Not sure why the low scores on this pretty good side-scroller. This is easily a 4-start side-scroller game. I could understand if there were higher expectations, but a 1-2 star rating? Really, when I see tons of worse games with clunky controls in which the character can't even move properly?
Anyways, back to this game. I will list the cons that I could think of:
1) Game maybe a bit short with only 5 levels. Could have benefitted with some side-missions or more levels. However, I have seen shorter games or much boring ones.
2) Depending on what you expect in picture art or character art, etc. I think it is fine. But Thornsin and Holy Knight Ricca looks a lot better (as it should be as it is a much modern game than this). In terms of art, Thornsin and Holy Knight Ricca are probably still on the top of all the side-scroller games I tried. I have seen a lot of bad pixel or bad art, Scrider Asuka is a lot higher than those games
3) There would not be a detailed storyline or cutscenes, which would be appreciated, but this is a side-scroller game, do we actually need a detailed plot?? A plot is more necessary for H-RPG.
Positives:
1) Smooth game play, no stutter. Just use joytokey if there are any issues.
To be honest (and I am guilty of this in the past), before using joytokey, I gave up in trying a lot of games just because I cannot get the controls right..
2) Quick in -action H-Scene / Sprite,. You don't have to lose to start an H-Scene , which is a major plus.
3) Protagonist looks decent, body looks well proportioned. Do not have jugs 2 times her head which defy physics.
This game reminds me of Empress Hostage-H.
Scrider Asuka looks better, but definitely much shorter and loses out in content or difficulty when compared to Empress Hostage-H.
Only gripe is if this game had double the levels or double the content. Story or plot would fit better as well.
Is it the best looking game? No. But better than a lot of bad looking side-scroller games that failed miserably. (I have recently gone through all the side-scroller games available on this site, tried some, abandoned some)
A short side-scroller game that could have been better but definitely a welcome change and a hidden gem.
