HTML - Completed - Slugs And Bugs: Invasion [v3.1] [Anaximanes]

This game's really unique and I honestly just enjoy seeing something so creepy and off-kilter, a huge turn-on, especially with how nasty the bugs all look. Good horror and good porn. I think the creator has cornered a great niche with their work, some of it works, some of it doesn't but all of it is high-effort and has a lot of passion put into its atmosphere which is more than I can say for 90% of erotic games.

You are the moth and this game is the flame. Well, as long as you're into corruption and parasitic bugs. There's a bit of (somewhat avoidable) gore I could do without, but it's not going to require eye bleach, if you can handle the rest.

I'll say this: it's been a while since a game made me stay up til 4 a.m... and it wasn't because of fear, heh.

Now, to be a bit more serious... This is a very well put together CYOA with plenty of branching, and with it being an interactive novel, you'll be doing a fair bit of reading (IMO the intro is a bit drawn out, but I guess that's what you gotta do when you want to introduce so many characters), but each scene has a (mostly unique) nice image or two that certainly help...

I honestly don't see the point of games like these. It's porn, but it barely has sex scenes, and the ones that exist are not hot. So it's not worth fapping to at all. What's the point of playing it then? For entertainment? In that department, it falls very short in comparison to real games. Should I treat it as a novel? The story is hardly passable as novel worthy.

If you're looking for a quick fap, go elsewhere. If you're looking to be entertained, go elsewhere.

With that said, quality of the game is pretty high compared to similar games in this genre, so it does have that going for it.

I'm quite negative on lesbian focused stuff but because in this CYOA text is the focus, and not the images I were able to go with that having lots of fun.

Yet still, the images are very well done, with elite level editing. They in combination with the text can give a great atmosphere of horror, while not trying to scare you with some shitty tricks like jump scares.

The plot is wonderful. As you, reader, probably know the general plot is: there's an alien invasion and everything goes bad. The only plot hole is that if stuff you see in the intro would happen (I won't spoil, go play it) the post office would likely be reorganized into something that could hold together the entire administration and communication of all countries and it would be quite 40k'ish if you know Warhammer universe.
And I see it as a hole because protagonist is watching all those news in TV and there are no information about possible plans to live in the conditions that are coming. (but it's just me overthinking a detail)
Writing more on the plot, the protagonist gains powers later on, and it is all earned, so you don't play any Marry Sue.

Big + for a gore scene for me. (cuz I can be biased on this site)

The only cringe thing in the game is called out by the author himself and made fun of, which makes it into a good humor.

I have a hard time picking any problems with the game. Probably because it's going to be fucked over soon by a remake. Cerebrum and Desideratum (newer games) are more of actual games than CYOA and therefore you spend more time clicking arrows on the left side of the game in HTML rather than enjoying the product. (and that fucking mole breeding scene, wtf Anax, you need some help?)

My favorite work from Anaximanes I enjoyed the dark humor and such very good writing very well edited real life porn images I would miss this now that he's making the other projects with Daz but still I will anticipate more of his projects to come!

First off, I should state that I do not consider this a game. It is a CYOA novel done in twine, with edited images (though they may be replaced eventually), and sound (including music). Second, as far as erotic content goes, it is definitely not for everyone (it certainly wasn't to my taste and I like mind control and corruption). I was not aroused by 95ish% of this game (pretty much 2 bad ends slightly aroused me and one was extremely short).

In spite of the above, I believe it is worth reading Slugs and Bugs. The effort Anax has put into it is apparent within minutes if you've ever read more than one CYOA novel on twine. The content was well written for the most part, and it was quite clear that Anax put a great deal of thought into world-building (which of course makes sense, since most of his games and novels will/do take place in the same universe, or an alternate reality of that universe in Factions case).

The quality of the edited images is top-notch (even if they are quite gross at times). If you are particularly squeamish, you may have to give this one a pass. You were warned. I believe I read somewhere while lurking, that they will be replaced with Daz3d renders eventually. So, this section of my review may become obsolete.

The sound effects and music fit the theme quite nicely. There is only one instance in the entire novel where I felt a sound effect was distracting (a skip-able dream sequence, if you don't care about unlocking every character page... or you could just mute it like I did if you find it annoying too).

All-in-all, I found it a worthy read. The canon ending, while not necessarily my favorite from an erotic standpoint (which is, after all, why we are here), actually had me laughing out loud. Without spoiling anything, I would definitely read more of what happens after the canon ending of this story.

Note about my rating: I believe 5 stars should be given only to a perfect/flawless masterpiece. Therefore, I will probably never give a game 5 stars on this site (sorry Anax ). My official rating of this NOVEL is 4.5 rounded down.

It's no where near worth a fap in my books BUT it's extremely interesting. I hate reading long texts but this was rather interesting to be honest. If you play it to pass the time it will be like a small little action/strategy game that includes some nudity and some weird shit. The art is really well made even though we're talking about twisted things and the story is really good. Rating this as game not by the quality of the fap you should expect
