VN - Ren'Py - TableTop BornStar [v0.85] [Basilicata]

This is a very mixed review. I think the game mechanics of the board game are very good. I love the 90s theme. The problem I have is that the sex scenes are pretty rare and they are not hot.

If the developer dropped in more pictures with hotter scenes, I would make this 5 star.

Loving this game so far! The tabletop idea is quite refreshing, of course the RNG factor can become a bit too relevant at times but it's also part of the game.

The art is great and the characters have good charisma. The story is ok but the whole '90s atmosphere and references make it really fun and enjoyable.

There's not a lot of sex content yet but those few scenes are very good. Personally I hope to see a healthy amount of lesbian content in the future as all the female characters look absolutely gorgeous!

Definitely a 5 stars game in the making, looking forward to next updates.

The tabletop concept is unique and mostly well implemented, as is the 90s theme. My main issue is with the isometric perspective of the board. Sure if we were playing a boardgame irl that's how we'd see it but we're not. I'd prefer a top down view with more details included in the various squares. Since the gameplay isn't the primary function of this lewd game, it's not that big of a deal.

The story is interesting but not overblown, and complements the porno stuff nicely. After all what better framework for sleazy action can there be, than being a sleazy Hollywood agent! It's also somewhat believable. At least, outside of the triggers for the lewd scenes, but that's to be expected from every lewd game whether "story-driven" or otherwise. Anyway, the writer knows the subject matter and the writing in general is decent.

The art seems to be traced drawings. Nothing wrong with that, and the colouring goes well with the 90s theme. However, it looks a bit too MS Paint imo and could use more prominent shading. Still, it stands out from the usual cartoony/hentai styles. I liked it overall. Most/all of the lewd scenes feature good animations and that's a big plus.

Despite the minor issues, and the complete lack of Nirvana references (wtf?!!) I had fun playing it.

I'm in love with the drawings, done by creator since Goss IP game, and always with anticipation wait for the next updates.
As always - great, "tasty" drawings, interesting idea and cute embodiment of it. Never supposed, that, using Renpy, possible to create such types of gameplay.

Like the game idea, arts decent, animations ok (dance ones are excellent silouttes, love those) but my god is it slow to get going. Once its actually starts the pacing is ok, but over an hour till it does, and another half an hour till it brings the pace up abit.

If I lost my save I wouldn't play it again, because the grind, while slightly interesting once, would bore me to tears 2nd time through.

Although there isn't that much content, yet, it's a very promising game/vn if you are ok with the monopoly like board game mechanics. If you grew up in the 90ies, you'll encounter a lot of references, which is really fun, after all the game's setting portrays the 90ies really well.

The player is a somewhat shabby agent of an innocent blonde hottie from Kansas trying her luck in California. Choices seem to matter and shape the personality of your client called MJ. There is some interesting back ground story included, which is revealed over time. The player also seems to have some side stories running with other female characters, which enriches the story further. I also don't mind the rather slow pace, after all the main girl is really innocent at the start of the game and as she meets new people, she opens up slowly.

I also appreciate the unique art. So far the art style doesn't disappoint in hot scenes.

The only problem I have in this still early development stage is, that there is no walkthrough. It seems like there will be story branches, because the player's decissions are supposed to matter. Hence there will be different content depending on MJ's personality and propably some other factors, too. Without a proper walkthrough players will miss out content. For casual gamers, who don't want to play this game several times, a walkthrough should really be provided by the dev.

A honest rating would be 3.5 stars for the time being. Since I'm really looking forward for further updates, I'll give it 4 stars.

One of the best new VNs on the site, turning out to be really good. Nice progression system and the board game makes it less tedious and grindy and more fun. I have played both the versions so far and haven't had any problems getting all the content but I see complaints of "balance" which I really don't understand, maybe people are not mixing stuff up properly? The gameplay is very simple so I just don't understand how you could go wrong with it. My only complaint is limited save slots which I will never understand why they are a thing, I'm the kind of person that saves after every scene so it's incredibly tedious to overwrite saves. Anyways, definitely reccomended, looking forward to future releases.

I have played a lot of VNs and I can truly say this is one of the most enjoyable I have played. The art is incredible and the creator manages to keep you engaged throughout the course of what could easily be boring and repetitive game play. The characters are fun and engaging and I will definitely be keeping an eye on this as it further develops.

Man, so little of the board game feels implemented, and landing on most spots doesn't actually seem to do what it's supposed to as a result.

However but the board game part that is there is fun, the art is good, and it's kinda funny. And that blowjob scene was really good. Please keep working on it, and please do let me know when this is gonna be updated.

Nice graphics, an interesting approach to gaming. I'm curious how the game will develop, I like it very much so far. Definitely has potential. I would think of a lot of what could be built in. I will definitely keep watching the game.

ART work is really good and I'm impressed with the idea of this. Controls seem great, design is really well done. Can't believe Ren'Py is the engine for this. Not a bad demo at all. Kinda confused on the tag of what protagonist this is cuz it feels female based more than male but whatever.
