Runs awful on a high end setup, also movement moves the camera even though the mouse already does so it's very disorienting just trying to leave the bedroom at the start

If you cannot even prevent the character's feet to sink in the floor when the collision is as simple as a box collider, I would suggest you to remake the game in Ren'Py and learn the basics of Unity in the meantime.

There is no reason why the same concept would not work better in Ren'Py anyways.
