I mean, DC has never claimed meantal health issues and the only real "emergencies" I recall, where his wife giving birth and the the fact that he suddenly had his 3 small kids at home during covid, when everything was shut down.
Getting a cold from time to time (at an above average rate) is something that happens, when you've got kids that age. It's strange, that some poeple seem to think, that someone would work 6 years straight without taking a vacation or without ever having any issues at all. With that kind of expectation it's not really a surprise, that some devs are actually getting mental issues.

Managing your own expectations is crucial once you give money on patreon, but sadly that's something many people just aren't capable of. They suddenly start to act, like they are paying him 60k a month, when in reality the average patron spends about $2.50, while most will give $1. A full year of subscribing to DC costs less than 2 coffees at Starbucks...

Nothing in my posts where directed at DC. Everything past my first sentence was me talking abouts other devs. I was just voicing the concerns some people have with devs who work to long on an update. some people just got burned one to many times. a goliath example for that would be ICSTOR.
As for your other point, true $12 isnt much at the end of the year, but wouldnt you have rather given them to someone who actually gives a fuck.
Im just saying that one giant of an apple spoilt the bunch and now everybody has trust issues. i for example started to support the devs once after every update after seing the quality for myself. true i dont get the benefits of seing the posts in the development phase but at this point i dont give a damn. and if everybody would have done that i can guarantee that all those 8-12 month long updates would be done in 2.

In other words, why would he finish the game, when he could just quit and go work on something else which almost guarantee, for the same skillset, would provide him with a much lower income and likely reduced autonomy?

you do understand that if you just say "oh its just 12$ a year, why do you care" then there is no helping you.. If you have any clue about life in general you would know that bad behavior should not be rewarded ffs, the development started 2016.....its 2023 now.. for this amount of time you could have made at least 3 games...
and no this is not hating on DC for milking the shit out of this game, kudos to him he is doing something me and a lot of people would love to be able to do.. but for me the problem is that, as a user id like a product to be finished in a reasonable time. this and some other devs are taking the piss. this sort of game could be done in 2 years max, without any crunch time

Ill be honest id make it so that he only gets access to 50% of the cash until he finishes the game...

You may have to talk to Jack Conte about that. Patreon was set up as a patronage website, a place for people to support artists in their endeavors. When you're a patron, you're not buying a product, you're supporting an artist.

If you want to start your own system that holds 50% of contributor money and all the record keeping and other paperwork that would entail, more power to you.

He could have made 3 average games. But then, what's even the point, if all his games one can expect to be in the same style? Just for the sake of a different title? The game already has a ton of content, and I don't see the point of developing something else when he can just keep expanding the same universe.

What is your area of expertise to be able to declare, with such a degree of assurance, how long such a project is supposed to take?

Although I'd obviously prefer more updates, I hope he just keeps adding content to this game, than start a new one any time soon.

I thinks people are just afraid that the dev is falling into the common trend of farming patreons and then sit back and let the money roll in. Im not saying cookie is doing that im just speaking out of experience.
Devs just go radio silent and after 8 months to a year release an update that at most required 2 months to make.
I dont think people who dont support the creator have a right to complain but for supporters something like that fells like a slap to the face, again speaking out of experience.
The longer the dev takes to update the game to higher the expectations get and if their not met people get disappointed even if the update is great.
Then the dev gives some excuse about mental health and family deaths and expects everyone to ignore the 60 buckeronies they paid for 5 hours of content.

Here's the deal, there are barely any supporters here, yet the bitching has gone through the roof in these past few months. So clearly people who don't any stake in this bar the furious need to rub one out do think they have a right to complain. And to those I say: look for another game to fap to. This entire website is full of them.

Also don't most patrons pay like 5 buckeroos per month to support him? That's not exactly bankrupting anyone. Sure those that like 50 or 60 bucks might feel that way, but the average patron pays far less than they do for all the others bills that want for payment every month.

And I don't know about any mental health issues or whatever on DCs side. See, I don't have time to keep up with devs 24/7, and I'm legit suggesting some people here should try to work on that too. That might actually be good for their mental health, because at this point it feels like downright obsession.

But I gave him less money than I made while I was in the bathroom at work, so he owes me 6 hours of new content per month!

It's one of those Schrodinger's Games. It's finished, in that the main story is done, and it will never be finished, in that they will never stop adding new girls and scenes for existing girls. But yeah, I agree that I hope it's never finished from the perspective of development ending.

Newbie? says the guy from 2019... Its guys like you the reason there are a lot of unfinished and quick money grab games. Its a fact he gets 50k a month, its a fact cookie claims the coding is behind and not the art work. So let me tell you something, with 50k a month he could literally hire a small team of python coders to catch up with his art work, but do you know why he wont do it? because he gets more money like this over the years, its simple math. You can spend your money however you want, but you are feeding a parasite that its becaming a trend in other devs.

I feel it's an excuse that reveals a lot about DC, he's been so successful that if he ever sees his subs are dropping, he will be able to quickly set stuff up and then release another "Not" Tech update and he will have a another batch of people that will wait with baited breath for another 3 months to a year. He's more or less set for life at this point and it's because he's able to milk his product for as long as possible and success has made his fans addicted to his work.

Honestly it's better to have a lot of games to be playing instead of being laser focused to a few or one even.

That's a nice list of games you have. I personally play The Headmaster, What a Legend and of course Summertime Saga. You are missing Princess Trainer, Witch Trainer, Porn Empire, Wicked Rouge, Rouge Like, Harem Hotel and Lab Rats 1/2 if I am looking right.

My most recent discovery, however, is Fallout 4 with Advanced Animation Framework and Family Planning Enhanced installed. Best porn game ever, plus epic story.

I personally don't use FO4 for lewd stuff but it's genuinely crazy what you can do with modding in that game.
