A pleasant ride throughout that never quite reaches the heights it could've, but it's still worthwhile to go through. The writer clearly is capable of creating a magical world filled with different species and clans that makes sense and is interesting. The overarching plot is fun to explore(albeit a bit too straightforward and lacking stakes).
Here's what holds the game back imo: there's not enough drama and the LIs-especially the latter ones- don't get their individual moments to shine. Most of them get 2-3 scenes at best and it becomes an exercise in choosing whether to add them in your harem or not. The passage of time in this game is too slow(this is a general problem with most VNs btw) with the entire story taking place in a matter of weeks so there's not enough time for the relationships to flesh out. And finally, the sex scenes are not well animated.
So overall, this is 3.5 stars but I'm giving extra stars for completing the game and the general worldbuilding.
Good and very long novel with a non-asshole MC.
This game could have turned into a non-VN management RPG to extend gameplay time but the VN is long enough as it is.
Only complaint though... is that even with the mod to replay the scenes, I wished there was a way to navigate the pathes and replays easily without resorting to extensive save/loading, like selecting story paths just like Midnight Ride.
Sorcerer really shines with its story, world and characters. Modern times but with magic, magical creatures and sorcerers. We play as a pretty respectful adult (so no typical horny teenage), fairly recent awakened sorcerer. We try to build our house/clan and deal with different situations regarding the magical society. Writing is pretty solid for the most part, and just discovering this world, and learning about different things is pretty interesting and engaging. And since, we as a lord of the house will need heirs, there actually is a pretty valid reason to have sex and impregnate every woman we met. Non humans included. We'll meet a fairly decent cast of characters on our journey: demon lords, spirits, gorgons, trolls, pixies and more. There is a quite big amount of possible love interests. Some of them unfortunately doesn't get enough screen time and we see them only once or twice. Some of them are more interesting than the others, some are not really developed that much. There are some key choices in the game which influence some story bits, and based on your choices you have access to few different girls along the way.
Visual quality is pretty solid. Renders are quite nice, and models look ok. No animations unfortunately. Two things were bothering me a bit: pretty much no dialogue during sex scenes and not great camera angles during both talking and sex. There are no close ups on characters, no first person perspective shots. I don't know, maybe i'm just nitpicking but sometimes it feels for me like we (as a player) are only watching this events from the sideline, not engaging directly in the action. All this combined with no music makes sex scenes not that entertaining. They're not bad, but they could be a bit better with better presentation, better camera angles and some talking. Also, not enough group sex. We're building this harem so there should be plenty of opportunities for some group action. There are some group scenes in the game but mostly they involve side characters. A bit disappointing.
Ultimately Sorcerer is fairy interesting title. It's not the best game ever made, but it's not doing anything bad. Some things could be a bit better here and there but overall it's a good and quite enjoyable 15 hours long experience in the world full of magic.
the author knows how to write a mature protagonist, since there is no BS going on. i only hoped that there was more content for each girl, and ofc no animations brings it down a little, but still enough to be 4.5/5.
Story 5/5
The game has really good world building and the story the MC goes through is really thought of and well made. The only downside is that we are told of many things but we are not shown much. I would like the game to be bigger so the dev could show more. That being said, if you like fantasy and magic, you will like this story.
Characters 4/5
The characters are diverse in visuals and character. They are all likeable for my tastes (except susan, who acted like an annoying teenager for 99% of her screentime). They are well made and beautiful. The MC's character is a bit cold (that is explained in-game though), nevertheless he is a good dude.
The negative is that there is no character development, as well as, as there are many characters in the game, some get very little screentime.
Sex scenes 2/5
Well, this is one of the two things i did not like about the game. The sex scenes, first of all are not animated. Its just 2 pictures that go back and forth. The other thing is that the characters, although beautiful, feel empty and souless. No emotion on their face. You have to click through them (or let it play auto for 5 min for a sex scene) and it becomes like a chore.
Music 0
The game has no music whatsoever. This and the cinematography, which is really bad make the game feel empty. Like the sex scenes, there is no emotion on the character's faces.
