middle of the road dialog, okay characters, and a villain I actually want to die. Give it a read.

Bad story, bad dialogues and meh renders... Feels more like a chore than an actual game... The dialogues and English are bad... The characters seem dumb and the story has no direction... Would not recommend...

I actually really like this game a-lot. loving the plot, the jokes, and the sexual content. Looking forward to that family reunion but I understand letting the plot develop. Seriously under rated game, I can see dev may have been shoo'ed away from ntr content but personally i feel that would fit well into the storyline but I also guess it may not make sense given the circumstances of the mc.

One of the greatest SciFi adventure story in the VN.
Characters have good looking models and consistent and distinct personalities.
Renders are good, animations are one of the minus point and can be improved.

One thing that is little weird is that we can skip everything MC does but we can't do it on things we actually would like to skip a little.

Still the game is 10/10 and very underrated, the story is filled with so many enjoyable moments, mysteries and humour, that I can't wait for the next update.

5 star rating? c'mon bruh, really? Yeppers! allow me to explain..

When I started playing this, I thought it looked a bit basic and rough, the initial writing at the start didn't grab me or anything, so I thought it was going to be very mediocre.

Fast forward a few hours and I was hooked. I was invested in the story and wanted it to not end anytime soon. The girls, I was also invested in... from the sexually frustrated milf Jess to the sexy females you meet up with later on the spaceship, plus the cute Asian girl in your party, Miyoko (?)

I love how it feels like your character has choices, even if they are limited.
I initially tried playing a ruthless, cocky shit that killed at any chance..but then noticed the girls in my party didn't like MC using excessive force as they will let you know. I restarted and played as a cocky, limited violence, manwhore and boy was it fun! bedding every girl that was available - although Miyoko often knows you did it...

The characters all have their own personalities and feel quite realistic, like working your way into the religious MILF's panties is quite fun...she acts a prude but is gagging for the big D!
The feral looking girl, Miri is a royal pain in the ass with her shit talking at your MC. I would have shot and buried her in a shallow grave by now if it was me personally. Real pain in the ass.

I realise the dev is limited in art assets and maybe that's why the game has a weird mixture of fantasy and medieval costumes, I understand he's making the most of his limited pool. Still, it's a great sci-fi romp with hot girls and many humorous moments, surprisingly with an engrossing storyline.

I cannot wait for next update. Definitely worth playing this little gem.

I must say this is quite an interesting game.
We see people in space suites, space ship, laser guns and also see people in medieval armor, axe and that kind of stuff. It's hilariously bizarre.
Story is really intriguing.
Renders are decent enough.
Characters are well structured developed.
Dialogues are well structured and Humor is good addition too.
Overally a really good game.

Update after update and you don't see any upgrade on the quality of the game, the only thing you see is a downgrade in the characters personality isnted of liking more and more of the character's i end up disliking them even more.
Mom one of the most promising character's is already in the garbage bin and other's are following.
Started nice but then it just had been going downhill hard .
Really isn't worth to play .

I kind of like it. It's got some humor and weirdness to it that works. Some of the positioning is midtier but a few of the renders are unique. There's a lot of fet shaming around it but having seen the scene, it's placed well for what it does in the narrative (a villain that's really bad and does something bad? you don't say), so don't let a bunch of people who cry when they watch adult shows on HBO ruin your chance to give this a try. It's not the greatest game but it's okay to good, like 3.5, and I'll round up since it's an early attempt by the dev.

This game started with some promise. But has continued downhill with each update. The characters get more and more unlikable,and the internal logic the characters use to justify their decisions,is nonsensical at best. The renders have not improved as the story has continued,and none of your choices matter.

Give this one a pass.

I don't know how this one is rated so highly. It has a ridiculous storyline, bad animations, bad dialogue, it seems like they just threw together whatever models they could find and tried to quickly make a haphazard story out of it. Every character is dislikeable. Facial expressions are overexaggerated. I try to avoid giving bad reviews, but hopefully I'll save some people their time wasted on this one.

