I'm trying to remember the details, but what I do remember is that is was set in the future, or just sci-fi. The main character, female, had a scientist father, liked games (maybe wanted to make one), and had a friend that worked in an arcade. The arcade got bought out, she got mad and wrecked the inventory, then got indebted to the mob that bought it out. The detective wanted to bust his corrupt cop friends and started working with her.
