Sure is a lot of harsh reviews here.
Game's alright, I'll do my usual spiel now.
Story
It's basic, simple excuse for an H game, fair enough, and good enough for people who are here for H games, since I'm not, I'd hope the gameplay makes up for it.
Gameplay
This is probably one of the simplest platformers I've played, of course I'm lying because SMNG exists. Though by comparison I'd still say SMNG looks prettier, and has more interesting level design. Your combat options are limited to swinging your sword, and being able to time a perfect dodge to slow down time, that's it.
It's incredibly simplistic, though I will say that it can get somewhat challenging near the end on Hard. So I will give it that, it's just not very complicated nor engaging, not a lot of skill needs to be applied.
Bosses
At least this is one of those games where we have more than three bosses, I swear so many platformers...
Anyways, this game has five. They're all pretty varied in terms of good and bad. The first one is a basic fight fitting for a first boss, the second boss is needlessly difficult and unforgiving on Hard since it expects you to notice vfx you wouldn't even consider normally. The third one is a joke, the fourth one is pretty fun and tough, and the fifth boss is pretty alright. On hard, all of them except the first and third can be pretty fun and engaging, only because they have satisfying attacks to dodge through, doesn't change the fact that you're either dodging or smacking the same key in this game.
Soundtrack
The music in this game bangs, it's probably unoriginal, but it fucking bangs.
Conclusion
If anything, play this game just so you can see the massive improvements Shimofumi makes with Mumasekai, I haven't finished that, I need to. I will make a review when I do, but it's a significantly more engaging and interesting game with a lot more complexity in both platforming and even combat. Definitely give it a shot after this.
3/5 for Potential which the Developer certainly fulfills in the sequel.
