Ok I'm making this review after having read AV Sister Hanako and Miki already.
This one is the only one of the AV series who have a sequel later so how does the first game alone look like to me?
I will bring up the other two games a lot since they are the perfect meter of comparison
Let's go bit by bit as usual (spoiler warning of said 3 games)
• After reading Hanako I was questioning myself if Yuuki Rin can compete with her and honestly ... it does
And when it comes to Miki unfortunately unless Yuuki Rin 2 flops in a out of the blue unexpected way, Miki is the worst game of the 4
• The strongest point of this game is that it develops the bond / tells the tale of the 2 main characters better than the other AV titles (and maybe better than all the AS games in general)
But that comes with some downsides;
If the relationships of the main duo is told beautifully, the plot in general, the "everything else" is sorta neglected, in fact is a good thing that this one does have a sequel to address those points ...
Rin wins in bond development, Hanako wins in plot
• CGs are better than Hanako, in fact I was in awe with the quality here.
It's been a while since I talked about budget but of the 3 games I do feel like Rin has got the highest production budget
• Unfortunately even with better CGs I gotta give the W to Hanako when it comes to sex scenes, why?
Well in Hanako her usual partner for the AVs is Kaneda, someone who is an established character and who we personally know of due to his importance to the plot.
In here Rin partners are nameless and spriteless npc! This being the case it really brings down the enjoyment of said sex scenes despite the top of best CGs out here imo
• Like Miki it has a FeMC POV but at least it is better than Miki.
Except for the femdom scene, all the scenes they do have something extra not present during MC POV and are correctly told throughout her POV so they are somehow "worth" watching ....
However I really uphold what Hanako did, for this type of story you really don't need and shouldn't have a FeMC POV ...
• The (true) ending* is sorta like the Miki one that we had but better.
So a win here
And around the same vibes as the Hanako.
So a tie here
*Which by the way to get the flag to access the true end you gotta answer correctly to the "quiz" series of questions, reminder since many had this issue ...
• Rin wins design wise**
Hanako wins in being a better written character
**although gotta say her normal clothes (that sailor outfit) kinda sucks to me.
Couldn't have your heroine wear something better?
Yup in conclusion the greatest strengh of this game is also in part his greatest weakness.
In this game Rin is the only one who has a sprite.
The complete focus of this game towards the siblings is great on one hand but on the other hand it sucks since the brother, the guy who gets all the focus only gets ONE sex scene with his sister!
