I've been looking for a game I played last year but I can't seem to remember the name. It was played in browser with it's own website.
IIRC - the premise was you being hired as a maid(?) for some mansion in the outskirts.
also, I am not sure if female is the default option for the protagonist, but I remember choosing that.
Some additional details - the game had 2D hand drawn art, with a black and white style.
Also idk if it counts as a game or interactive fiction. It was probably made using html / twine
