Instead of doing my Uni homework I've been brainstorming this ero game I want to make, and to give myself some extra motivation to actually make the game I drew up the main character (excluding the player character), her name is Gwenai (Gwen). I wanted her to look dependable and humble while also being kinda slutty, hopefully that's conveyed in her design. She's also a skilled staff-wielder 0_0. Give feedback, or don't, idk. This is pretty early stuff so I'm not sure if I'm really gonna find time to make the game, but I do have a unique idea for gameplay so i'd feel kinda bad if I didn't make it.

I know the feel

Character looks good, both in that it looks like you are an artist, and I do think the character matches what your trying to communicate. It's taken me a long time for any art I make to look like art and not a child's first draft. Nowadays I focus on how fast I can make art. I don't know about you, but just as you can lose motivation to do homework, you can loose motivation on projects if they move too slowly.

don't feel bad, just record and save your notes, type a document, outline you ideas. so that later you can look back on them. maybe you never get to coding, but years later, after dabbling with different projects and ideas, gaining experience, you may find that as you think of ideas, they all start to interconnect. maybe in the future you improve on your idea, and maybe you actually start making more progress again. I've worked on lots of projects, only to get distracted by new shiny ideas and chase those. but recently with everything I've learned, there's no new ideas, only pushing my skills to deliver something, and the only idea good enough is the combination of every project Idea i've made in the past 7 years.

passion, motivation, inspiration, they are a wicked beast.

That character design is great! I hope you get to make your game some day.

What software did you draw it in?

I like the fact that your character is not a 100% slut from the start - far too many games make the heroine the town bicycle from the start without rhyme or reason.

If there is a need to unlock the "ho" side of her, well that's some extra quests and story content that players would likely appreciate. Btw, What game engine are you going to use?

Since you are asking about the game's mechanics, I might as well spill the beans. The concept for my game so far is this:

TLDR My game is about wooing Gwen while trying not to get cucked by a Gremlin, unless that's what you want to happen. It's a weird idea I know, I don't think I've seen a game try to cater to NTR lovers and NTR haters at the same time. It's also unique in the sense that you could if you want to play the game so that the only erotic content is implied sex.

So to answer your first question, sexual tension is a big part of the game. Meaning regardless of path the scenes will start off neutral, gradually go softcore, then get more hardcore as the game progresses. Since Gwen will probably be the only female character in it, a lot of the story will be focused on her gradual shift in personality and relationship. BUT if you read the whole concept you will also know that to actually win over Gwen there will be some challenging gameplay segments you need to master as well.

In terms of game engine, GameMaker Studio 2 is the one I am most familiar with, so I will go with that to start. However, since that engine may not be entirely friendly towards ero games, I will switch to Godot or Unity if GMS2 gets fussy..

When it comes to progress, since my original post I have written a good amount of dialogue, and I've also worked on some more concept art. But everything is still in pre-production, no actual work on the game yet. The game mechanics will be relatively simple, I suspect the main bulk of the time spent will be the artwork. If I can I will try to make the art semi-animated too. Outside of the combat-puzzle gameplay it will mostly feel like a visual novel.

You have a nice set-up for the game. Tension path is spot on. Vanilla path is also a welcome addition.

You are also right in choosing to focus on art. Too many game devs bite more of a gameplay than they can chew and forget the game was about porn.[/spoiler]
