As far as I'm concerned for me the game finished in 0.20.16. Most of the characters I was interested had their routes finished by then anyway.

Wow! Debbie still?? And the art is not even for the upcoming update but for a next release? More than a year with basically one character!! My god, someone introduce the word work to DC!!
I did some rough calculations and it would basically take approximately 9 years to finish the "tech update".
However, I recalculated thinking they were updating the story with 2 characters per year, which would give them about 50 years to update everything.
But apparently it's 1 character per year, which gives them approximately more than 100 years to update the entire story.
If things continue at this pace, even the developers won't be alive by the time all the characters are finished.
Wait what happened, I decided to come back to play the finished product and now there's a tech upgrade and the game regressed in content? Am I getting this right?

Last time it was "a few days" now its simply "soon". He should just admit that he can't keep with own update schedule and drop the the two months per update cycle claims . The content added is so little and inconsistent so it doesn't even matter. I think all so at this point is obvious that the coder can't keep up with the art. DC has time to draw extra in form of wallpapers and "future" art but the update itself still is not ready. He needs a better coder or an other one to help if the work load is too much. Or at least DC can make the update timer on his site to run in negative for shit and giggles.

Good game. My first entry into the type, and I don't think I'm unique there. At time sad, heartwarming, strange, and sweet. Has a bit of everything.
In one of the last streams, DC said there will not only be Debbie stuff in the upcoming update, but also - lo and behold - reintegrated main story content.

The times we've had delays in these Debbie updates is because DC has yet to finish drawing something essential. Art production is the bottleneck.
Why is he wasting time doing wallpapers and art for future updates when the update is due then ?! I still think its the coder. I opened the game files and there is some art in there not even used yet. So i don't think its the art , not even DC will just draw stuff he doesn't need yet , when the actual update art is lagging. All so it was the coder last update who was complaining how people don't appreciate the amount of coding work he had done.

Funny people start blaming 1 person.. the coder is bottleneck? Who progress is a giant bottleneck.. the problem is that, this game has been in development for years, should've figured out some kind of streamline of work or smth, but guess what, money flows, who cares, lets do whatever we want, whenever we want.. DC makes wallpapers because he wants to, not because he has to or has time to do it. Just simply that. He got comfortable, no motivation to succeed.. because he already did.. why try if you think you reached the top. But in reality, he's just mid when it comes to real success. If you were to finish STS and post it on steam, you'd be not only rich, but your name would be respected.. Now he's just know as Lazy cookie.. I wonder why.

DC will absolutely draw stuff he doesn't need yet. He does it all the time on the regular. He seemingly gets distracted and draws random characters in the nude that aren't planned for updates in the next century. There's also a bunch of backgrounds for locations that he made during his year and a half tech update vanishing act, that still aren't being used, that are a testament to this.
If you want to see a time where the coder was really the main bottleneck, go back to the Doggeek coder era. DC would finish the art for an update, then 2 months would pass before it was released. That's a coder causing a bottleneck.
If the art in the game files is what I think you're referring to, it's probably remnants of old art. There's bits of it in there that I've seen posted here as "unused new art".
I'm not saying the coder is amazing or anything, but the guy who seems to only draw for maybe 2 hours a day, not including weekends, and draws Judith with a cock for a week, instead of finishing off story line dressing room scene, is stalling progress.
