Is it possible to search for only newly created posts in the "latest updates" section? Limiting time frame will still show old games that only got an update. I managed to look up new posts for specific tags (by clicking the tag it sorts by post creation time), but I can't figure out how to do that for general new posts. Also, the Last update style (picture+raiting+tag list) is a great way to look at if I'm going to enjoy the game, but the tag search only shows forum posts without pictures (not like in the last update page).

for sure-fire sorting by date you should click search bar at the top, click advanced..., select search threads tab, fill in any details/filters you want (ctrl+click on prefixes to select multiple), restrict it to games, comics, etc. forums, order by date, display results as threads.
if you want to stay at the latest updates page, my guess would be to sort by either views or likes, and set the date limit to like a week or less. the first results will be recently updated old games (with many likes and views), and browsing from the end will be mostly new threads (with few views/likes), with a few obscure/unpopular games that got updated recently mixed in.
