VN - Ren'Py - Sinful Delicacies [Ep.18] [Temptress Games]

Review for Sinful Delicacies Ep.17:

Models: Good. Female characters range from average to excellent.
Renders: Average. The render quality is grainy most of the time--like renders from VNs released in 2017 or so. Renders improve in later updates, but not as much as they should.
Animations: Poor. Just 2-frame animations and they suck.
Story: Below Average. The story is shallow and also all over the place, it's also inconsistent and cringeworthy (e.g., how the MC can act like an action hero in one scene and trip over his own shadow in another). It's like the author tried to throw in all of the ideas he got from watching crime/spy/action movies, but didn't succeed at making any of them entertaining. The story just feels like it was written by an adolescent. For most players, the "skip unseen text" option will be their friend.
Writing: Average. Many spelling and grammar mistakes with the translation. Typical for adult VNs written by non-native English speakers.
Gameplay: Poor, by its own definition. The game tutorial says "This game adapts to the choices you make" but it doesn't. Choices don't matter. Proof is that when players start a Episode 13 which is a separate game download, the new game doesn't transfer any information from Episodes 1-12; therefore, it ignores every choice the player made in Episodes 1-12. Also, there are dozens of bugs with dialogue attributes (i.e., who says what is frequently wrong) making it sometimes difficult to "play".
Sex scenes: Average to Poor. Good visuals, but cringy and stupid dialogue. The developer has a poor understanding of erotica. Again, seems like it was written by an adolescent.

Other: Everybody loves Mrs. Reigns and she's obviously the "money-maker" of the game. The relationship with Mrs. Reigns is a slow burn to milk that money as long as possible and I don't have a problem with that. However, shortly after the MC can have sex with her, something changes in the story and players are back to square one. [Edit: the MC finally has sex with Mrs. Reigns again in Ep 16.] Updates have a decent amount of content but the developer's release cadence is so slow and his communications are so poor that the game gets the [abandoned] tag between every release. That's a good indication to players that developer isn't listening or responding to player feedback and players shouldn't expect the game to improve.

Overall, the game just isn't great at anything.

MC is a doofus, the girls are hot though, but as others have said, some of the decisions he makes are dumb af, and it's one massive cocktease with your mom... idk... the plot at least has some variety and adventure and there is at least an antagonist and MC has problems.

Will stick around to see if MC ever actually fucks the mom and what kind of effects and/or consequences ((if any) that has.

EDIT - Ok so but that still doesn't change my star rating. However the sex scenes are pretty good and hot, I would therefore call this the McDonalds of Adult VNs - you know what you're getting and if you just skip through most of the dialogue then it's alright.

great renders, 5 star for that portion of the vn, only to be backed up by some of the dumbest writing i've come across, let me correct that the writing for the non sexual parts of the story are ok, not great but worth the read, it's the sexual parts that are written in pure stupidity that throws the whole thing off. It's so bad I just have to stop and take a break out of frustration, but I've read it this far i will come back to finish the story and for the renders and non sexual parts, to see how things play out with ella and dad.

Review up to Episode 13:

There are several reasons that make Sinful Delicacies a decent game, but not a great game. First one is gameplay. There is nothing to do as a player in any of the Episodes, besides clicking to advance the dialogues. No minigames, no choices to make, no puzzles, nothing. And this makes me feel like it's something external to me, that it's not "my story", like it happens when you watch a movie. This could be no problem in itself if it wasn't for the fact that the story is very hard to believe. Of course, suspenssion of disbelief varies from player to player, but in this case the MC makes no real sense: goes from randomly being a bad ass, to being shy and coy, to being cunning and manipulative, to not knowing how to do things, to doing highly complicated heists and stuff... with no real explanation of how he learned to do those things or why his personality is not consistent. The support cast works better, as the girls and other characters are fairly archetypical so they are somewhat believable as they more or less remain inside those archetypes (maybe with the exception of Candice, her whole plot makes no sense).

The other side that's on a lower level, besides gameplay and story, is the art. Renders are pretty nice, that's for sure, but not the highest quality around. And the game has no animations, which means that most of the action is either conveyed by alternating two images (jumping from one to the other to make it look like an animation) or by descriptions. And those descriptions are pretty repetitive, to be honest, but I don't hold it against the game as I understand the developers are not english-speaking natives, so it is to be expected.

