No point discussing or suporting such games, although the story is good. If the dev wants to sell than put more effort to it as the story is excellet for a start ... unless its a part time hobby thats going to take another 9 years to reach V1.00.

Hmm there is negativity here lately... Thing i kinda get is that the wait is long (for myself not much only found it last month) what i don't really get is the stop supporting comments and the Greed part seriously 190 per month and people here think that you can work full time?About next update and then the steam release is something where if i would suspect pump and dumb(which i don't) it would be after that so atleast that will be done and what i suspect more is that Garou24 will if it's sucsessfull buy better or more hardware to speed it up more.

Lmao we know he’s not swimming in cash like some other devs on here. The point is; it’s been almost 2 years since the demo was released and there’s not much to entice the audience. The updates are incremental at best and the dev is always giving us renders that no one asks for because they’re not relevant to the game and just serve as, “here’s something to keep you quiet.” It’d be different if he was actually releasing parts of the game and letting it go early access, because you know, that actually makes money. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m pretty sure Garou24 said it was supposed to be released back in mid-2024 too, and there’s not even additional content to keep people interested in the meantime.

Shards of the Past 0.4.0 - Dev Update #77

vor 5 Tagen

View attachment dev_update_4_77.webp

I have started work on the scene where your character and Qinara are looking for a way into Castle Helmsworth. This time it is with Branson instead of Damerek so there are some changes on this path since things will play out a little differently. Night time scenes can be tough since I have to try and balance making it look dark enough but also allowing it to have enough light so you can actually see. I am using the same environment files that I did with Damerek's version so hopefully the lighting for both scenes matches. It should make it easier to pose since I have worked out a lot of the lighting issues the first time I did the scene for Damerek's path.

If they want to support it, go ahead. I'm not interested.
One year is too long.
But if someone wants to do it, it's their money.

Shards of the Past 0.4.0 - Dev Update #78

7. November

This past week was a very busy one, but also a very productive one. I finished all the images and coding for the scene where you, Qinara and Branson will find and enter Castle Helmsworth. I am now starting work on posing and rendering all of the scenes with Branson inside Castle Helmsworth. This is another area where having already created the full environments and done numerous renders for Damerek's path will help. I need to create new images for the Branson path, but having scene files already made up is a big help. I can import Branson's character and make changes quickly and then render out the new version.
The Branson castle scenes play out a little differently versus having Damerek there. I tried to balance things to make them feel different enough, but also to not have to rewrite an entirely different story. I can get a little overboard with branching so sometimes I have to try and pull myself back in.

I got a ton of rendering done this week mainly to due to using time off from my regular job. I am also taking next week off as well from work. My daughter is having surgery so I wanted to be at her appointments this week and be close to help her in her recovery next week. With some extra time I hope to be able to get in more development on the story and rendering like I did this week. I will have to see how things play out since it might be a little crazy.
That is all I have for this update. I wanted to thank everyone for your support and I hope you all have a great weekend!

Abandoned??? WTF - F95 are you scary?

We publish updates on the programming progress every week. An early release of an unfinished path would ruin the story, so it's not that simple.
Girl, I get you mean, but that doesn’t matter when there’s been no public updates in almost 2 years. Tons of devs on here deliberately release their games incrementally because they want to gather larger player bases and cultivate an audience for future releases and potential paid subscribers. Y’all ain’t doing that and people aren’t going to keep waiting for a game that may or may not be good given today’s gaming climate. I’m not telling y’all to release something now, but F95 probably saw no updates in 8 months and assumed y’all abandoned the game

It comes down to whether Rule #3.2 has been triggered. I have not been paying attention enough to know what may have qualified for the tag, but that's what the staff typically go by. There have been rare exceptions, but those practically never happen. Now it will remain labeled Abandoned until another release actually takes place.

As the the rule says (I highlighted the relevant bit), this thread should have been marked abandoned about a month ago (given it's been technically 19 months since this game's last update came out.

It's just that the mods somehow missed this one and noticed it late.

To add further, it's a clause within the rule that I assume was intended to circumvent devs who abuse the loophole of releasing dev logs to avoid losing potential subscriptions. Additionally, if a single update takes 1.5+ years to release then it's a signal to either:
  1. Dial back the scope of the game
  2. Hire additional staff; or purchase/commission additional assets/scenes
  3. Market the game elsewhere (i.e. GSL, VNDB, etc.)

The issue with most Ren'Py projects when implementing branching paths is the underestimation of how long it takes to render scenes for those paths, and the lack of dedicated tools specific to dynamic storytelling. Detroit: Become Human works as well as it does specifically because it was built with a player driven narrative in mind (and ~180 employees working on the game).

Yeah, makes sense. Like I said, I've not really been paying attention. It definitely should be marked, given what you highlighted.

There's a reason why F95 has the ">18 months without an update" rule...

Until you provide proof of your progress (a playable release), we can just as well assume that you are AI generating these "previews" and dev logs to maintain that Patreon income.

Sounds ridiculous, I know, but it doesn't make it untrue.

I am traveling out of town for this Thanksgiving holiday, like I am sure many of you are also, to spend time with family. I managed to put together a few images of the stars of this upcoming release as they hang out in the kitchen getting ready for the big meal.

From our kitchen to yours, wishing everyone a happy Thanksgiving for those that celebrate it.
