Scene That Go On and On

I really have to ask this question. Do people really enjoy scenes in games that go on and on?

I've never liked visual novels for this very reason. I've played games where scenes would go on for hours before giving you a single choice. This is especially annoying for me during sex scenes. You're having sex! Is it really necessary to have so much goddamn dialogue?!

I just had to rant about this after playing one certain game. Not going to mention the name but it was on RPGM and the scene just wouldn't end. I was literally falling asleep in my chair.

What are your thoughts on this?

as someone who pretty much only plays visual novels, I agree with you

Devs love to write out these verbose descriptions during sex scenes and im just thinking to myself how many ways can you try to describe this, I am sticking my cock in her fucking cunt, its not that unique that it needs four paragraphs describing it to me, the only time I tend to enjoy it is if there is dirty talk involved but most of the time its just some lame description of intercourse that I skim over

save the descriptions for the actual story bits and just show me the sex if you arent going to write dirty talk

I prefer descriptive sex scenes than "He stick his dick in me and came".

A little dirty talk won’t kill anyone, but some creators filling half of a sex scene with dialogue really gets on my nerves.

If you're talking about sex scenes, I agree that developers should be mindful not to drag them too much. If you're talking story scenes, it's the same rules that apply to any story: it should be interesting but as long as the dialogs are interesting, they are not too long.

And also bear this in mind: some people really hate minigames in AVNs, others despise combat and/or wasting time walking around an RPGM map and some, like the OP, hate dialogs. Remove all these elements and what are you left with? A gallery?

If there are actual meaningful descriptions or dialogue that's fine honestly. Not everyone's cup of tea but perhaps some people like the description of how her toes curl during orgasm or whatever.

But then there's the static CG games which don't use their verbosity to fill in the gaps between images and instead choose to flood you with page upon page of utterly inane drivel some of which doesn't even qualify as words. Had a few Japanese RPGM games where the "aaaahn!", "ueeeghuuu!" spam went on for too long even with turboskip held down.

I think people are misunderstanding what I'm talking about here so I'll give an example of an RPGM game that I played recently.

So you go from place to place and talk to people to unlock scenes in this game. Sometimes you get to make choices. That's all fine and good. However, one scene can last 15 minutes. Another can last well over an hour. And given this is RPGM, you can't save in the middle of a scene so you're stuck there until the scene ends.

There was something that really infuriated me about this game instead of just annoy. There was one scene where it took a really long build up to get to the sex stuff. Then the sex was incredibly long. By the end of it, I was like, "Finally! It's over!"

Then a whole new scene starts right after it without a break. Followed by another long ass sex scene! I was like, "Really?! Was that necessary to have two different scenes back to back like that?!"

I feel like there's a sweet spot when it comes to this. Like you shouldn't go over a certain amount of time before the player gets bored to death. Especially if you can't save and come back to it later.
