Hello everyone, I hope you're doing well. Today, I wanted to reach out and share some concerns I've been facing regarding the approval process for my SubscribeStar page.

Recently, my Patreon page was unexpectedly deleted without any prior warning. In order to continue my game development, I have been actively seeking other platforms. SubscribeStar is my preferred choice. Around ten days ago, I followed the instructions and sent an "EXPEDITE" email. I have also shared the link to my SubscribeStar page on various platforms, such as Twitter, F95 Zone, and included these platform links in my email. However, I have yet to receive any response.

Additionally, I have created a Discord group and linked it to SubscribeStar, using the appropriate email address for contact. I have also provided screenshots of my games and social media platforms.

Over the past ten days, I have attempted to contact them again to inquire about the approval process, but I have not received any reply. I must admit, the sudden deletion of my Patreon page has led me to lose the support I had gathered over the past year, and I feel frustrated and anxious. Could anyone please suggest methods to expedite the approval process? Have I missed anything? Would anyone who has successfully applied be able to offer some advice? or i just keep waiting? Thank you very much for your assistance.

Would it have been due to this?

"Images of human or animal abuse." That's broad-ranging and ambiguous. Even if the humans are fictional, rape wouldn't be permitted?

But that was all been discussed (criticized) before by others, anyway.

How can it be unexpected ?

Among the tags for your game, there's Rape. Being kicked out of a platform that forbid none consensual sex isn't surprising when your content have none consensual sex.

It's not infrequent, you've to wait for the only guy behind to be in the mood to answer you.

Oh you again, the Patreon agent..

Well, let's take a look at this:

You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.

Translated: Yeah we could, we could not ban you for rape content.survivor story maybe? not "glorified" enough?.who knows...depends on the mood of our gestapo team (which we call "trust and safety" team because it's funni to name things the opposite of what they actually do)

:WaitWhat:

Well, let's take a look at this:

"[...] However, we have zero tolerance when it comes to the glorification of sexual violence which includes bestiality, rape, and child exploitation (i.e., sexualized depiction of minors). This is true for illustrated, animated, or any other type of creations. Patreon reserves the right to review and remove accounts that may violate this guideline. We also do not allow other fringe sexual fetish creations, such as incest, necrophilia, or fetish creations that are hard to distinguish from non-consensual sex. We understand that some topics on this list such as incest or rape are a little bit more complicated because these situations are, unfortunately, part of real life. As a result, when reviewing these types of creations, the Trust and Safety team will take into consideration context including personal, historical or educational narrative. For example, survivor stories or fiction such as Lolita are allowed on Patreon."
[Emphasis is mine]

Translation: The only cases where rape will be tolerated is if it's part of a real person life (as victim, not as aggressor), part of the context for the historical event(s) depicted, or used for educational purpose.

Quoting is good, but understanding what you quote would have been way better.

 What is hard to understand in "real person life" ?

What they would allow is a person talking about the rape she was the victim. Yet, like for the rest, obviously as part of the story, not as lewd content.

Thank you for your response. I'm currently contemplating if there's any way to avoid such a situation. I am unsure whether Patreon agent actually played my game content or simply removed my page based on rape tags.

If I create a new game with some rape content but without any "rape" tags and without mentioning anything about rape in the game, would i be safe?

Yeah, I'm thinking about how to make a rape game without getting ban in Patreon.

That is like, your interpretation. You can't even gasp all the possible questions going in with that patreons take on rape. What is glorification exactly? If you play a female who gets raped and feels good? Or if she feels bad? Depends on the perspective of the player. And the "real life" context makes no sense at all here. What does " context including personal, historical or educational narrative" even mean? A whole game can be interpreted as such

Take it as it is. Patreon is open for complete random decisions without any clear guidelines

No you wouldn't be safe. Patreon don't go around hunting games to ban, they respond to reports. Leaving out the tags/not mentioning rape won't stop some player stumbling across the content and then reporting it to Patreon, who will then most likely nuke your page, again. At best you're rolling the dice and hoping no one reports it. Best to forget about Patreon for the content you want to develop.

it's not hard to understand unless you bend your brain trying to skirt the rules

because patreon allows rape, there will always be a grey zone depending on context but you don't have to make it harder than it is. to put it simple: "adult game on f95" is not within the context they allow.

but if you're digging into the grey zone, it will always be there which means it will always be subject to patreon's interpretation. compare with movies. there is no clear definition on where you draw the line between what is a porn movie, an erotic movie, or just a movie with some erotic content.

