VN - Ren'Py - Summer's Gone [S1 Steam + DLC] [Oceanlab]

Great game! I appreciate that the author is taking his time with making the game and it has blossomed into something very special. The only thing i'm worried about is that the author takes too much time to release the next update.

Definitely worth the try and would 100% support this mans patreon in the hopes that he will release updates more frequently.

What a jump in quality from .1 to .2! Definitely worth the wait and even better content is being worked on from the hardworking Ocean.

Characters are impressively lively. I found myself gravitating towards folk I normally wouldn't and that's soley due to the excellent writing and characterization.

Renders are great and getting even better. There are a few surprising cutscenes mixed in that add so so much to making the game more of an experience than your standard Renpy game.

One of the best games I played so fa. Plot is really good, has a unique atmosphere. Characters are complex, quite believable and interesting. The good thing is, basically all of them. Visuals are stunning, but that is not always someting which mees a good game. This is the first VN where I have read through all dialogues and did not us the skip button. Even without fap material in its current state it is masterfully done.
A really nice gesture on the devs side is, that poeple are warned about current blueball content. Quite considerate. I can hardly wait for the next version.

so far so beautiful. i gotta say i am very picky in rating stuff. i hope the def keeps up the beautiful build up of these characters, and all their shells. sadly no real sex scene but it was announced so.. very good very good indeed. i hope u keep that up and even without scenes this was long enough to get me into it. something like knowing which path leads to where would be nice, like when u dont agree to the date and stuff, but its really to early to say. keep going you earned a supporter. i Hope work is a passion project and will be finished in the same quality, but you have my thumbs up for earning your piece of the pie for patreons increase.

Great start, good story (only a couple cringe worthy lines) Super impressed with the imagery. The renders are fantastic (except the basketball it looks like an orange with human skin), over did it with some where a single render would work for a scene. but all the renders are next level. No real complaints keep up the good work.

The story is solid and the renders (mostly) look really nice. There are some very interesting strong characters, but also some mumbo-jambo on the basketball court - for which I really have to discount a star as well, I just find it ridiculous and tedious.
This one is a sloooooow burn and I hope to see some results for my choices soon.

This is a game focused more on the story and has erotic elements and nudity, instead of the other way around. As is warned by the "blueball police warning" when you start a new game.
It's good to go into the game with that mindset and it helps you really enjoy it for what it is, instead of just being a pornfest.

pro's:
-Great renders
-Interesting story
-Character depth: they all feel like they have their own personality and issues in life.

con's:
-not a whole lot of erotic content yet, but as I said earlier I dont really see this as a problem, but it's still important to mention.

a 5/5 stars and a must try for anyone who's looking for something new.

fabulous game, beautiful characters. In love with bella e mila, I can't wait to see how it goes on, the dramatic tone of the story is perfect.
I really appreciate the relationship between Nami and the MC, I don't think I will push him towards greater intimacy, it would be nice to have a true sister-brother relationship instead of the usual incestuous sex, after all there are many possible love relationships that you can give up a of these.
I find infamous (in the good sense of the term, sorry, but I'm Italian and therefore I tend to literally translate our ways of saying) the fact that each LI has a story so tragic behind it that makes it impossible for you to leave them knowing how much they would suffer. Really good work, I hope you continue.

A really promising game, simply one of the best start for an adult VN.
The characters have depth, the story is intriging and I can't wait to see how it will evolve.
It quickly became my most anticipated game.

Edit : The girls bodies are from magazines with fake boobs and except for the sister I dislike all of them. There is too much girls and the dev keep adding new ones, all looking the same, while the releases take a really long time, if it keep like this, we'll never get a finished game, it may take decades or more. Hopefully, there won't be a rework that will change the sister to another bimbo, like they did to their other game.

Edit 2 : this game is sinking, it's the titanic made by dr Frankenstein and it's obvious that the dev is milking it's patrons

This is really one of the most outstanding games I have played here. The graphics were very good, the story was engaging, and there were enough player choices to keep me involved. I really look forward to further updates of this one. There's no sex yet, but the women characters are very beautiful.