Again, if you like fantasy and magic stories, you will like this one. Give it a try.
love it ,almost 100% of it,but after playing again since last time,i was being too nice and not fair with the rating[before i gave it a ,45\5 ]now i cant ,.
the scripts was good enough to keep you in and out from the beggining, but man ,after all this time ,the end fell so rushed,so dissapointed,.
a harem game wich dont include some of the harem lady's in the end doesnt seem right to me, and to think ,happend the same with his other game, i dont know why ,but maybe is the burnt out ,need to be,bcs dev had good skil for a nice script but not so good with endings,[remind me of games of thrones....yeah i know no need to compare ,but still..that ending]
This is a strange one. It is evident that some thought was put into the worldbuilding and the general premise to make this game something more then simple wank material, but the story is rather weak. In terms of structure, it quickly becomes something like 'go to x, fuck x, go to y, fuck y, have dialogue with someone you've already fucked, go to z, fuck z', over and over again.
All this fucking happens in a rather boring way, I might add. This is the strangest thing. You have a diverse cast of characters: unexperienced damsels in distress, spirits, kitsunes, asian GILFs, trolls, even some disabled people. And while this inclusivity, for the lack of better word, is fine and dandy, all the girls fuck the same. I feel that the developer doesn't think that a great fuck is what makes a great character in an adult VN. But if it's all the same with demons and military veterans, where's the fun in that? And if sex is not imporant, then why is there dozens of the samey scenes during every rather undewhelming turn of this story?
Remember playing this long time ago and dropped this from some reasons what a fool I am. Give this one a try after playing tribulations of a mage cause I loved that one. Now Sorcerer is my top fav fantasy visual novel that contains magical elements. This one got all which I love story centric, visuals, pretty girls and monster girls with variety, good writing and fetishes. Got the ending 5 sorcerer lord. Didn't go for other endings played with shaddy mod. I wish dev showed MC become sorcerer lord and his house with full of his girls. And some conflicts with other houses though.
According to me
Good points
+ Visuals
+ Pretty girls
+ Variety of monster girls and monsters
+ Story
+ Writing
+ MC ( he got his own class and charm. Not a horny guy who is constantly trying to get into pants of girls)
+ Harem
+ Pregnancy
+ Pregnancy sex
+ No of sex scenes (65 should've included 69 though : it's not a fuck fest either. Sex scenes happens on their own pace)
+ Good pace
+ Well executed fight scenes ( l loved this most fights with magic would be top notch if it had sound effects)
+ Completed ( big plus)
Neutral
* Automatically cum inside girls for pregnancy cause it's essential for story ( those who loves facials would be disappointed)
* GILF ( dev has a fetish for this but not my cup of tea but I didn't avoid it either)
Bad points
- No animations (but if you put sex scenes as automatic you can view it as animation)
- No sound effects ( wish those fight scenes contains sound effects)
- No talk during sex scenes ( since we are all experienced just imagine the talks in your head)
- No lactating scenes ( I wouldn't mention this but during pregnancy sex scenes milk came out from some girl's boobs so dev could have added lactating scenes)
- Since there are lot of LIs some girls got only fewer screen time (Especially Hannah : she is in the banner image yeah that fiery red head. Dev should have showed her in the ending too only just mentioned her)
- Some pretty girls are not LIs ( they appear for the story sake and disappear)
- Antagonist should have been more powerful ( it's reason is clearly mentioned but it would be more interesting if he's more powerful)
If you love story centric fantasy visual novels with magic you should definitely try this you will love it. Will love to see a second part of this
The story is pretty good, though it gets a bit repetitive during the gathering and laying of allies. The adult scenes are a bit wooden for me. It would be good to have some dialogue included to make them more emotional. The humor was pretty great though! I loved seeing some of the interesting background happenings, it felt like there was depth added to the world by those. The characters were great and so were the variety! I'm looking forward to your other stories.
How anyone can give anything less than the full five for this game is a mystery. It has it al - adventure, hot sex, great characters, beautiful women (for the most part), Wraith as The Eternal Champion on another plane of existence, very cool story line, and hot sex. Here's hoping for Sorcerer 2.
