VN - Ren'Py - SWM: The Lurking Shadow [v2.0] [Mortze]

It makes me sad to not give this game 5 stars, because it was an undeniable 5 star game in the first chapter, but the second has a huge problem.

The writing in this game is really good, and while it's still a porn game it steers clear of the most egregious porn logic. The scenes are well written and erotic. Until chapter 2, where for some reason the writer outsourced the descriptions to AI. If you've seen other attempts to use AI in erotica, it's instantly recognizable. Outside of any opinions on using AI in general, it's a big problem because AI sex descriptions are:

1) way too fucking wordy. They go on forever and kill the mood even if what they describe is sexy on paper, and

2) They are all samey. I don't know if it's the wordiness or something else, but when I read them they all tend to blend together. Progression is lost, everything is a constant hard fuck, the personalities of the characters fade away, and straight up nonsensical things get said. Our protagonist who has never seen a woman naked until recently really groped a woman's tits "with practiced ease"?

So yeah, 5 stars first episode, 3 stars second.

Tl:dr: Don't use AI for sex scenes, unless its to proofread what you write. It's already brderline for erotica, it's a fucking death sentence for a VN to have giant textboxes describe sex.

In a world were games under the "parody" tag are just caricatures of the source material, Mortze tries to stay true to the feeling, narrative pace and tone of Star Wars material, sex or no sex, I think this is story you should play.

Story is good, very Star-War-ish, with lots of surprises, show downs, aliens, and (a maybe uncharacteristic) development in the main characters. Renders are amazing, especially the sex scenes are so thoroughly steamy with bodies looking absolutely convincing. For once you get realistic fluids, how lucky can a boy be!?! The many scenes at gunpoint are a bit cliché, but I will take that any day for such a nice story and visual treat.

This is better than all the Star Wars garbage from the last three decades. Fraction of the budget. Imagine if the reigns should belonged to you Mortze... wow that capture, the stills of distraught, the depth you've intertwined. Nicely done and hope to see more of this.

Wow, Thank you. The story is better than some episodes of the real SW. The characters are deep and sex scenes are engaging. I'm afraid I have feelings for Drea and fell for Kleio . Animations could be better, but it's a solid 5 for me. Thank you guys

Simply incredible and the most Star War themed AVN I've seen. The plot is a breath of fresh air and with purpose. The worldbuilding is excellent, like you are truly in a Star Wars universe. The renders, specially renders of the world around you, is amazing. The only cons I can think of are the animation. They are very wonky. Lastly, I just wanna say I love my man Nbit.

Story is good take on Star Wars world with sexual twist. First episode is pretty poor on sexual content (unless on alien route), but it is still fun to read. In second episode things start to get more steamy. Sadly the conversation options are pretty rare overall and it feels like you don´t get the full intended experience if you don´t check all the paths. This makes it feel like there is no "different paths", just kinetic novel with different scenes you either check or don´t.
Overall the story takes itself little too seriously and by that, reduces erotic content too much to be five star AVN for me.

Writing is good. All the women have different demeanor, but also more complex backstories. At this moment, none of the main girls have raised as a main interest for me, but as a sexual partners they all surprised positively. Even the baddies have looks and personality that make me wanna get to know them better. The small sidekick also does create surprisingly fun situations.

Visually game is great. EP1 is little rough looking, but EP2 looks a lot better. Best tits handling in any AVN. Loved how every women have details that separate them from each other. Those details also separate these women from regular perfect plastic dolls that most AVNs have. Animations are your old style version and look somewhat basic with just few frames.

SWM: The Lurking Shadow is hands-down the BEST adult visual novel in the Star Wars universe I've ever played.
You're plunged into a galaxy far, far away that feels 100% authentic to the Star Wars saga. The lore, tone, and epic vibes are spot-on. At just the right length (played it in one sitting!). If you love Star Wars, this is MANDATORY.

It truely blows my mind how a game like this has gotten so many 5 star rating, i mean for what?

Fake completed tag using a shitty excuse that chapter is done, thats not a completed game in any way or form, just a single chapter and if dev abandon it and wont finished the story then game is abandoned not completed and shouldent be tagged as such.

Story was pretty decent but nothing else was, i dident really like the girls they are all bimbos and i dont care for big tit fetish, so it would need alot better diversity in builds to stand a chance to be good, also theres only like 3-4 sex scenes and they arent good in any way either.

Theres no music but there are sound effects which are ok but still silent most times.

It could have had potential if dev dident abandon it after just a single chapter but it is what it is and theres just no way this would warrent anything but 2 star rating at best, maybe if game gets completed and by that i mean story then i would revisit and edit review but considering theres only an hours worth of playtime in this and its 5 years old, then i wouldent expect to ever see this getting anywhere.

Jedis, Empire, droids, ass and titties! LFG! Great start to great story. Love the accuracy of the SW universe. Animations are very good, renders are great, lore is accurate and you get to bang alien.... yes you should play this one.
And if nothing else at least you get the start of a brand new SW story albeit lewd af. Can't wait to see how far this goes.

What a short but excellent VN, this would be easily my favorite novel so far, but sadly is just one episode, but what a great episode, great work and visuals. So much potential, and i think that the developers could continue this story to make one of the best games ever

The writing is honestly better than any recent Disney Star Wars garbage (aside from Andor). The story has great potential. Characters are very believable SW characters, and I liked most characters design. Overall I enjoyed it despite being pretty short AVN. Eagerly waiting for the next game, hope there is a next game.

What a great game to play! The story is very interesting, the dialogs are believable, the characters are likable. What more, the women are very nice, without strange proportions. I wouldn't mind more sex involved but you can't have anything? The fast progress to check all paths is great. I lack music and animations wasn't good. But overall I really hope that second part will come out.

A super compelling first view of what could've been. I know the author has made plenty of other games, but I'm sorry to say I doubt they'll hit me as hard as this one just for the fact it's incomplete.

This should really be re categorized as abandoned. You wouldn't call one chapter of a book complete, would you? That's pretty much what we've got here. It's very misleading to tag it as complete.

Overall, the game is alright. The writing is pretty good, but the renders are a bit crunchy at times, and there are lots of typos. It probably would have been a great game if it had more than one introductory chapter's worth of content. As it stands now, though, it's not worth playing.

Cool concept, executed poorly in my opinion and quite short. Sparse dialogue, plenty of typos, sparse "action," and sex animations were subpar.

Worst of all, for me, was that I went through this game under the impression it was a finished story and found it was in fact, literally, an unfinished and abandoned story. It's ~30 minutes of character and story establishment without any payoff, the exact thing I wanted to avoid by searching for "completed" games.

Read through the comments and while I understand the technical arguments as to why this game is marked as "complete," it's nevertheless frustrating.

Abandonware in the guise of a completed intro chapter. Good characters and concept, that essentially is all promise and kinda no payoff.

The "game" is maybe 1-2 hours of dialogue, assuming you check out multiple options. After that its wait for ep2! forever. 2 stars might be overly harsh, but I filtered by completed game being sick of the "all premise no payoff" abandoned ideas. This was just one more of them, although a bit higher quality, hense the 2nd star.
