Is there anyway around this rape scene? There's little that turns me off so much than being in the pov of a pushover that likes to be rapped by women. Being virgin is not an excuse to be a doormat.
I will say the person you're quoting, while not wrong, does have a stronger than normal reaction to it.
The MC is by no means what I'd call a doormat. (Anyone who has seen Shizuku's ending could attest to that. The man kind of has balls of steel for all the endings.)
The rape scene(s) are done in a way where they're sort of bordering consensual non-consent, where the MC is literally stated to be able to get up and leave at any time at the start of the game if he ever felt uncomfortable with anything or like his consent wasn't being respected.
It's weird, and I don't deny it's weird, but it's basically just an excuse to start sex scenes as soon as possible even though you're not supposed to have the "ability" unlocked to have sex yet.
It's literally just the first few scenes with Ayano and Shizuku, I recommend starting it and making your own judgement, as they're not...played for the "rape" if that makes any sense?
I do understand it being a complete deal breaker for those very sensitive to situations where consent is ambiguous, but once you get to the mid-late game, it drops those ideas entirely as the girls try to communicate more honestly.
Since the MC DOES show so much of a backbone in some later scenes, you could debatably interpret them as the protagonist letting the girls indulge themselves in a fantasy.
But yeah, my best advice is to try it, see if it's entirely intolerable to you (I will say the first scene you get is the most egregious example of this and then it tapers off as more normal relationships form), and if you just can't get past those early scenes or that initial sour taste, don't force yourself.
I will say that the later half of the game is much better, and I'd almost prefer it if there were no sex scenes in the early game at all, because it IS admittedly such a poor excuse for H-scenes that it acts like a choke point preventing people from getting into what would otherwise be a very vanilla and light-hearted visual novel with some basic gameplay mechanics.
