Episode 5.0 - current progress

Hey there!

It's been a few days, so it's the perfect time to share a quick update on what we've been working on. As usual, let's start with some visuals:

1753441232513.png

As you can see, the scripts, meaning the written content, dialogues, and all that, are almost done. All scenes are already planned out. We might still add a few extra things like achievements, but overall, this part should be fully finished by next week.

On the programming and testing side, we’ve added a few new features and, more importantly, fixed all previously reported bugs. Some of you have issues launching the game on Steam, that’s because of a recent Ren’Py update (which is the engine most AVNs are made with). Luckily, there’s already a solution posted on the forum, so check it out if you're having problems!

Now, for the biggest and most time-consuming part: renders. We’ve completed about 30% of the upcoming update, which will likely have the most animations we've ever done. At the same time, we're also working on the previously mentioned DLC, which should also come out this year. Things are going smoothly now. We’ve already created the biggest and most difficult scenes, so everything should move even faster from here.

Writing this made me realize how much we’ve actually accomplished - especially considering it’s only been a month since the last update! I’m not ready to give a release date for Episode 5.0 just yet /anything can happen/ but we’re aiming for October. Maybe sooner, maybe later. It’s still too early to say for sure. What I can say is that you’ll definitely enjoy what we have in store for you this year.

That’s all for now! If you haven’t already, please consider leaving a review on Steam and adding Exploring the Big Apple to your wishlist (you can find info about it in the last devlog).

I’m leaving a few renders as always - talk to you soon and have a great weekend!

Coming up next:

Riley - Exciting Affection :KEK:
Not gonna happen because....the "Exciting Affections" of our lovely A. has choices...where you can actually influence the Story. Shocking....i know. This is a hard no go for this Dev. He s more a friend of "guided clicking" instead of choices. Maybe you can expect another clickable comic after this one is finished..

even that one has some forced scenes where I didn't expect certain choices to lead to forced content with said character later in the story. Yeah it's still choice base but those scenes due to how those choices were handled were disappointing tho granted it's only like 3 maybe 4 scenes for S2

Sorry...i overlooked your post. First of all...i don t think that your Game is shit, or that you are a "bad" developer. What bothers me the most....is the partially wasted potential of your Game.

Okay, let's unpack YOUR argument, shall we? It's a classic case of "we're limited by our resources, so you're limited by our vision." Which, while understandable on a practical level, is also a bit... well, lazy. No offence."If you let the player skip all the sexual scenes, the story won't make sense!" Oh, Fooxied, if your story relies solely on the sexual content to convey the "corruption" of a character, then you've got bigger problems than player choice. Corruption, at its core, is about moral decay, a gradual erosion of values. You can show that through actions, dialogue, internal conflict, and the consequences of those actions. You don't need a graphic gangbang to illustrate that someone is losing their way. (Although, admittedly, it seems to be a popular shortcut!) ;)

The "alternative path" argument? Yes, creating branching narratives is more work. It requires more writing, more art, and more planning. But that's also what makes a game good. It's what makes it engaging.:) It's what makes it feel like the player's choices actually matter. Saying "it's too much work" is basically admitting that you're prioritizing expediency over quality. It's like a chef saying, "I could make a gourmet meal, but it's easier to just microwave a frozen dinner." And the grand finale: "If we added endless choices, we'd never get it done!" Ah, the classic "we're saving you from ourselves" defense. It's true, scope creep is a real threat in game development. But "endless choices" is a straw man argument. No one is asking for an infinite multiverse of possibilities. SOME of us are asking for meaningful choices that allow us to shape Riley`s journey in a way that resonates with us.

So, here's my comeback, delivered with a wink :

I understand the limitations, truly...and, i can t stress this enough...i am not your enemy and i don t want to trashtalk your Game. But perhaps instead of focusing on the quantity of content, you could focus on the quality of the choices. Maybe instead of five different ways to get Riley naked, you could give us one really compelling reason to make a difficult moral decision. You might be surprised how far a little bit of depth can go. And hey, if you're worried about 'milking' the project, remember that a well-crafted game with replay value is a lot more lucrative than a mediocre one that everyone forgets about after a single playthrough. Just food for thought! (And maybe a dash of creative inspiration.)" ;) In short: Don't sacrifice substance for speed. A little bit of player agency can go a long way in making a game memorable, even if it means a few extra sleepless nights for the development team. After all, a truly corrupting experience is one that stays with you long after the game is over. And that's not something you can achieve with just a few lines of code and a handful of pre-rendered scenes. :giggle: Not judging...just my opinion.

Let's say you make your own game first and let us play it for free, which you will spend 4 months developing the first version, and we will look at it, and then you will pour crap on it or whatever else to say, you are an amateur, I see, you are just lying and that's all.

The school renders has me speculating. I'm excited. Potentially it could be a blackmail scene where one of the jocks figured out she's been with the Dean, or the Dean set it up and will partake in it, or maybe it's a blackmail scene where Miguel or someone else comes in and rescues her. Blowbang would be my preferred but I'm excited regardless.

Confused. I finished (I *believe*) all there was in 4.1, downloaded 4.2, loaded save, and can't find anything to do. Is there a pathway to activity I am missing??
