I prefer the 1 on 1 scenes as well. I think the story ending up as a harem kind of forces NLT towards orgies and group stuff.
I don't mind the group stuff but if every scene at the end is group stuff it's a bit overwhelming. Which is why I never minded the teasing for Janet and Heather. As we knew we would get late game 1 on 1 content with them.

I asked a similar question in the NLT comments for episode 3 today. TDavy told me that decisions about scenes are carefully considered by the team.
They want to balance the different types of scenes so that they don't get boring.
Perhaps they will expand on this in future podcasts featuring NLT.

The group stuff is best used in moderation. I feel like one giant orgy at the end and the occasional threesome/foursome is the best route to take. If every scene involves 3-6 people then the appeal of those scenes is going to wear thin very quickly. Honestly, I think part of the problem is the size of the cast. In SotS I could do without more than half the cast. Do we really need Margaret? Do we need both the naive idiot blonde and the hot russian blonde? They fill the same physical niche. On top of that Leila is basically "what if Grace was Indian and somehow a scientist?" Amira, Olivia, and Julia all fit the same general "big tit milf" niche and I really don't think we need all three and as of yet Olivia hasn't really brought anything interesting to the story. I'm also struggling to see the appeal for Cleopatra, I'm fine with the character being in the game but should she really have scenes? And even if she does begin to get them... does Marget already kinda fill the older, haughty bitch niche? Lola and Nia are the only characters who don't have another character that heavily impedes on what they bring to the story. I'm gonna have a hard time not skipping through the orgy scenes when so many of the cast members are so similar.