All in all, Sinful Delicacies is half-decent entertainment, and has enough value in renders and so on to make it worth the play if you want a quick fap, but the deficits in all those aspects (together with other minor ones, like there not being a gallery to review scenes, or the repetition of tropes) make it fall to an insufficient level IMO. 4/10

Sinful Delicacies is pretty much the opposite of what you get from this game, it should be renamed to moderate crumbs.

Calling this a slow burn is an understatement, this is more of a chore than anything.
But to be respectful of the creator and to see if I had something wrong about the game; I had slogged through the most mind numbingly boring content .

Pros:

• Art is pretty good, not amazing but decent
• Character designs are also middle of the pack

Cons:

• Story is pretty much nonsensical
• MC is a loser in every way of the word
• Labelled as a VN when after a few chapters there isn't really any choice to make, so its basically Kinetic

Is it worth playing?
If you enjoy non sensical stories, creepy sexual assaulter mc's, or are so depraved that you will jerk it to just about anything.
This might be for you.

Mrs. Reigns is 10/10. Almost all models are top class. This is only keeping this game interesting. Would have been long dead if not for models

I give 5 stars for Mrs Reigns and Mrs Reigns alone.

She is the most drop-dead gorgeous model I've seen so far. My eyes glaze over and my heart rate triples each and every time I see that voluptuous siren goddess appear.

I freely admit that I have not been able to rationalize the dialogue or notice its missed tag changes. I haven't really paid enough attention to become aggravated, as I know I would, by the mc's obvious immaturity and lunacy. I can only read through the pages, waiting then pausing whenever Mrs Reigns appears to gaze longingly at her blockbuster hourglass figure, her dazzlingly vivacious smile, her bewitching sense of humor and her hopelessly obsessive attempts at modesty and feigned outrage.

They say admitting you have a problem is half the way to a cure, but there is no cure for Mrs Reigns and, besides, why would anyone in their right mind want a cure for Mrs Reigns?

I'm rating this 5/5 by the strength of the mom-son interactions. Perhaps its just my fetish, but I found the slow burn, lewd text-heavy relationship between the mom and son characters to be very hot. Is it very logical or realistic? Not particularly. Is it hot for the mother to show her ass in some lingerie and the son begins to think of all the ways he'd go to town on that ass? In my opinion, yes. The rest of the story is all over the place. Perhaps I couldn't get a firm grasp on what was happening or I just became bored, but I don't feel good giving a strong opinion either way. But, if you like curvy milfs and lust-frenzied horse-cocked MCs, then there's a lot of good stuff to be had here.

So, the only good thing this game has going for it, are the Models. The vast majority of the Women in this game are objectively beautiful. Sadly, other than that, there is not much good to say.

In the beginning of the game you get to make maybe four or five choices. Two of those choices are simply a selection of naughty scenes, of which you get to choose one to see. After seeing it, the story will continue in the same way regardless of what you chose. The three story-relevant Choices are "Take this one option, or get a IMMEDIATE Game Over Screen"-Type. And after that, you don't see any choices at all. You just click through the story for hours. So this is by no means a visual novel, it's a kinetic novel.
Now, there is nothing wrong with simply telling a story. But THIS story is just bad. There isn't a single decent line of text in this game, because every conversation (regardless how important, interesting or heartfelt) gets interrupted by MC thinking something along the lines of "WOW WOW LOOK AT HER TITS! I want to BURY MY DICK IN THEM!". The MC you play acts like a hormone-crazed 13-yo without any form of impulse control. You keep getting into trouble because he absolutely has to masturbate to sleeping girls, do things without thinking and being naive. He doesn't consider his choices, believes everything he's told without questioning it and if given the choice, takes the worse of two options.

And then the dev simply doesn't care. Throughout the entire game you have to periodically stop reading and think about who actually said what you just read, because the dialogue-line was labeled with the wrong character. So entire dialogues (between two people) appear to be monologues, because the name-tag above the text-lines doesn't change. Or you, the male MC, ask the girl you sleep with right now to fill you up. Or you see a conversation with one character, while the image you see keeps showing a complete different character (Showing Iris while talking to Candice in the Barn for example). The dev could never be bothered to invest the 5 minutes needed to correct this?

