Should I use AI instead of koikatsu for my anime style game?

Hi, I want to make anime-style games. And at the time, about two years ago or so, AI was in its infancy, so I didn't see any AI that could produce good images and sustain them. That's why I decided to use Koikatsu.

But recently I've seen images, or even animations made with AI, and I think we're really close to what I want. For example, I saw this one piece game: https://f95zone.to/threads/lusty-buccaneers-v0-31-nika.206241/ And the characters look very similar to anime, with animations that are also hotter and sexier than Koikatsu's renderings. Do you agree? Is it time to learn how to use AI for my anime-style games? Or is there any con or disadvantage that I don't know about?

I think whether or not you end up using AI over the other thing, it's not a bad thing to learn how to use AI in general. It may become groundbreaking for you personally or you'll starting seeing the boundaries of its limitations as you use it. Either way, I think you'll be able to gain insight from it and be able to leverage in a way you didn't think of before knowing how to use it.

But on a side note, I hate when people porn games of anime. Just ruins my memories of it, man...

That's really what you consider sexy animation? There's gotta be a better example somewhere.
I mean, at least the IA one has better genitals and 2d feeling in general. Now I need to investigate its limitations, since Koikatsu is in 3D, which makes it much easier to control the scene and charas. exa.png

Don't be like everyone else use AI, Tired of seeing people using Koikatsu/VAM/DAZ Studio/MMD so on for their Hgames

Well, in KK using the BP plugin you get to chose what dat pussy looks like. (You're looking for SAC Innie to mimic the left)

But I was talking about the animation quality of the game you linked. It's not exactly what I'd call bad, but it's hardly anything to write home about.

If you know how to use it, AI will of course look better than Koikatsu. I'm not an anime expert, but the example you showed seems to resemble an older anime style. If your goal is to achieve that look, AI would be the better choice. There's also the issue of selling: if you plan to sell your game, you can't sell a game made with Koikatsu on Steam or the Epic Store. I don't know whether the same restriction applies to games made with AI.

Why not both? :WeSmart:
There are AIs that copy the koikatsu style.

Bro, like many here, I've seen it on a lot of sites: AI still has a lot of gray areas among players. But what I recommend to you is to do something you enjoy.

In the end, after a long time working on it, what will keep you on the project is feeling good and happy with what you're creating. I know that seeking approval from others is important, but overall, it's more important that you like what you do.

And how does Steam know that it's made with Koikatsu and not some other 3D modeling program?

The AI bubble is at the "okay guys we admit it's a bubble but it's definitely not gonna pop right now" level, and a lot of the tools are run at a loss to increase users on a massive scale. If I had to guess in a few months time a lot of the cheap and free tools that run online will either vanish or run up their prices to unsustainable levels. There are models you can run locally if you have a beefy setup (ironically pretty much exactly the same stuff you'd need for good Daz renders) but they aren't as good and you would need to clean up the results significantly. You will have much more fine control of Koikatsu, and you would at least be learning how to pose models and compose images, if you go that route.