Just finished the 2nd chapters and here are my thoughts:

This is seriously one of the most beautiful games on this site with unique characters design.
The messaging app is a nice touch compared to all the clicking and "space" that we have for Ren'Py games.

There are two problems that I have with this game at the moment are the lack of background music for most parts and introducing too many characters at once.

This has been a very enjoyable game so far
You can really see that the developer has put a lot of effort into making it. Story is well thought out and not just one random sexual encounter after the other. It made me not want to skipp the text and that says a lot about the story. Characters are very likeable and the visuals look very good. Would definately recommend to give it a try.

Well I don't usually post reviews.
It's the first time i'm conflicted in "rating" a game.

I remembered played the first chapter few months ago and "throw it away" because I didn't like the "forced trying to kill someone".

I replayed it after seen someone on another games topics talking about it and well thanks to this guy because I actually liked the chapter 2.

Now let's discuss about different things :
Rendering :
- Girls are well rendered but I admit I begin to "hate" seeing in each game the same hair. I know they all use the same software and it's maybe not cheap and easy to find another kind of hair but well. In the contrary, I really love the faces, sometimes it seems to have "too much forced" mood (Like smile which looks weird) but otherwise they're really beautiful. It's always nice too see games with good looking girls / renders.

But renders isn't the only important things, because I liked some games which have bad render but good content & good story.

This brings me to the final point.

Content & Story :
The story seems to be good but the fact that the game begins with a "bad MC" was reluctant to me. But after that we understand that he is just a "depressive" guy after a loss (the killing thing seems to be gone in the story)
It also seems to have few paths so that's a good thing.

Now i'm just sad that it's lack of content (I don't really care that there's no sex because I prefer the story in the VNs in general).
But that's normal because its only the chapter 2.

I hope the developper will get more money and maybe a day could live with it (so he could be faster but I don't judge it's already perfect)

EDIT : There's a lot of miswriting (i think, because i'm not english xd) like "I knod", or some letters being inverted, for example being => "bieng")

So, if someone that likes good story like some of the populary games, go for it. It's worth it

The art is fantastic, and the story and characters are pretty good so far.
It's got both funny and touching moments. And I say this well aware that it's a porn game.
About the porn..It's not a lot of it yet, in chapter two. Some nude scenes. But no sex scenes yet. But that will come, and I'm fine with waiting for it, when the game is this good otherwise.

Previously with Chapter 1, I wasn't THAT impressed with the game. However, now with the second chapter, I can seriously say that I am very much impressed rather awed by the creativity and uniqueness of the story. It is quite a big achievement to have any chapter of a game without any sexual scenes to captivate the audience/player. Having 2 chapters without any and also making the audience/player begging for more is a milestone set and this is what this game is. Moreover, I'd say that I see and immense potential in this game.

One thing recommended by me to the dev is DO NOT OVERTAX YOURSELF and make this project a chore for yourself but definitely set certain timelines for yourself but keep them to yourself.

No offense to any other devs.

Summers Gone is an incredible offering, and I don't remember being this hopeful for a game to continue on quite like I am for this one.
The artwork is simply unsurpassed....beautiful, clean, just fantastic. The women are all gorgeous, and there are a plethora of them.
The story is slowly unwinding, and showing a lot of depth and compelling plot lines. There are a few typos along the way, but by no means distracting enough to seriously complain.
As the author mentions, this game is not about a quick roll in the sack....a LOT of slow burn set up, teasing, hints of future fun, and a good bit of mystery along the way. But the artwork of the beautiful girls (including tasty MILFs and luscious younger babes) makes up for it. If you enjoy a slow burn, this game will totally scratch that itch....and holds loads of hints that it will scratch all the other itches in the not too distant future.
So I highly recommend checking this one out, and joining me in supporting the creator.
Because I really want to see more of this fantastic offering.

