Oof, this game is a tough call. It might be called ‘Sweet Bitter’ after the bar theme the game has going. But in fact, it’s more bittersweet. And not for the right reasons. This is a short game, too short. For all endings.
Story driven game, three endings. You’ll see indications of your progress with either Charlotte or Kira. Developer really took time to write the starting part of the story, as most of it is revealed in the developer note. The writing is very thick and honestly unrealistic in an overdramatic way, but the dev did go out of his way to make it readable. Feels like a simp fantasy, but without the proper buildup. It’s just a lot of trauma dumping.
Intimate scenes are thrown on you near the end, without explanation of the end whatsoever. The third ending really comes out of left field, which is sad because it would be an interesting avenue to explore a bit further. But that’s my problem with this game in general - it starts off too slow and packs up too fast. Kira seems thought out, Charlotte is often talked about and the rest is one-dimensional. I’d love for the dev to build upon this game and do a version two - with a proper middle arc, some meaningful choices that lead to different experiences and and after-ending that is more than “It’s all good after sex”. Story wise there’s still potential.