Again I got tricked by good reviews into downloading another subpar VN. There's some creativity here but not much. The writing feels very juvenile and the dialogue is downright boring. I can't imagine real people speaking like the characters do. Every character seems to speak and act like a horny 14 year old boy. Evil guys are too over-the-top evil and lack any kind of depth. Every character is like a caricature of some standard trope. There are a million story inconsistencies everywhere. The sex scenes make no sense at all from a story perspective. They have laser guns but fight with swords. What?

I recommend skipping this one.

Okay this game is hilarious, engrossing full of beautiful scenery & characters, there are some shockingly brutal deaths in this erotic visual novel, Characters that I can't wait to kill, the main bad guy in particular is actually well written & pure evil. I am genuinely surprised how good this game is. I actually think this is my first 5 Star review. But this game has more than earned it, I actually laughed out loud a few times there is a scene in Chapter 4 I won't ruin but it is painfully funny what happens to some poor newsreporter. If they keep the pace & the humour coming with future chapters than this could actually be one of the best games on the site

An entertaining adult VN, that has some flaws but seeing as it is the dev's first attempt at a game it's pretty decent.

The story and dialogue are entertaining and written fairly well with dialogue choices that have a slight change in scenes and story. The visuals are limited but adequate with a good character design for the main cast that is varied and distinct, but the set pieces and character posing/facial animation could be improved.

Overall a simple and rough visually but entertaining VN with its main attraction being its fun story which slightly deviates from the norm seen in typical VN's and interesting characters.

I have played dozens of beautiful games in the past, and i rarely bother to comment, much less review any game. Clearly, that ends now. This underrated gem of a game left me with such a positive impression, that i had no choice but to come out in the open, and announce my support for it.

Story:
The story is easily its one of its highlights. Its such a breath of fresh air and is beautifully paced to evoke just the right amount of emotion at the right time. All throughout this wonderful odyssey, i felt like a little kid pulling a magical thread off of an adventure that keeps unraveling ever so smoothly. The rich narrative is both believable and unpredictable - An almost perfect blend of emotion, hilarity and excitement, the story is everything one would expect from a true masterpiece in the making.

Characters:
The characters may seem generic at first, but I found myself invested in them more and more as i progressed deeper into the story. Each character gets their due screen presence. Even if they are out of screen, none of them feel really left out, as other equally unique and interesting characters come to fill in their void. The fact that I'm left with such strong emotions for and against some characters only goes to show how beautifully written they are.

Visuals:
The visuals are beautifully rendered. Certainly not on par with some other great games out there, but then again, the dev probably doesn't have the required assets, so its easy to overlook any minor grievances. That being said, i loved the variety of the facial expressions on some of the NPCs - It not only adds to the hilarity of the situations, but fleshes them out more as characters with awesome personalities. The same can be said about animations. They may be fewer compared to some other well received games out there, but they are surprisingly well done.

To summarize, this game truly deserves a lot of love, and support from all. Riding it off as just another game would be a mistake. If you haven't played it yet, well, you most definitely should!

Just Amazing.Story is what makes game really good. I relate to every character. There is one disturbing scene but it shows that dev isnt shy to doing things differently. Prologue is new too. Humour is also nicely done. Like the way how characters evolve.

I really enjoyed this game, the history is great the renders are good too, i really liked the mc the girls are great too and the Samuel guy is very funny and a little weird xD, i am really exciting for the next update. Great work dev!

This review is my personal opinion and it is based on 0.3 game version.
Renders in this game are its weak link...And renders here are decent enough..Everything else is fun to play, if you are into SF. Of course there is a few of top-notch games here, this one, though having a promise, is not there yet. There are flaws here and there, and sometimes dev's struggle to write his story emerges to the dialogues/text surface, yet everything that is normal and expected. This is learning process, and we all learn on our mistakes and try to improve. Though being 0.3 update only, there is a fair amount of content already, there are choices and branches, and you could feel immersion just enough to enjoy the ride/flight here. Five stars, looking forward to further updates.

Renders are semi-decent-ish, I guess, but everything else is low quality. Dialogue is very stilted and uninteresting, choices are extremely limited and have very little impact. Characters, in general, are rather bad and have very unattractive personalities.
