This is a hard line for me to cross. There's nothing that bothers me more than a game telling the player how to solve a puzzle. I always want to treat the player like they are paying attention to details and not step on their toes as they try and figure things out.perhaps having one of the heroines chime in about when you first encounter it and have them talk about softening the blow or landing it on something else would be useful? maybe have them point out that map functionality as well?
