Will the person who sent the message to Riley in school with the picture lead to a new Blackmail path? I hope so, very looking forward to that one.
There is one blackmail path that is already over.
I doubt there will be much more (if any) blackmail in the rest of the game. Fooxied is aware that some players (myself included) see it as very close to rape, so gave options to limit it.
Dean is a separate case, because his story path included blackmail, which some people might see as similar to rape. I understand that this could really upset some players. Even though his path turns out to be very different from what it first seems, I still decided to give players the option to limit it.
Because of that, if there is further blackmail, it'd almost certainly be optional, and any optional content is obviously less efficient in terms of development time.

There r a lot who like Blackmail though (myself included) since it's one of the more popular tags, so making it optional would be best rather then eliminate it entirely just to please another side who aren't into it.

What they meant is that there was already an existing blackmail storyline that at one point became optional because it's not to everybody's liking and, being easily considered as forcing/raping, makes it something not most of us want to experience willingly in games, at least for long. So, adding yet another blackmail path with the pure intention of making it optional from the beginning might seem like a waste of resources when there are other things that take priority as of now. Furthermore, the Dean story is still ongoing, no matter how willing you think your Riley is, or how exciting she finds certain situations, you still have his authoritative figure taking advantage of his position over her, so adding a similar storyline on top of that one seems kind of repetitive. Plus, there are a bunch of fetishes or stuff that haven't been thoroughly explored in the game or haven't even been tackled, so I'm assuming that having more blackmail in the game seems pretty unlikely.

I really hope you are wrong, blackmail in a VN is super popular. I never understand people who want to associate a fantasy VN with real life and an "authoritative figure taking advantage of his position" to real life. Maybe just exclude games with the Blackmail tag so you never have to be subjected to them.

For example I exclude the "gay" and "vore"tags, when I do a search I guarantee you will not find one thread on F95 that has me whining about gay or vore in a title. It seems like a level of maturity to exclude the titles you don't want to play versus the alternative.

Like I said, the game already has blackmail, and Fooxied already explained why he made that path optional at a certain point, that's why I emphasized the reasons why it is unlikely that another blackmail storyline appear. In no shape or form I implied with my message that blackmail shouldn't exist in this game just because I, for instance, don't like it. I understand why it's there, it fits the theme and genre, but it's also important in a game like this to expand a bit on other stuff. There are a bunch of FMC games with an overuse of corruption and blackmail, and I get the feeling that Fooxied wants to innovate in that regard. I might have my issues with the lack of control you have in the game, but one of the reasons why I started playing it was because I knew it offered a certain variety.

Also, each player has their particular limits and thresholds that are totally respectable. Just because it's fiction or fantasy and we're not directly subjected to the things being depicted, doesn't mean that we might not feel uncomfortable or end up disliking it at some point. However, blackmail is not a tag that I exclude like NTR or swinging, because sometimes you might not now how it's included in the game and what it might entail. But like I said, I just explained how me and other players might feel about blackmail, I don't think there was any whining in that regard, and less a lack of maturity. Nonetheless, I'm always open to read any constructive criticism if my message came off wrong, there's no shame in that.

Wait, so you don't like blackmail, but you won't exclude it from a search, because sometimes you might not know how it's included in the game? What? lol my dude there us only one way those tags you described are included in games by the very definition of their kinks. Let me guess if they're optional it's okay, but you'll choose the vanilla path. This sounds like flirting with cocaine. If I just take a bump I'm not really an addict!
Can't wait for reply full of denial and sophistry. At least the rest of us are honest about our kinks and aren't pretending we're something we're not.

I actually played through the whole Dean route, followed that path instead of ending the blackmail, even though I despise the guy, the story is very interesting with that layer of complexity. And thinking that this type of content is always the same seems like a narrow-minded view, because we also need to take into account who perpetrates said blackmail and how the affected party will take it afterwards. In here, for instance, Riley ends up having an interesting dynamic with the Dean, opens up different possibilities with Madison (who's also an interesting character to mingle with), and overall adds more flair to the Cheating route. So, in the end, you could argue that Riley ends up benefitting to some degree in this exchange. However, there are blackmail storylines in which you're simply forced to do x stuff and you never get something in return, so it's pretty much one-sided. That's the reason why I won't exclude that tag even though there might be times when I'm not comfortable with it. Like you said, sometimes one might opt to avoid it or to explore it up until a certain degree, but if I exclude it I might end up not knowing about certain games that might deal with blackmail differently.

It's not really an unusual position for them to take. I dislike blackmail, netorare, and cheating in general, for example. There's plenty of times I've started a game with one of those tags though where that type of content is easy to 100% avoid or it's an important part of a backstory/flashback and I've ended up loving the game. I'd have completely missed it however if I always excluded those tags.

Same for me. I don't like those either and if they are in a game, I don't care so long as they are on their own path.

There are FMC games that even don't have those tags when it's new but ofc people start with how about you add corruption, cheating, prostitution, incest, pregnancy your game will be better persuading Devs into adding what they want. Yes, the majority of users are pestering Devs with adding their kinks and say how it's just an idea, just a suggestion. We are gone from what is avoidable to add what I want.

In this instance though. Blackmail was in the game from the start and now it's more some going to the Dev "Hey you shouldn't have this in your game, because I don't like it."