After over twenty hours of gameplay, Sorcerer is a game for players who like to dig into their story. This is a love letter to magic, fantasy and otherworldly species of the weirdest kind. Expect lightning, fireballs and wings - but also family, teambuilding and a lot of hot opportunities to make a house a ho-home. Like the angel says to the main character - 'You were never one to hide from trouble'. Let's get into the kind of trouble you would bring home to your co-workers.
STORY
Arguably the best thing about Sorcerer is storytelling. This game takes you from a series of bad-written, random events onto a full-blown magic adventure. The writing skill of the developer got a lot better during development and more believable within a fantasy setting. There are many unique approaches to situations within this game and while there are hundreds of events happening, most of them remain memorable far after you’ve completed the game. That’s completely due to the diligent and consistent story writing, which highlights the developers research into this subject.
The devil is - pun intended - in the details. Subtle variations between faerie and sprite, imp and goblin, Japanese and American, titan and orc, angel and demi-angel - this writer knows fantasy material and the inherent characteristics that come with each variation. Impressive, especially with so many species in one game. Often, a visual signal representing a race will let you know who you are dealing with if you learn to look for it. That level of detail is a quality.
I will note however - the start of the game is pretty low-quality story wise. The ending is way better and choices are handled appropriately, but I would love for this game to get an update where both of them are further developed. The ‘WTF’ confusion of the first 20 minutes doesn’t do the rest of the game justice at all and me finally seeing/meeting the primary antagonist in the final 10 minutes robs the story of dramatic weight. The story arc is by no means bad - but I like it so much that the final climax should be equally as memorable.
In my 20+ hrs playthrough, a lot happened with a lot of races in a lot of locations. From different biomes to interiors, almost everything looks like it respects the environment it needs to represent. That goes a long way for Sorcerer, even though the writing has a tendency to show faults at times. Being such a strong story-heavy game, I hope someone can one day go back and polish this gem up. There’s so much fun story building in here that I can imagine people falling in love with this universe.
PRESENTATION
While playing on Android, I was impressed at the visuals on my tablet. Because the game sometimes uses small hints in the background of scenes, it’s important for things to look right. And they do, if maybe a bit old-school in rendering. For my taste, it looks great. Better than believable and it’s the outlier species where this game truly shines. From wings to elemental manifests, care is put into the way things are represented. Down to the way magic spells bound people and magic platforms keep people afloat, it’s believable while being unrealistic.
Swapping to PC I figured out the sex scenes were less of a hassle than on Android. It features screenshots and animations (which are usually just two screens alternating). Most sex scenes (and there are a ton) are pretty basic and dry - which is a bit of a let-down considering the characters are fleshed out. There’s almost no ‘sex talk’ and while courting and flirting is in the game, it’s kept to a minimum. It sometimes just makes you want to ‘skip through’ a sex scene, which is sad because the dev puts in so much work. On PC, there’s an additional ‘cum’ camera angle added and it’s welcomed, because there’s a gripe I have to mention next.
My biggest culprit with the graphics are camera angles. That’s not to say the camera angles in this game are bad - but this game habitually doesn’t do closeups. There are exceptions (like certain ‘small’ sex scenes), but many times I would have wanted the game to zoom in on something personal - and it sticks to wide shots. This dev does know framing well (as shown in conversation shots), so there has to be a deliberate reason for this. In example - when the cabin attack (intro) happens, I could barely make out what was attacking or who was attacked. I think the dev has since picked up the variation to make for better storytelling, but I would have liked more of that.
Overall, graphics are good to great. When in special environments, you can really tell the developer wanted to take the time to do something extra and it shows. Creatures look great yet practical and spells are fully believable. Personally I would have loved more facial interaction from the characters, but if you peep closely you’ll see some facial action happening. Yes, those facials as well. There are inconsistencies in placement throughout, but those are easily forgiven looking at the amount of content this game has.
GAMEPLAY
It’s a VN, so while there isn’t much technical gameplay - choices do matter and give you different paths leading to different partners. You can become a loyal soloist with a Lady of the Arts, just as well become a courter of many within your magical circle or even go commando on every hole which offers itself. I would have loved a hinting system that let’s you know what influence your choice made (either through direct feedback or in the end), but I guess that’s part of the charm of finding out. The game has rollback enabled, so if you feel like it isn’t the choice for your MC, pick a different one.
