Ya. So. This game is not good.
The game does have a scene collection in a separate executable. So you can check out the art to see if you like it. And then if you have a love for sidescroller beat'em all games, there is some chance that you will appreciate Soul of Phantasy. Otherwise, I mean, it doesn't take more than a few minutes to just check the scenes. But even then I doubt it's worth your time.
The fighting is meh. Practically all the dodging is centered around you navigating the vertical axis -- on a 2D sidescroller. It's visually dumb and the control is clunky. The fighting animation centers around 3-5 moves and is way too simplistic to sustain the full story length. The full 2D animation where your character is a slice, and the environment is just a background image, makes it visually uninspiring. It's way too much supposed action for way too little nothing. I find myself wholly uninspired and simply avoiding enemies as much as possible. Even then, the game is way too boring to get through.
H-scene is mostly all combat related -- if you get caught or lost a fight, you can see the H-scenes. There is no lewdness. There is no character interaction. You just get raped by monsters and that's about it. The art is ehh.
H scene arts... I am not going to waste time describing why vacuous nothing is vacuous nothing.
The UI is mediocre. Why leave out the vertical keys for fast moves?
The map design is painfully weak. You as a player are simply supposed to exhaust all possible exits and entrances to find locked doors one after another and then unlock those doors one after another. Story scenes and boss fights will be placed along the rooms you enter. Except backtracking is painfully slow and long -- through background images that lack details or character. The game tries to let you experience using jumps. But the places where jumps are required -- where the game wants to portray vertical differences -- are often visually, simply, flat. etc etc (Not worth the time elaborating more.) The end result is the navigation is more of a nuisance.
Separately, I find the frames jittery enough and the images' perspectives strange enough to get dizzy from it after playing a while and then closing the game.
Not going to bother with rounding up a summary here. The game is not worth my while or yours.
Rarely do I download an H-game and delete completely without archiving it to a removable drive for collection. Soul of Phantasm is one such exception and the decision to delete was quick and easy.