the only mainstream/"respected" movie I know that has actual hardcore porn in it, is by lars von trier. he even got nominated at cannes film festival for it. does that mean patreon would allow something comparable on their site? well no because patreon has a blanket ban on sex with real people. but even that ban aside, it's unclear if patreon would allow it, but it's very possible, because the idiots is not a porn movie or even an erotic movie. the porn is just a quick sequence that fits with the narrative. sex scenes are very common in mainstream movies, only they don't usually show actual sex. this movie did.

now if you developed a game that was not a porn game, but say a game with a serious narrative that had a rape scene about a character that's there for story reasons, not intending it to be fap material or anything, patreon would allow it. if you try to get away with rape to sell, trying to skirt the rules, just forget it or don't blame patreon when they ban your ass

But you can use your brain, understand the words, and come to an interpretation close enough to what they meant.
For the rest, there's the link to ask the safety team if your reading is correct or not.

What is glorification exactly? If you play a female who gets raped and feels good? Or if she feels bad? Depends on the perspective of the player.
Really ? To simplify, it's the exaggeration of something positive importance.

Therefore, it doesn't matters if the victim feel good or bad, and it also doesn't matters what perspective the player will follow while playing. The instant where rape is presented as a way of life, or a natural behavior to have, and frequently appear in the story, it is glorification in the eyes of the law.

And the "real life" context makes no sense at all here. What does " context including personal, historical or educational narrative" even mean?
In this context, "real life" is the opposite of "fiction", and "personal" is the legal word to describe this. The story is about something that happened to you, or the testimony made by someone.
A book talking about sexual abuse and including the testimonies of some victims to illustrate their trauma would be permit ; even if that testimony include details of the abuse.
A fiction can not fall in that category, because it would be a made up story, not a personal story.

"Historical" mean that it's part of the real event(s) that really happened for real in real life.
If you talk about whatever real war that took place in the real human History, and add few words regarding the rape perpetuated by the soldiers conquering whatever town, it will be permit ; as long as you haven't totally made up the fact that rapes happened during that said conquest.
Here again, a fiction can not fall in that category, because it wouldn't be historical, but totally made up.

As for "educational", is it really needed to explain what the word mean ? :/
My first example would also fall under that category. The testimonies would have an educational value, helping the reader to understand what a victim of rape effectively feel, both when it happen and after it happened.
It's the only time where fiction can possibly be tolerated. Yet only in if you use purely made up examples in place of depicting real events. But, will the example could be fictional, the whole creation still need to not be a fiction. This in the same way that a textbook contain fictional events but aren't a fiction ; "if a train A leave that town at X, going at Y speed, and a train B leave this town a Z, going at W speed, when will they cross ?" is fictional.

A whole game can be interpreted as such
A whole game is fictional by definition, and therefore can not be interpreted as such.
It can possibly be an educational game, but then he would present the rape briefly, before focusing on the victim reaction afterwards.

Plus, in before, shouldn't be forgot that games, for adult or not, represent just a small part of the content funded through Patreon. The ToS do not specifically address them, they address all possible content. And here it's precisely what is done.
Patreon is explaining that you can still write none fictional books, or have an episode of your podcast/video channel talking about none fictional events that would include the banned content. They just haven't explicitly excluded games because perhaps that one day, one person, will achieve to make a none game that is totally not fictional and will briefly include some banned content.

Now, unless I missed the part of my History courses where Orcs was a real species now extinguished, OP's game is a fiction, and therefore absolutely not fall under one of the exceptions.

Patreon is open for complete random decisions without any clear guidelines
It's a legal document, the text that would be used in court to defend their contested decision. A legal experts team spent a lot of time thinking every single words in it, every single punctuation sign, in order to make it reflect, as perfectly as possible, the meaning it need to express. In no way it's unclear guidelines opened to randomness.

"part of real life" doesn't mean the creation has to be about real persons, it's just saying these things happen, so there can be valid reasons to have them as part of stories, fictional or not

"including" doesn't mean only.

and they literally say rape and incest in fiction is allowed - depending on context

so you can have a rape scene in a game, but not in anything that would be close to a fap game

Good thing then that I didn't said, nor even implied, that.

Look again at the emphasis. My three points sentence was relatively clearly addressing their "personal, historical or educational narrative", explaining what it meant.

So, while you are talking about the reason why they have a tolerance, I was talking about the main space in which that tolerance is applied.

what i see is that you're taking the phrase "context including..." and then say that only that after including is allowed. that's literally what you said. if you meant "with respect to the part after including, here is what they mean" then i get it. so let's say that's what you meant, it's just a strange choice of word to use "only".