OVERALL
This is a great game and must-play if you like magic/fantasy. It needs a better start and it could use a more dramatic ending, but otherwise works well. Even the one supporting character I disliked most grew on me in the end. The game runs long and while sometimes it may appear a bit directionless, friends will always make sure you get into something. I don't know how it would work out with the baby-making factory, but I would love to see a return to this franchise happen. Short list of kinks I encountered at the top of the spoiler section.
4/5. Pretty interesting story with lore-accurate details and really likeable side characters. Though I must say, maybe there's a little too many characters, hence we actually don't get a lot of content with those that we enjoy. Not the best H scenes tho, along with the lack of sound. Game length might also be a little long for some.
Pros:
-Fairly interesting plot
-Some likeable side characters
-MC is not stupid
-Maria, Iria, Leen
-Different kind/types of girls
Cons:
-No music and sound effects
-A little too long of a story, feels draggy at times
-Repeated generic intimate scenes
-Some unavoidable scenes
-Some LI's story feels incomplete
-Weak enemies
-Unavoidable banging of pregnant ladies in the endings
Great story and worldbuilding along with MC who's not a total asshole and great likeable side characters. Also a completed game which is a rarity on this site. Easily one of the best visual novels on here.
Good story, nice animations, MC who is a man not a pussy. Good chunk of optional content (multi-mod is much help). Enjoyable, lengthy, slow paced game without unreasonable out-of-place sex scenes. And you can fuck granny
You're not gonna hear that too often from me - but game got me coloured impressed! The Story is captivating. Well, ok the sex-scenes are a bit strange - but well I'm here for the story lol
Thanks @Talothral - that a hell of a work - and a great work!
This AVN has captivating worldbuilding, intriguing characters, and immersive writing. While the renders are somewhat lackluster, the models themselves are solid, and expressively characterize their respective narrative agents. The only things this needs are proper animations, polish, and a goddam sequel. While the MC can come across as somewhat infallible, I personally enjoyed the reprieve from incompetent adolescent creeps, who are the usual mainstay protagonists of F95 AVNs. Overall Sorcerer is definitely worth experiencing, and I think shows Talothral's great potential, they just need to expand their staff to include some animators.
Pros:
+ Interesting story
+ Dev properly did his research in terms of the lore
+ Attractive and distinguishable character models
+ Choices actually matter
+ MC is likable
+ Prioritizes story over sex scenes
+ Balanced humor
Undecided:
(?) Game length (might be a little too long for others)
(?) Dated graphics (can't really blame the dev for this one so I'm putting it here)
Cons:
- Generic sex scenes
- Dragging at times
- Some LIs aren't fleshed out enough
- Underwhelming antagonists
- Lack of music and sound effects
- Endings could've been a little more satisfactory
- Lack of real danger
Scenes are well done both in mechanics (lightning, focus etc) and design, locations look beautiful and most of the time there is always something going on, be it a background or front.
It seems author has extensive knowledge on fantasy/myths/ethos and it makes story and setting believable and interesting.
Writing is good and consistent. Albeit i prefer to receive information only from perspective of main character, (but it is my preference and can be achieved with some skipping - it does not impair story or hinder understanding of situation) interactions of other characters are also well done.
This game vastly improves after 30 minutes-ish, and continues to get better over time. At the start, the game was boring, the graphics looked awful, the little sex there was wasn't hot. As things progress, however, I found myself increasingly invested in the plot and the characters, and found the sex scenes hotter. The visuals are still low quality, but your eye adjusts, and the locales and models get more visually interesting. The game is very satisfying, fulfilling a power fantasy without being boring. The line-by-line writing is rocky, with dialogue feeling unnatural especially at the start (in particular the muted reaction to the revelation of magic). It improves but isn't perfect. What won me over and made me truly enjoy the game was the fact that the mc's harem is diverse and built on love, the monster girls are hot, and knocking them up is hot asf.
amazing work by the dev ,story is nice the pace is good ,models you have all kind of type, renders also good.
the bad is the ending i feels that kinda rush and short also miss many chatacters in those endings.
but a solid 4.5/5 stars for me.
THx you Talothral