Then the dev picks up plot-devices when convenient, but doesn't do anything with them or drops them as soon as that plot is over. Like, MC is so badly bruised and beat up that everyone who sees him looses their shit. The very next morning he falls from a roof, couldn't feel his legs and passes out for hours. Now he looks even worse than the day before... but a few hours later he's perfectly fine and even sparring with Ella. Because the bruised-up part was only used for a sympathy-scene with the older Sister and no longer relevant after that. Call it nitpicking if you want, but this is just one of many examples of bad writing.

All this "WOW WOW WOW YOU LOOK SO FUCKING HOT! Just... WOW!" is not just unbelievably annoying after a while, it's jet another proof of MCs mental inabilities. All in all, the MC is simply unlikable. Yes, he manages to actually convince the Mom to sleep with him while concious, but I still don't really understand what exactly made that happen (because the guy has basically just been begging her for ten episodes to do perverted stuff and that somehow made her fall in love with him!?). The relation with Iris also came completely out of the left field. She and MC didn't speak so much as two full sentences with each other, then he helps her get rid of a Creep so (naturally) she lets him take topless pictures of her aaaaaaand... now she's got her brothers dick in her mouth. And she is perfectly fine with it. That's A-Grade storytelling right there. Maybe the dev just wanted to have it in there, but didn't want to actually build it into the story.

Everything that happens in the background: The Mafia story, Ellas Life, The government Agencies... all this would be material for an awesome story. But after you get off the island, all you do is drift through MCs vacation-days while molesting women in their sleep and peep on them while changing. That's simply disappointing and wasted potential.

So, the story is shit, the dialogues are annoying, at least the sexy-times must be good. The renders are well made after all. Yeah... only problem is, if your MC receives what feels like the 34th Blowjob in a row, without any mentionable progress, it just gets tedious! At some point you stop looking forward to it and just quit the game.

The spelling is atrocious, a lot of needless capitalization and a lot of times the script has the wrong character as talking.
The renderings are fine, but can't compensate for the writing that seems to have not suffered any kind of proof reading or spell checking.

I had to leave a review after EP11 because the dev has certainly delivered the most awaited scene. I only recommend this if you are a fan of incest games (specially milf mom/son) and you like visual novels beause this is one of the best game out there that you don't want to miss out. There's no actual gameplay hence the negative reviews and back then, people were impatiently waiting for the mc to man up and come back inside his mom where he belongs . Seems like it took forever to get at this point of the story but it's worth the wait.

If you like reading and a story buildup like adventure-development-reward scene and not just straight up sex then you will definetly enjoy this. Story is somehow unrealistic but that is to be expected like most of the adult games out there. I left the game after ep8 because somehow for me it became very tedious but when I started playing again I was surprise by the amount of new content added on the previous episodes. Dialogues are not perfect, sometimes words are missing but you can easily figure them out and use your imagination for a better expeience. Animations aren't that good either, most of the sex scenes just consists of MC's horse cock moving up and down.

If you like skipping dialogues and only play this for sex scenes then you should expect to have a very boring experience. It must also be said that at this point the dev is turning this game into a compliment simulation. You will learn a lot of uncommon words

(Episode 11) - Minor spoilers

Edit: After playing the latter half of all available content, I'm bumping the rating to 3/5 stars. The MC has finally gotten bored of jerking off on sleeping women, and is actually fooling around with conscious women now. I'm still skipping through dozens of lines of dialogue in every scene, but the game is moving at a much better pace overall. My old review and my reactions to the first half of the game are in spoilers below.

This is the simpiest simp fantasy that ever simped. We're supposed to believe MC is enough of a badass to take out multiple people in a heist, but he's too much of a bitch to fuck anyone? FOH. What a waste of time.

This game could be really hot. What I do not like at this game: too less choices and too less different paths to choose. The storyline is mostly linear like in a visual novel, which makes all a bit boring. The graphic and most of the characters are really nicely made. I do not like this old man, which you can see in countless other games here. For now I can give only 3 of 5 stars, but the game have potential to get even 5 stars!

