Ren'Py - Shoretown Saga [v0.54] [Dan1228]

It is a good sandbox game with unique characters but needs some improvements and polish but i didn't encounter any game breaking stuff or anything that would make me quit before i finished the current content (v0.54 at the time of this review).

I didn't find it that grindy because doing an event like 3-5 times is totally ok for it to be completed in my opinion and you already gain points with characters from most normal interactions to pass the required love/like points anyways.

I am giving it 5 stars because it does have the potential to be

Great concept but with big issues easily fixable

STRENGHT:
Great story, good models even if little old textures. Great progression and grinding system. The grinding is very well designed, the only flow is the lack of efficient Walktrough where we can look blindely and repeat useless grinding.
The WT mod is mandatory. Maybe to integrate by the Dev ?

PROBLEMS:
The lewd scenes is a big week point ! The hardest part is the graphics, and there are great! The issue is thetext and programation. "Click to next segment" or "Repeat" kill the immersion. Better to simply give the choices. The repetable frames seems odd as well compare to other games.

With a better scripted choices in lewd scenes and a WT limiting grinding, this game could rise to the top of the industry!

Nothing more, almost unplayable, redundant scenes and health and cleanliness management that serve no purpose in the course of the game, functions that would be good to remove, it would also be interesting to be able to remove the mini-game scenes which are also useless and do not bring much interest, for the rest as said above a banal game without more.

Story is ok, models are ok, two cadre animations forward backward and are too prolonged without being able of skipping it.
Gameplay is a complete grindfest at this point. I really tried, but i just can't! Never seen anything like that, it's unbelievable!

Like many other titles, this is a game with potential, but sadly without any notable progress.
If I'm not mistaken, this game was released in 2022... to date, it hasn't featured a single interesting scene with the main characters.
The art, of course, is pretty decent, but it's overshadowed by the story's progress.

Zzz . The grind is horrible . Even with cheats you still have to grind. Takes too much time and effort with no reward. what a disappointment when the game looked almost playable . better off walking then buying and driving a car . Can't just go to map have to click several time to get to street map. Then 2 click to get to care . Just too much pointless clicking.

A positive review to motivate the creator.
First of all, I played the game with MultiMod and turned off the corresponding survival functions.

But that's not a negative point; on the contrary, the idea of turning the porn game into a real game with food, fatigue, etc., like in the Sims game, should be rewarded, not punished.

Yes, I admit, my patience would be too low for that, but the good thing is there's a mod for it, and as I've seen, a system that will be added soon that can have the same effect.

Yes, sandboxes unfortunately also have the weakness of repeating things too often, but you're also rewarded with new scenes.
It's also stupid to constantly cite this type of game as a point of criticism; just play a visual novel.

I have to say the start was a bit slow, but once you unlock the beach in the Evelynn part and the water and cliff-diving scenes are wholesome as fuck.

The neighboring MILFs can be fucked in the classic way, one after the other.

Positive:
-Sims mechanics
-The character designs stand out, especially Evelynn and Emma. They don't look like absolute top models and aren't the thousandth copy of the same 3D models.
-The front-facing scenes with the boyfriend or son are, of course, stupid as fuck, but super hot.

I love that shit.
-The playtime is decent.
-There are enough characters for every taste.
-Small ideas like the minigame with the sister and the webcam are creative and welcome.

Negative:
-The game isn't finished yet, so there are minor bugs, but nothing earth-shattering.

It's a first game, and a damn good one at that.

The work that went into it is remarkable.

Take your time to finish the thing and don't let it get you down.

I don't understand the negative voting. To my eyes it's a funny and sexy game. It's a classic corruption game, so you need to be patient, but the bigger the fun when you finally made it to fuck the girls.

Cons for me:
Navigation could be smoother
Money-system and survival mechanism are difficult and exhausting. It's easy to cheat, but why? This is the reason i am not giving 5 Stars

Shoretown Saga – A Clapped Mess in Visual Novel Form

If you’re looking for a polished visual novel experience, Shoretown Saga v0.51 is not it. This build is bad—plain and simple. From the moment you boot it up, you're greeted with a laggy UI that feels like it’s actively fighting you. The skip button, which should be a basic feature in any Ren’Py game, doesn't even work properly. So if you’re trying to get through the endless walls of mid-tier dialogue? Good luck—you’ll be clicking manually through every drawn-out, painfully awkward line.


The visuals are firmly in L territory. Sprites look rough, backgrounds lack detail, and overall presentation feels amateurish. Characters are clapped—not just visually, but in writing too. They're shallow, cliché, and often so cringeworthy you’ll find yourself skipping scenes (if only the skip button worked). There's zero chemistry, no tension, and definitely nothing that’s going to get you a hard on—so if you came for spice, keep walking.


To top it off, the town-building aspect is basically decorative and bugs still plague the experience. Looping dialogues, freezes, and a general sense of “early alpha” polish make it hard to take seriously.


Bottom line: Shoretown Saga is more chore than charm. Avoid unless you’re into disappointment.

I don't know if I'm the only one who can't play this game, but after a couple of hours of playing I've made almost no progress whatsoever.

The problem is not that it's a sandbox, but a game could only be designed so badly, you know there are games where you repeat something hundreds of times and get something, this is even worse than those, at least in those games you can get something at the end, but this one doesn't have that either.

