If you don't trust your ISP or if you are afraid that any posts made here may at some point bite you in the ass, then do use a VPN.

depends where you live, its fine if you live in a pond or fish tank but oceans would be no no as connection is already very weak there and VPNs would drastically drop the connection strength

Besides of local law, question is: are You affraid of spying by Your internet provider? If no, then don't be affraid. Besides, technically You are not downloading from this site exactly, but from mega, nopy, filesupload etc, so it's just safe as usuall.
