There are many excellent games now. If I were born 30 years later, maybe the games would be even different. But I am now 20 years old, which means I have only 40 years to continue playing pornographic games. God, there must be amazing works at that time, but I can't play them. Have you ever thought of this?
Poor unsatisfied baby.
Will games be different in 30 years ?
Of course they will, at least I hope. I can't believe that everyone will just be satisfied by the sole quality increase and integration of the new technologies (like VR by example). But to be fair, it's been more or less twenty years that they are only looking in that direction, and the more time pass, the less hope I have. Games cost so much nowadays, that no studio really take the risk to innovate and change the rules.
And if they continue like this, well, you aren't born too early, you are born too late.
10yo me wouldn't have dreamed of nowadays games, and 20yo me believed that video games reached their peak.
But well, 10yo me globally only had pac mac, while 20yo me was amazed by Doom (the original). You have no idea how marvelous it was to travel through those years, to see, for the sole 3D part, Wolfenstein 3D (again the original) bring 3D into video games, Doom (still the original) add shapes to this 3D, and Half Life (the first) break the walls, and decors.
Honestly, I haven't found a game that amazed me this much since Half Life. Of course, nowadays games are marvelous, but there isn't a single one that is really mind blowing outside of the race to the highest quality.
Oh, by the way, 51yo me expect to be still playing the day he'll die, and I intent to live at least 50 more years.