Brilliant game! Not only the characters are pretty realistic, with all the emotions and mental problems going around in the world, but also the models used are amazing. Nice and slow story build-up with enough moments of sharp inhaling cause a certain story climax is reached ... enough hints for future development are included in the game. Almost all of the characters have their flaws but also their sympathetic moments which I find really subtle. Hope this project will go on and on and on .... until it will be finished with some nice and satisfying endings.

The game has great potential, the content so far is pretty good, the story has a good flow and has dialogue choices and some branches which impact the story events instead of just minor dialogue changes, the characters arent one dimensional and have distinct personalities, the visuals, especially the renders and character design in this game are very well done. The writing while for the most part is good, has minor personal annoyances for me like the MC's mental trauma portrayed in a cringe-like emo depression talk but it was mostly at the beginning of the game and seems to get better handled further into the story, other than that really enjoyed the game and wish the best to the dev in further development of the game.


Edit: Mixed feelings about the remake and how to even rate this game after it, especially since I had to use the fan mod so it would make more sense.

The character appearance change is subjective and I liked it fine and so was making the dialogue less edgy and cringe. The censorship though, like the roommate stuff which doesn't make sense at all with MC's "not sister" story arch/romance (especially since it's obvious they are not related as is) the cut story scenes that the mod also restores which make the story flow and character introduction more coherent and other such things are very weird and questionable decisions by the dev, even if considering he made them to fit the steam release requirements.

With the mod, it was an overall good experience so I suggest using the cut content restoration mod. Dont know if the dev will ever fix it, but hopefully, the second season will be less of a mess since I find this game interesting.

I think my problem with crap MC's is well documented on here by now.

I don't have that problem here.

Sure the MC has issues but he lost someone close to him and it broke him, as it would a lot of people in that situation.

We start playing a guy that went through a traumatic event and gave up and now we're seeing him trying to pick up the pieces and rebuild.

Most of the main girls also seem to have their own issues you will be able to help each other through depending on choices.

The biggest stand out for me was the character that starts as your typical rich blonde bitch. Turns out she's got major issues and despite being insane is kinda nice in her own way once you start breaking through her walls.

This is erotic fiction though, not a "porn game".

Just amazing. It's kind of shocked me to be honest. It's one of the best games, definitely the best one set in a school life and it's still early days.

A lot of great characters. Everyone comes to life like they're actually there and all the personalities mix together well whether they get along or they don't. It quickly shows you the dynamic between most of the characters and the game doesn't fck around with it either. It let's you know what's up. The basketball scene alone is quite impressive as it shows off a lot of the personalities and how they clash together in a very entertaining way all during a single game. A lot of the intrigue is due in part to the mental theme of the game where most seem to be saddled with "something" even the most cheerful and positive of characters and it's crushing them emotionally and it makes a point to show you how all of them deal with it in their on ways and why it causes tension between certain characters.

Last thing that comes to mind is how well the characters interact with and affect the MC who is himself quite an interesting character. He's a very troubled kid who's a recluse with a depressing persona but not in an overbearing kind of way and whether it's the underprivileged Mila, the crippled sweetheart Victoria or the MC's psychotic kindred spirit Bella. They appeal to different sides of him both the good and bad, both of which seem to help him in different ways with the former two doing so in an optimistic and positive way, helping the MC rediscover an empathetic/compassionate side of himself (last scene of this update with Victoria was especially touching/insightful) and the latter, Bella serving as a reflection for the MC's darker side which allows him to understand his own problems the more he gets to know her. Well at least that's my take on it.

The game's a bit rough here and there but which game isn't? As with almost all forms of fiction you're going to need some suspension of disbelief, but for what this game offers I would say it delivers beautifully. So yeah ... fantastic, insightful game and I know it sounds like a very dark game but it's also pretty funny. I can say more great things about it but this should do it. Give this game a go, if it continues like this then I can only see it getting better.