I downloaded it with great expectations, different and good models that you can't see in other games, sandbox and structure that I liked, but it was just a waste of my time.

I gave this one an earnest try. Strait away I hated the dialogue and the MC looked like a mutant. His buddy looked even worse. From the start I was at a loss for what I was supposed to do to progress. There is no real quest log (the one that pops up when the phone finally appears is not much help). I wasted a lot of time randomly traveling to locations and clicking about for something to happen. The main LI's are not attractive. The mom is OK her face looks age appropriate but still not appealing to my tastes. I finally gave up when I got stuck in a loop attempting help the mom do the laundry on the weekend. I was supposed to retrieve the MC's dirty laundry from his room and bring it to the mom in the laundry room. I was able to retrieve the laundry alright, but when I returned there was no way to drop it off for the mom in the laundry room and the game would not allow me to abandon that task and do another. After wasting several hours on this one it went straight to my recycle bin. I do not recommend. Don't waste your bytes downloading this or playing it for that matter.
**Edit** I have, since my 1 star review, been working with the developer Dan1228 to playtest his game, offer suggestions, and workout existing issues. I have found him to be willing to work with his player base on F95, so + two stars for a total of three. Hopefully the game will improve over its current state.

Jesus! Been Grinding for days and the only action I have seen at all has been from a hooker I had to pay for and from a stranger that sucked me off in the bar and then disappears from the game. No matter how much work you put out with the "LI's" in this grind fest you never get any damn where. Try to move forward and its game over. Tried working in the bar but that just ended up resulting in me getting a failing grade because apparently the fucking Dev has no clue what a damn alarm clock is and you sleep until 9 am every day which just so happens to be the start time for class. Not at your desk at 9 am? Door locked until 1 pm. Class missed. Also on Monday that results in a failed test just so know. So many events. So many events scheduled for the exact same days at the exact same time. Hints tell you of events just not whe those events take fucking place or even where in some cases. Sandbox games suck to begin with but pulling this type shit just makes people hate them even worse. A no pussy fucking weak dick tease game is by no means fun at all. Had enough of the Dev's BS. I quit! Highly doubt I will return either.

It's a very good game, the story is great and the graphics are realistic and Evelyne's mom is delicious. Thank you dan1228 for your efforts and for the game maestro. I have become a fan of Evelyne and her friends. I will learn to do yoga for Evelyne to put the baguette in her cake

finally a game, not a VN, the downside is a very long progression, but it's worth it, original models + "point and click" because stupid porn with the same models is boring, this is really great job.

Still a work in progress, but it already has a lot of good going for it.

Pros:
- Models look hot. Especially the mother.
- Can use cheats to avoid the survival mechanics.
- Progression feels good, with new scenes building on previous tension.
- The scenes are well done.

Cons:
- Even if you ignore the survival mechanics, it's crazy grindy. If you play with survival mechanics on it gets even worse. This needs to get rebalanced.
- Buggy, release needed an additional bugfix because the "quest log" showed objectives that couldn't be done, or wasn't showing some that needed to be done.
- No skipping?? I had the "Skip all" thing selected and I still couldn't skip. Almost felt like I was getting carpal tunnel clicking through repeating scenes.

Overall, it's a great experience and I really hope that it gets the attention it deserves by the dev, some gameplay and also programming related details (such as skipping text/scenes, etc) should be improved for QoL, but content itself has been "enjoyable" and deserves a 4/5 for now. If it gets abandoned then it'd fall down to 3/5, but it still has a lot to enjoy, just it would need a lot more love for it to feel complete.

This has the makings of a great game, but the UI is god awful. None of the locations have hover labels, so you're just clicking around endlessly to figure it out yourself.

And the navigation is so tedious. You have to click every step of the way for every little motion. From the kitchen you click the arrow to turn around. Then click the arrow to go to the hallway. Then click the arrow to enter the door. Then click the 8 arrows back to get to the street so you can access to the map. Just give me navigation buttons where I can pick the room I want, and make the map button visible everywhere.

Then walking takes massive amounts of energy, or take the bus for all your money. You get $20 for working, and it's $16 to take the bus there and back...

I had to stop playing solely for the fact that 2/3 of the game time you spend clicking arrows to get anywhere.

Underneath it all, there is a good game here. The scenes are hot and the story is decent, if nothing special. This game also does gradual escalation very well and builds tension over time.

However, this game is a UI nightmare. Doing almost anything in this game is horrifically tedious, and the dev has manually disabled skipping. The result is that you're clicking literally hundreds of times to get a single event. Many of the actual porn scenes themselves require you to click through 10 cycles of animations, for each of up to 10 or more scenes, which is horrific.

If you can tough out the UI, you can possibly have a good time. But I think here the juice is not really worth the squeeze.

Shoretown Saga [v0.5]

Story/plot—The Story and plot are not original. It's an average story with elements of the basic tags.
Many grammatical errors (Engrish), misspellings, and poor syntax exist. (Not even simple things like) ( i'm, i'll, i've ) are capitalized.
Graphics - Are adequate, no obvious flaws.
Gameplay - It's Renpy, so it plays fine. GUI, saves, and loads are good.
The grind is the biggest flaw, IMO. Disabled skip is another. No gallery is another. No Android port.
The lack of common features that most other games have tells me the dev likes to control everything, which is not good in my book.
I don't recommend this game.
