Source Files/Projects Anywhere?

Thinking of getting into Adult game development as a hobby. I've done enough development to know that I don't want to start from scratch. I would much rather start changing and modifying an existing code base than waste days rebuilding core functionality.

For any engine other than renpy (including Unity and Unreal) are there source files of a project available somewhere?

Thinking of a Sci-Fi setting but whatever works. ChatGPT just pointed me to open source fly a spaceship around games and top town shooters. Maybe some adult game developers have open sourced their code? Or someone has pirated source files uploaded somewhere? How are modders getting their hand on games and editing them?

UE 5.6 included new templates / variants. They are showcased on YT. There was also an effort to have more tutorials on their learning site. People also follow courses like on Udemy, which usually has discounts. If I went through the hassle of making an UE story game though, I would use Angelscript, which requires a custom build of UE currently. Getting assets or ripping stuff from another game is a whole different story. You may just want a framework plugin and figure out a Blender pipeline for yourself.

You may also want to dabble in adult modding for Skyrim or Cyberpunk. That might help you in the long run, but the tools aren't going to be the best.

I'm not grumpy, I'm just coded that way.

Unity games are in c# and can be reverted to code, with dnSpy by example; but it's not the only available tool for this.

I'm familiar with all that tech and tutorial resourcing, looking more for completed or half-completed games. Not sure why Angelscript is recommended over Flowgraph but that's not super important right now... I guess copy paste and diff ease.

Not super interested in 3D animating right now, will skip on Blender.

Framework Plugins sound like what I'm after (mainly to jumpstart ahead). Are any of these pirated or any good ones available for free?

Reverting a unity game to code is halfway there, ideally they'd have set up levels or characters I can just start changing to fit my game. Best case scenario someone just has their entire Unreal project uploaded somewhere for free of a half-working or fully working game.

Both Unity and Unreal stores sell templates/projects, you can also find some free ones if you google. However, the problem with that is that you need to adapt yourself to their coding which can be either good, bad, or weird. For something simple, you're better doing it on your own.