I finally played through to the end of the current build. There are good and bad things here.
So the story is great. I am loving the whole Mafia story and what's been going on. However, there are SEVERAL instances of the wrong character doing the speaking. The editing to show what is said and thought needs to be improved, because as you're reading some of the 'thoughts' they are displayed as if they are spoken. There are a few scenes where a character not even in the scene is speaking, but you know it should be someone else. Not sure if English is the Dev Team's first language, but there are spelling mistakes, though not as much as some VNs, but noticeable.
The VN started off with some choices, none really too consequential, but I thought as time went on, there would be more. However it's really turned into a Kinetic Novel, which can be fine... but there are times where I would like to have more choice as the MC as there are times where he's a blithering idiot. Some may be warranted, but there are other times where based on past choices he should know better.
I don't mind the slow burn. The team has given some great lewd scenes and the payoff in this last episode was well worth it. I do think there are scenes that maybe shouldn't have been shown, but more implied... but that's personal and not a reflection of a good or bad choice by the Devs.
Overall, I have enjoyed this VN so far, even with it's flaws. Looking forward to future updates in the hopes of seeing a happy resolution for the MC... though I am also worried there won't be one for everyone involved... which kind of sucks, but that's just my personal theory. So, best of luck to the Devs.

Gameplay- There is none. At first you were given choices to choose from which would lead you to believe that you can actually influence how the story will go. After the story progresses you will soon realize that it is a kinetic novel because one of the choices is a game over while the other is how the dev wants it to progress. (Just try it. After going home from the plane crash, you can press skip and it will play like a slideshow till the end of the update.) It would have been fine if it was labeled as kinetic but seeing as this game has been in development for years and wasn't labeled as such is purely misleading. No points for this one
Renders/Art- The art is good and above average however the mom looks too young, almost unbelievably for such age but hey, it's an adult game. We're free to fantasize. Easily 4 points
Story- It was funny how the mom doesnt act like one right off the bat. It's almost as if she has zero morality with how she acts around the mc, but moving on. I think what the story needs is a charismatic antagonist since there was already action scenes introduced. There was a hint that someone is plotting against his family, most likely because of their fortune. Not really new, but it might turn out different than some cliched b movie flick. Anddd..... it did fell short on its execution as expected. It wasnt gripping and there was no sense of urgency of what was happening. I felt that there was never really a time were the mc's life was truly in danger. You knew somehow that the odds will still be in his favor(the plane crash- they survived unscathed like wtf??). The dev just missed the opportunity to introduce weaknesses that will make the reader feel closer to the mc. That's just my opinion really. I might be expecting too much from an adult game. For grammatical errors, there were a few basic ones like the words "than" and "then". It felt like it was written by a fifth grader who can't distinguish those two words, but nothing too major really. Still i'll give it 1 point for effort

I'm confused with this game... while I want to like it I just can't and have to play this is small doses (seriously, 5 minute doses is all I can handle with the MC's creepiness).

The renders for the most part are good and a lot better than some games that have recently been released. Some the renders just appear to be over exposed and just doesn't feel good to the eyes.

I suppose what grates me the most is the inner fucking useless monologue of MC and just comes across as more cringeworthy than any actually decent monologues to progress the MC's character.

The premise for the game is good just the execution of it is done poorly. Dev just seems to want to tease you too much with relationship that is budding with the main female character and just appears to be dragging out the encounter; this is annoying me big time. Yes, having a slow burn before the actual act is okay but each update just gives you more teasing before actual sex is putting me and I expect a lot of others just off the game.

Edit: I've not got to the end of the current version but have now decided to abandon the game - the dev is just fucking with us the players and thinks that cockblocking is going to be fun for the players - once or twice, is fine but now it is happening every time and this isn't funny anymore.

Good luck with the game, dev - you're going to lose too many players the way you have been going.

The graphics are nice enough, but the story is incoherent and at times just very underwhelming with weak plot points and ill-defined characters. There is room for improvement. the developer is promising, so this could be a better game in the future.

The premise of this game is very interesting and the characters are all very different from one another. I had played a bunch of games together for review purposes and this one caught my eye the most. it is not perfect but it is a very good atempt and it is clear that effort has been made into delevoping the world, the character and the story. This one is well worth watching and possibly donating to.

This game is not good and actually can not even be called a game. Like a novel you just go along with, a really really bad novel you will cringe to at some of the dialogue and happenings.

Main character is a clown and horrible, the story is terrible and this games writers standards must be very low if he is giving the ok to publish this.

Anything of worth does not happen for very long lengths of time and you will sometimes question how you are even forcing yourself to push forward reading.
