Revieving this game wasn't an easy task for me because this game does have flaws and I cetraintly wouldn't give it the highest score possible, but at the same time the F95's rating system leaves me no other choice but to give it 5 stars, as it would be totally unfustified if Sylphy would get 4. I'll use a hundred points system, starting from this review. And this is the rating it gets: 82/100
Lets start with the cons:
+ Game's story is actually very elaborate and well written. It may be me, but I usually skip the most of the story (fast-skip with Ctrl is an existing feature in Sylphy as well) as I find it very and very boring or bad. Writing is very important and seeing that authors put enough effort to make it good warms my heart.
+ Minigames! Some people might find them not interesting as it is, but the fact that Sylphy isn't limiting itself only to implemented in MV turn-based combat is actually good. Gameplay in porn games are important as well, hence why they are called games.
+ User interface and navigation are well made. Starting from basic features as showing important locations once you enter the town for the first time and opening all CGI H-scenes in the recollection room once you've finished the game, and ending with teleporting to buildings and showing how much time you will consume and what you will get instead by interacting with events. This is very convinient for me, although it's still not perfect (I'll talk about this a little bit later)
± Honestly, there could've been more of H-scenes. Each to their own, I mostly liked the scenes Sylphy provides to me, but I wished there could be more of content. Clearing the game took me quite a while (even though I've finished it by simply collecting 50 followers and rushing (and losting) the final battle) and I hoped to see at least different endings.
± User interface and navigation are well made. Mostly. Finding the fucking well in the introduction took me 10 minutes of running through the city. Interface shows whenever there's a H-scene is going to occure and if you've seen it or not, but it doesn't shows if your character can be ripped off from their virginity. Once it will not say anything and Sylphy will just get raped in the Mule village after you'll try to visit it after receiving the protecting amulet. These are insignificant, in my opinion, and even related to my stupidness, but still are unpleasant.
± The begginning scene in the game makes me confused. Father rapes the Sylphy's sister. Why? Why do you (author) show this to us? I (as a player) can't affect this anyhow, I can't avoid or, instead, participate in the event. It's just the shock content for the sake of it with no sense of immersiveness for the player. And we don't know about the sister character anything at all, except the fact that she's clumsy, and the only use of that scene is to motivate the further events with doctor-hypnostist trying to cure her with, well, hypnosis. But it could be just me and this problem wouldn't be so obvious for other players so I'll give it a ± trait, but, personally, I think that all scenes should have a sense for both gameplay and writing perspectives. Player should be an actor. Does that mean that there should be no scenes like these whatsoever? - no, but they should be minor and shouldn't be used for important things.
- Game's quite grindy for no whatever reason. Slums? Get sexual experience. Slut shores? 300 of exhibitionism experience (to wear the swimsuit). Just... why?
- Turn-based combat elements were almost deleted from the game, but many rudiments are still present. I'm not really sure why Sylphy left them in the game since they look very bad in the game. Buying magic crystals is almost completely pointless for the player (since they are very weak) comparing to just buying a weapon in the equipment shop; battling against bosses is a boredom, without any interesting touches. I understand that TBC is mostly outdated and seen beyound saving nowadays, but authours could've at least pust some effort? Or replace them with some minigames? At least I appreciate that you should battle against every enemy in the dungeon: that'd be a torture.
As you can see, the game has enough flaws, but none of them are fatal to me. I can name dozens of grindy games with questionable mechanics and events. But Sylphy actually did a great job in making a solid story. I also see effort in making this game as convinient for players as possible, while trying to implement new gameplay mechanics for diversity. And, the most significant, this game is consistent. Based on that, I believe that the rating for this game should be 82/100, or 5/5. It's definitely not the best game for me, but one of very good ones.
