Hello fellow F95zoners,

as a lot of you I have waited patiently for a adult Star Wars game to get going.

As it seams, that is not going to happen anytime soon.
So I started working on a RenPy game in the Starwars universe.

My current (biggest) problem is how to Name the darn Thing.

I would like to have a reckognizable name clearly showing star wars of, but that would be like inviting Disney to sue my ass off.

I hope the more experienced members and game authors can help me to start this project.
Especially as it seams that there are loads of games that are located in well known universes (ok possibly not that much under a strict lawywer watch like star wars)

The current working title is

STAR WARS
Balance of the Force

Please help me get this going.

Curent state:

Character and skill system implemented
working on inventory system

A short playable intro with the introduction of the MC.

The Story starts roughly at 6 BBY and will take you all the way till ™"NOW" possibly leaving you the only left Jedi in the Universe besides Rey.

Here are some example renders that are either allready in the game or on their way in :)

Take a look at PornHub under Star Wars and you'll see a ton of content with Star Wars in the name. Unless you're going to try to sell your game on a service like Steam, I wouldn't worry about it.

You are overthinking it ;) You already have a great workin title:
Balance of the Force
Just don't use Star Wars.
Yeah, Ennoch you actually are right.
Its a flaw of mine that I tend to ovethink stuff.

Balance of the Force It is then :)

Going to upload it in a day or two in the current version, and hope for constructive feedback.
But as said, it is the Intro at the moment and a bit of the starting chapter.
Honestly not much content, as I still am working on a usable Inventory system...

I used to play Star Wars RPG since West End games released their system up to Wizzards of the Coasts take on it in the D20 system. Used to Game Master multiple campaigns, and hope to be able to provide the possibility for the player to make a character they want and that each choice, be it Attribute, Skill, Force Power or Alligment matters in the course of the game.

Maybe a high hurdle for a phyton newb like me but I really want to make something I would like to play, and hope that there is an audience there that shares simmilar tastes.

I'm stuck with DnD 3.5 system and will stick with it forever as my fav but yes, i know how D20 works exactly :) The plus side of it is that you can keep it Pen&Paper style which is a great thing in Ren'Py thats basically a VN engine.

Workin inventory? Why don't you download a few renpy games that have working inventory and analyse how they've done it?

3.5 was definetly the best.
4 sucked and the rest continued the downwards trend.
The skill system took some time doing.
I am still a bit confused by phytons way to handle variables and the definitions of them. But workin on it :)

Glad to see a PnP player arround. Not many left nowadays as it seams.
I hope you download it and like it.

When you are passionate about something or have been so focused on something without a break, things like overthinking tends to happen. For example, an artist or writer, when they make something, they can still see all the small mistakes that keeps the final piece from being exactly what they had envisioned. I often find that if I am creating a new character from scratch it is hard to tell if it even looks good or sexy anymore. I have heard some writers going 6 to 8 months before coming back to read the work. I find if you come back after a while, you forget everything you had planned, so you are able to come with a fresher view and able to see the bigger picture (ie does it look good or not). In your case, its the title.

What are you using for the software by the way? I'm trying to make clone war characters and I am basically at the point of having to make a twi'lek lekku from scratch. You're art looks pretty good by the way :)

Thank you
thats something that probably any developer likes to hear.
Honestly I hate the laser blast effects in the intro scene. But I really had no nerve to try and get them right in gimp.
Gonna leave it this way till the back end is standing on firm footing.
Then the scenes, that I don't like, will get another owerhaul.

Honestly its a whole bunch of software,
for rendering I use Daz3d, the models usually go either trough blender to daz, or i am lucky enough to find a free, or reasonably priced model that meets my quality standards.
In between is usually a headache in gimp, and ocasionally even in paint3d :)
Then finally it ends in renpy :) boil slowly on low temperatures and hope for the best

At the moment i am still on the skill and atribute system. Trying to iron it out.
But I think I'll jump in the cold water, and see if it swimms ;)
Noticed that my current game state runs into open ends, got to remove those so it doesnt end in a error.
Then I am going to release the Intro and the first few scenes of the game.

Dont expect any "real" content at the moment.
But the storyline is set for the first 3 episodes. Now I need to render and get that skill, attribute and inventory system running.

Having a variety of tools to use is promising to see, good to know you can work around the limitations of one program with another. Getting out what you can is good, even tech demos. you don't want to work in the dark because it's easy to lose motivation if you can't share your passion, plus it's fun to see a project keep kicking, I hate wondering when people are dead :p.

While finding quality is nice, I don't know about you but I also want to ensure consistency, eg if one character has a particular UV shape, they all do (and so any makeup design can easily be transferred between characters, even those not yet made). It Sounds like you have a plan. I'm in the "I suck at ideas" phase and "just getting a bunch of assets to final product ready" phase so I can later move to "make example art and see if anyone whats to join me" phase.

Oh, if you want any suggestion about the blaster's beam.

you could just have some red light to illuminate the scene, in another program, gimp or blender, you could make a beam object ( typically just a layer weight effect to blend between two colors of emission). You could do something fancy like adding fog, bloom, motion vector blur, but you just as easily and quickly though it into gimp, feather and delete the edges, make a duplicate layer, apply a motion blur effect on a copy layer, and layer them into the scene with "additive" mode. That usually looks pretty sweet. Or something like that might help.

Yeah,
thanx, there are even whole product lines with specialised brushes and premade effects.

But working with layers is probably the way to go, at least untill I am able to get a photoshop license.
The thing is that my rig can take hours to produce a sattisfying render.
So at the moment I go with SCRUM development guidlines, deliver small pieces, check customer satisfaction, improve.

The current working title is

STAR WARS
Balance of the Force
Sorry I can't resist, it was fun coming up with names.
"The Last Slut, I."
"Jar Jar's Big."
"Tit-Two-Win."
"Some Call Me Darth."
"Want to see my Lightsaber?"

On a more serious note, I rather like "Balance of the Force."

Only serious one I could come up with "Revenge of the Sin."

I believe you have to make your thread in the game request form, follow their format guide, and then an admin will move your thread over to the game forums if it meets our standards. So long as it goes as for as the first tech demo, I think you should be able to qualify. rules can Be found here, but I think the examples are a better way to see how to format https://f95zone.to/threads/game-requesting-rules-2018-august-09.36/
