Project Progress and Upcoming Surprises

Hey there!
We've had a pretty busy time lately, and I'm really happy with how things are going. I also have some updates for you from different angles – but let’s start with Steps of Debauchery.
We decided to expand the main story a bit with a new side plot and add more depth to some of the existing scenes. This means the game will be bigger – but in a good way! You’ll get more of Riley, without unnecessary filler. And don’t worry – all of this will be part of the base game. If you’re already supporting us or bought the game on Steam, you’ll get everything included.
New scenes are coming along smoothly, and I’m really happy with our progress. They’re much larger than before – for example, early scenes had around 70–100 renders, but now some go over 300 renders and include lots of animations. So yes, they take longer to make, but they feel much more immersive and natural.
At the same time, we’re working on a cool DLC. It’s not just a short bonus – it will be a fully developed story. I can’t tell you when it’s coming or what it will include (it’s a surprise!), but trust me, it’s something special. Just thinking about it puts a smile on my face.
Last thing – we’re supporting a new project as a publisher! It’s a game called Exploring the Big Apple by SadPepper, where you’ll play as Emma, the main character. If you like Steps of Debauchery, you’ll probably enjoy this one too!
We helped with proofreading, translations into 7 languages, a new UI, achievements, and some extra features to improve the game. Like with Bright Lord, the original animations, renders, and story all stay true to the creator’s vision. Also, all the extra work was done by people we specifically hired for that project – so it hasn’t slowed down the development of SoD in any way.
The game is already visible on Steam and will be available for purchase in early Q4 2025. Feel free to add it to your wishlist now – it’ll be worth it!

That’s all for today’s update. I’m heading back to work on Episode 5.0 – which is already shaping up to be one of my favorites :)

Remind me.. didn't ETBA catch quite a bit of flak for being rushed to completion in the end? I never really got around to finishing the game, but after reading the initial feedback, I kind of shelved it for later.

Oh well, everything else seems to be on track so, all good.

So, just polishing Exploring the Big Apple? Kinda confused as to what they will be publishing. If they secured the rights to the game and going to improve the animations and add some extra scenes, it could be interesting. SadPepper has some great older games as well ripe for updating/improving. This will be interesting to see the result.

Getting an AVN published on Steam can be a pretty involved and time-demanding process. I've actually seen one or two other devs reach out to others with more experience preparing a game for Steam to act as a consultant or publisher. It sounds mostly like quality control, translation, and UI improvements were added outside of that.

Oh gotcha. Didn’t realize it wasn’t on steam already. Now that makes sense.

Yeah, the game has a store page on Steam where it can be wish-listed, but we sounds like there's prep work they want to do before launching it for sale later this year.

Ironically, I'm like... 80% through a first time playthrough of it over the last week or so. Sounds like I should have just waited. :ROFLMAO:

It was a disappointing game for me.

I'm curious about DLC. What could be new I wonder? A side character story or an introduction to the sequel.

If I were a betting man, I'd assume it's a holiday DLC. That typically seems the case for a lot of AVNs that don't want to detract from their main story so they add a Christmas DLC or a Halloween DLC. Then again people are theorizing the new release to hit in September. So maybe it won't be.

I'd prefer that if it's going to be a DLC for the game, I'd like it to be with a character we already know. I'm hoping it's not a VR thing and I'd rather have a story involving Madison, Ivy, or Blaze's mom.

You should try A Perfect Marriage by Mr.Palmer, for me that story plot was the best.
I haven't fully played that one yet and some of it but that game is a weird one for me. I have no desire to corrupt or make the FMC / MC cheat in that one on my main save. I find it more fun to go against the theme of the game and keep them faithful tho will do cheating paths at some point.

Who needs more choices, there is always a choice, and if there are scenes with a character, then if you miss them, there will be less content, well, it's not always nice that the work would disappear, I give a guide on how to make a choice, if you have a scene in front of you that you don't like, that you just press the text skip button and wait for the end of the scene, so there is always a choice. It definitely works and is more effective than asking for the game to be changed according to your desires
