- Artwork
Currently (IMO), the artwork is what this has going for it. This is what would've given it a 4/5 if not for some other gripes. - Writing
Nothing special, but not bad either (at 0.1.0 things are early, though). - Gameplay
This is the main reason why I gave it a 3/5. Immediately, you'll notice that the game has weird mandatory timings for dialogue/messages that appear. A 3-5 word sentence is sometimes forced to not be advanceable for an annoyingly long period of time. Even with the text on the fastest speed and autoplay turned to the minimum, either the engine or the way it's coded makes gameplay extremely slow. (BTW, there is the option to set autoplay timing, but no way to initiate autoplay.)
The gameplay follows the typical loop for most ero "open world" games:- Wake up
- Shower
- Go to class
- Go to work
- Do one other thing
- Go to bed
- Rinse and repeat.
- I couldn't spend any more time on it past day 12 or so, solely due to the painfully slow gameplay because of slow text. Paired with the gameplay loop, it felt like I was re-reading the same repetitive dialogue over and over, only in the hopes that maybe every 5 minutes, I might get a new scene with one or two new pictures and new dialogue.
- Repetitiveness
If the same thing happens every morning (i.e., wake up and take a shower—every other option produces nothing), why not make that happen automatically? Again, right after that, the only thing that progresses time is going to class. Why open the world so that you can waste time going to plenty of blank areas with zero options and no content?- Maybe those open-world options may have some content at some point, but all they do as of now is leave a negative impression.
- It could be a simple automation of removing choices from things until a user's choice makes a difference in any way.
- Final Thoughts
I'll revisit the game in future versions and may adjust my rating, but as of the current v0.1.0 version, things feel like I was forced to spend 40 minutes of time to see 5 minutes of content.
If I was simply able to see the 5 minutes' worth of content in 5 minutes, I would've easily given 4/5 stars. I understand it's early in development, but the mandatory text timings solely gave the impression that the game wasn't respectful of my time.
